Western Australia Toughens Marijuana Laws

In what must be a blow to the citizens of Western Australia the government there seems willing to roll back the more liberal cannabis laws put in place by the last Labor government with repeal of WA's Cannabis Control Act of 2003

They are once again criminalizing marijuana growing in the state, and increasing penalties for possessing small amounts. All cannabis paraphernalia will now be illegal too. What is going on there? Did they just build a new empty prison? Why do they want to turn otherwise law abiding Aussies into criminals?

Australians, where are your protests against this oppression of marijuana users?

It's shocking, but Australians are so apathetic that I dont think there is one issue that would make them get of the arses and protest!!!

It's not even just the new Cannabis laws as it really changes nothing here but the liberal government has given the police powers to search anyone they like where ever they like! The people here just follow along like sheepels........

We have never been allowed any plants legally.........

Let's just say the boy's in blue paid you a visit on a Sunday morning the day before harvest & you had 2 lovely ladies growing outside. The police would take your 2 plants & charge you for cultivation, the judge would fine you but NO crimanal record would be recorded against you.

Now let's just say that those nice boy's in blue visited you on the Monday morning instead & those 2 ladies were now hanging to dry in your shed. The police would weigh the 2 plants, stems, leaves, rootballs & flowers and you would be charged with cultivation of a prohibited substance with intent to sell & supply. The weight would be around 3-5kg minimum if you were any sort of a good grower. Now the courts DONT care if it's wet weight, leaves, stems, root's or dirt still attached to the roots to the Judge it's all ILLEGAL cannabis & you have just been caught with between 105-176 ounce's (3-5kgs of wet cannabis plants). Anything over 500grms and you are charged with supply & dealing You now need to spend a HEAP of money on a good lawyer & pray like shit you do not have a previous criminal record!!!!

Also if you were growing under light's wether in soil or not it is classed as HYDRO & you are automatically charged with "Cultivation of a prohibited plants with intent to sell & supply" so as you can see it's just a STUPID un-workable model!!!!!!

Yep I live in West Oz and this sucks BIG time but hey i always thought the cannabis laws in Australia were always shit! What can one do really? but not to tell anyone you are growing... keep your shit stealthy as fuck and you should be alright you just have to be smart and hope no one catches wind of what you are doing.

I have served my country and lost some good mates
the Australian government is full of SHIT
i dont vote, cant see the point all polititions lie
i dont care what laws they pass
i live by my own rules and they are fair and just
im honest, hard working and a family man

i grow marijuana always have, always will with the execption of Security "breaks".

i have been busted with a sizable crop by WA standards
39 plants and i stood up in court and stated that i dont sell marijuana,i give it away or swap it
a car here, baby seat there even a fridge load of grocerys
but never cash, if they sell it good on them its worth money and if it easys ones finacial strain, ive done my job as i only want to help people

at this point the magistrate stated that the marijuana was dangerous and had been proved to caused numerous health problems

i stated he was full of shit and maybe should read up on a subject first before opening his mouth, makes you look like an idiot

i copped a $4000 fine all up for this( and was looking at 4 years jail)
and he commented on my honesty not something he sees very often in his line of work

so there it is people
stand on your own too feet
forget about the governments rules they are a bunch of yobbo's who couldnt find their balls if they lite up like a light bulb
grow good herb
make seeds and give them away
and be good to your mother

This is true, from a certain point of view...but I think most can agree the way you've been expressing yourself has been fed by anger and frustration and a little ignorance { ignorance aint bad...it's why we're here man...to share knowledge and fight our OWN ignorance on different subjects cannabis related}. What you and I and others here are trying to do is to educate ourselves and others...and that is done by using the keen gaze of logic and backed by facts, illustrated by experiences...as it SHOULD BE, but isn't by our politicians...who are yelling and screaming like parrots in a tree, making noise but not actually saying anything useful or worthwhile.....{as a side note I would like to point out that here in Aus, we DO NOT have a 'bill of rights'..our personal freedoms have never actually existed }

As the world comes closer to global meltdown/ resource limits, Cannabis will rise from the ashes [pun intended] to help us get out of this hole we are collectively digging
and the best way to handle things in the meantime is to educate people and not pi$$ them off...you do this best with humour/sarcasm/correct information...not insults/abuse/violence [verbal or otherwise]...almost ALL politicians in the western world and MOST media use spin/PC-overload/misdirection and lies mixed with fear-mongering and war-mongering to keep 'the people' ignorant or involved in petty disputes in order to steer the ship of state where they whist....and like you, it pi$$e$ me off...

man Australia really does has some messed up laws. Too many beer drinking bums here that wont stick up for their rights. Yes the guns laws in Australia and really screwed up. You basically get treated like a criminal if you want to own a gun (even a shotgun). For someone like me who likes hunting and guns its really unfair and it makes one feel betrayed by their own country. On the issue of guns i congratulate americans for upholding their rights. That's about one of the only things i see good about america. They seem more proactive.

With the lawse in Aus now they can search your house at any time without a warrant. The new anti-terror laws and anti-bikie gang laws they can basically do what they want. They can bypass the courts and just search your house for whatever reason they want. Its a crazy situation and Australia is turning into a police state. It just seems to get worse and worse.
