First Go (DWC)

get one of those siphon pumps they have the hand ones or the electric ones you dont know how many plants i had fall over after trying to switch lids

Im not really sure what your talking about, but if your talking about draining the buckets, i use a powerful pond pump with a rubber hose.

ANOTHER QUICK QUESTION: the roots on the autoflowering gal are completely brown and disgusting looking. No slime or foamy residue anymore, but nasty brown "clinging" lookin' roots. I just started flushing this morning(9 weeks from seed), and i added a little bit of peroxide to be safe. But the leaves are completely shot, brown, dying, dead, and yellowing (pretty much all of the leaves have fallen off, or are going to fall off very soon). The buds look AMAZING though! lots of crystals, cant wait to smoke it. I know its just not going to yield shit, but oh well, that's what the big gals are for. But my question is how long should i flush since the roots and leaves appear to be dying or completely dead? i dont want to over do it or let it go too long!

I would just go ahead and harvest that one. I don't think that flushing it going to do any good at this point.
How is it going with the other plants? Are they staying green on the limbs you splinted?

Yea, actually they are all green and decent lookin', and some of them are "elbowing" up and getting stronger! All of the buds seem to be growing at an even pace! i couldn't believe it. i thought it would completely throw it out of whack. I even put one of the completely severed chutes in a rooting cube (no cloning gel or anything, just peroxide and h2o) and she looks unbelievably healthy and that was 4 days ago. I really dont know what im going to do with her if she roots (probably put it in the auto-flowering bucket). Im really going to try to get some pics here in a few days. So you think i just harvest the little gal now? wont it taste like nasty nutes? whenever you hang bud to dry, do they need to be in complete darkness? How do you dry and cure your buds? I read that if you just trim the leaves and hang the entire plant it dries more even.

Oh and you'll get a kick out of this since you've done the apt. thing before. So I return to my apt and there is a note on my door saying the "fire dept will be here all this week, so they can check all the alarms and sprinklers system", and of course, there is one sprinkler in the grow/laundry room, so i had to devise a plan. I moved and covered everything i could with a tarp and sheets, and topped it off with dirty underwear. I had a 5 foot mound of sheets and dirty underwear, but the grow was completely hidden. Before they came i had scattered out a bunch of cold meds, pills, and tissue paper. I told them i had the flu really bad and they were in and out in 15 seconds. HA, its funny now, but dear god those were some of the most stressed out and anxious days of my entire life, just cause i didn't know what day they were coming. Ha man im glads thats over.

You must have misunderstood me about hating apartments. I have never grown in an apartment before and just for the reasons you are stating. I have lived in apartments and sold weed though and that was bad enough. The damn maintenance guys would come into your apartment with not so much as a note to do things like change out toilet guts and change the air filter. It used to freak me out so much that I would tape a piece of hair on the top of my door every time I left for work so that I could tell if someone had been in there.
Just too much stress for me, LOL!

HaHa, i put pieces of tissue paper on the sides of my door. My place has to give you a two day notice before they can enter, but woopity doo, they could just come in whenever they please. very very stressful. I'm moving after i get this grow done.

Oh yea and MIST, (and everybody else) i forgot to ask you this. Do you trim your leaves? if so, when? I was planning on just letting nature take its course and letting things fall off when they are good and ready, but i've been thinking about it lately and am having second thoughts.

No, I don't trim any leaves while they are in flower or any other time for that matter. Other than cleaning up the bunk shit at the bottom of the plant I leave them alone and let them grow the way they are supposed to.

So when you are hanging or drying your buds, does it need to be pitch black?! I've read that some people do it in a shoe box with holes in it, is this a beneficial way of gettin' her dry?!?!? What are some other ways?!?

I personally don't worry about them being in a dark to dry, but many people will disagree I am sure. When you cut it down take the large fan leaves off the main stems where they meet the limbs. Then hang the plant to dry. My main concern is good air flow around my drying plants. And that doesn't mean to have a fan blowing on them. I like to have a small oscilating fan blowing underneath the hanging plants and an exhaust above the plants. This gets rid of the warm humid air that comes from the moisture leaving the buds and keeps them from getting moldy.
After they start to get somewhat crispy on the outside of the buds I manicure them. Then I let them dry a bit more and and when the stems start to get slightly brittle I put the buds into a bucket and let them wet out again. I open the bucket for a couple hours every day and turn the buds every 30 minutes or so as they dry on the outside then seal the bucket up again. After about 3-4 days of this they should be ready to seal up in mason jars to finish their curing.
This process has variables though because of differences in temp and humidity at your location versus mine. I have to adjust my own curing because of this too.

Anyone else have some curing tips? Please chime in because I know that there are as many different ideas on how to cure as there are strains to grow.

YOU KICK ASS:joint:

Yea, so how does everybody dry their plants? Do you cut the chutes/individual branches, off, trim em, and hang em? Do you cut em all the way down to the bud and let them sit? I know im a newb and all, but i think that cutting the plant and keeping it in it's whole form from the very base, trimming it, then hanging it up vertically just like it was grown would be best. That way gravity will do its thing, and pull the nutes out naturally. Its kinda like someone dying in a very peaceful manner, and in its own natural way (with the exception of that it's really is like somebody whackin' your head off, and draining all your blood so they can smoke your ass, but if ya think about it, all you are really after is the guts inside and the solution is the blood draining from the neck. fucked up, i know). I always see pics with buds hanging upside down from a wire or somethin', it just seems like gravity, a very respectable force of nature, would pull the nutes and water out at a more fluently and even tempo then hanging em' upside down. what do you guys think?!? Oh and pics will be up soon....you know how it goes. PEACE

We're 4 days away from the 5th week of flowering....You can't see the 400 watter in any of these pics, but the 250 is in the back gettin' the lower buds. And the weather is gettin' cooler so temps are runnin' 63-75 off/on!

Thanks, im not really having to do much right now, but im always in there, ha. Ph pretty much stays at 6, and temps are averaging 72 lights on. Ah, i love it. They're getting so big and juicy lookin'

I chopped and trimmed the little girl today, but she isn't much. I trimmed to what i thought was good, but i dont know, there was just no density. Ill post pics when they're dry. Hopefully ill get an eighth or so

all of the buds have fucking carbon on them. the carbon is from the fan hitting the filter at night i guess. theyre not coaxed, but they've definitely got carbon on them. are they ruined?

Do you have a picture of that? I don't understand how your fan was hitting the filter and getting carbon on the buds. Or maybe a picture of how you are thinking the carbon was getting on the buds. Like a pic of how the fan was hitting the filter.
Sounds weird that the carbon was coming out of the filter. I have had a couple peices fall out of my filter, but they are chunks and fall straight to the ground.

yea i have pics, it wouldn't let me upload them earlier and ive been pretty busy, so.....yea, but i pretty much wake up one morning and every single leaf is dead or dying. there was a little yellowing before, but nothing that noticeable. i thought it was lockout so i dumped the nutes and changed em out, but they are still getting worse. i didnt even think to check the air pump until earlier today, and well, they all felt and looked pretty clogged so i fixed that, which im pretty sure was the problem. the leaves started dying about 3 days ago. im going to try and post those pics later, but we'll see. like every single leaf is dead or looks like crap. what happens next? are they just stunted and will need more time? do they try and regrow fan leaves or what?
