It would be weak...at best. 250 watt HPS is about the minimun for 4 flowering plants...(unless you add some CFL lights)

Need more info about the size of your grow room.

space? plant size? certain weight needed? pot size? ...

I suggest a 250-400 as you might want to upgrade later down the road.

150 will cover 2-3 square foot, a 250 will cover 4-5 square foot, a 400 will cover 6-8 square foot, a 600 works good for 9 square foot.....

Been pondering distributed lights. 150's and such I have been looking at..

I priced a 150 MH ballast for $20..

I think too for a small grow a 250 is nice.. I used twin 250's this year and I liked them.. Did buy the dual 250 electronic ballast and am very happy with how it drives simple 250 mh bulbs..
Much better than the iron core transformers I had.

i can tell you what a friend have done recently. He took four of my critical clones and flowered them in a very small cab (60cm x 60cm aprox) under a single 150 watts hps when they were around 15-20 cm, finishing at 45 cm and yielding almost an oz each.

you can grow 3 to 4 plants this size with a 150w HPS. This one weighs about an ounce. When you get things dialed in, more is possible.

I have the Lowes security light. Bought it used for $35.00. A good place to get one is e-conolight.com for ~$52 shipped. It's every bit as good as the $85 one from Lowes and the bulb is included.

Last time I checked, HTG Supply has a 150wHPS remote ballast and reflector shipped to US 48 for $79. Might be the best deal for a remote 150.

While not on the cheep side to construct. I thought to share my mothers light rack.

CFL has come a long way since 1999 when shop lights ruled my garden.

Just an FYI is all.. Peace

better would be at least a 430, then better a 600...

stealthcabber is right, the htg remote ballast and reflector is the best buy if you don't want to mess with the wiring. By the time I bought all the accessories for my security light, I could have bought the htg remote and saved myself lots of labor. Last time I checked, you can get is shipped for less than the Lowes security light.
