I have a plant that is flowering and some of the smaller fan leaves are blocking the buds, my question is can I just trim them off?

I gurantee if you search that you will find an abundant amount of information. Some will say yes, some will say no. Search, go read, and form your own opinion. One subject i will not preach to people about, I think its up to the individual grower to decide.

If it's blocking a bud from light, cut it. Just don't go crazy with the scissors and cut off too many at once, the plant needs a chance to heal after surgury.

i dont trim leaves, maybe just a finger of a leaf here and there. im not sure even if buds photosynthesize, but as said above, you will find some that do and some that dont.

a much better suggestion would be to look at any/all of the other areas of agriculture and plant biology and decide for yourself if removing the leaves from ANY plant benefits it in any way

just bend them,

anytime you cut your plant you slow its growth due to it then needed to heal part of it. Just TUCK IT UNDER
