Hey Stitch

Hey Stitch

Hey there, its me again. I had a question for ya. I started my second grow consisting of 2 OG Kushes (Larry OG and SFV OG from Swerve) from beans. They germd on 9/22 and I transferred to 6" pots in Light Warrior appx 10 days later. I saw the lower leaves starting to brown and then gave a very dilute solution of PBP Grow. I then transferred to 7 gal pots on 10/12 with a 50/50 mix of Light Warrior and Roots Organics, gave a good watering of 50/50 tap/distilled (6.5ph) placed under 1000w HPS with lights around 5' from canopy and within 2 days started to see yellowing around edges of new growth and they are a little pale green. I have not fed or watered yet. The temps stay consistent at 75deg F and the RH at 45-55%. I will begin lowering HPS closer to the canopy in the next few days. During my first grow fiasco, you advised me that most of these soil mixes are pretty hot and I was burning them. Swerve advised me that these strains love nitrogen and cal mag. I am assuming that when the roots start to grow into the soil mix I stated above, the yellowing should subside and then I can begin to feed as necessary. I tried to upload pics last night but my laptop kept crashing. I forgot to bring my camera to my office this morning. Should I wait a while before doing anything to see if it gets worse or improves? I think my problem is lack of magnesium from what I see in your book. My last grow I had a tendency to jump the gun before I thoroughly investigated. I am being much more patient this time.

Thanks in advance.:joint:

Hey Stitch,

Patience paid off. They have gone from yellowing around edges to going back to a nice deep green. They will be due for a watering probably this evening or tomorrow. I'll probably just use a 50/50 solution of tap/distilled. My RO system is down waiting for new cartridges. I think the most important advice I got from you and others is just watch them and see what they need as I go along. Its so easy to start dumping nutes and supplements into them which is what I did with the first grow and boy did I have problems.

Hit me up and let me know whats new. I read you were having some health issues. I hope all is well.

By the way, which method of the two do you prefer for watering in soil? Flooding or drip?

Hey major, yup that will be good enough to fix them before getting them into flowering, those girls are mighty healthy and very happy! Those leaves stretching outwards and showing good vigor; you know they are perfectly happy now :)

Awesome job on that fine grow m8!

wspcolorado: have you checked very good to make sure pests have not infected your plants? Checked all of them?

THe 2nd picture you uploaded, I can't see it well due to the lighting. Need a flash and have clear view of the problem and the plant.

As for the clones that are yellowing, how long have they been in there medium? Do you know if they have roots?

Yellowing in clones is normal when rooting times are taking a little longer, they are using stored nutes to feed off of until they root, if they ever root. A lot of times they won't root, because there condition s are not met, or depending where on the plant you took it and how woody the stem is and so forth.

If they have nubs or little roots, don't worry about the yellowing, you don't want to do anything right now if they got barely any roots going...... foliar feed can help, but I honestly think it slows rooting down and makes matters worse.

Have you misted or sprayed anything on your leaves lately?

Hey mydny: great to hear things are good for ya man, I would love to see some pictures soon :O)

My method of watering has always been flooding just watering until some run off comes out, as long as the plant size was correct to the pot size. Otherwise I would not allow it to flood like that.

Ya, it sucks bad with what I got, my MRI results said this: Female involved into a moter vehicle acident 13 years ago complains of back pain since that time. The patient reportedly says she has spondolothesis in L4- L5.

Findings: There are feautures of spondolothesis and grade 1 L4 L5 and S1
There is degenerative disc, with disc bulging and marginal osteophyte formation and mild disc space narrowing at L4-L5 and S1

Small posterior disc annulus tears at L4 L5 and S1
Mild degree of degenerative disc signal with anterioer disc bulging and marginal osteophyte formation at T12 L1 and L2.

In other words my whole lumbar spine is deteriorating fast. I can't sit down or stand like I used too, it's too painful; I would love to sit here like I used too, but I can't so I have to come and go like the wind throughout the day.

So nearly just as soon as I thought I was in the clear I was struck by some problems again, some of the smaller young leaves at the top have "burnt" tips, a couple of the bigger leaves also show a dark color to the edge of the sides (burnt or black/brown color) of the leaves (showing in one of the photos)..if that makes sense. The lower and oldest leaves I was previously having problems with was sort of withering with seemingly no hope of recovery so I decided to cut those two to preserve the plants energy for the newer growth.
I flushed the plant 5-6 days ago and it seemed to benefit from this, but now it's back to the same old problems again.
This is a LR2 in soil, under 125w of CFL, now on day 26.Run-off was at approx 6.0 when I flushed and both my tapwater and nutrients have approx. the same ph.It's in a 1 gallon pot and lately I've been havin a few roots coming out through the drainage holes in the bottom....could it possibly be rootbound?
Another problem is that my lower (oldest) leaves have started hanging down/drooping all the way from the stem and out to the tips, they are also yellowing/going pale similar to the previous leaves that I have already cut.

Any help offered would be greatly appreciated!!!

This is my second try and i'm still having the same problem that killed all my previews plant (maybe the problem is just ME).

How long has this problem been going on? Starting from the 3rd day they germinated
What STRAIN are you growing? Two powerplants and 2 taiga. On the first try they were some skunks #1
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?) Seed
What is the age of your plants? 5 days
How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now? 4 days

What Nutrient's are you using? No nutrients, only root stimulator
How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
How often are you feeding? Every 2 days, but only water
If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients?
What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect)
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used? I didn't check, i haven't got the right tools
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"? Haven't tested it
What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen? Cheap tool, not really accurate (maybe strips)
How often are you watering? Every 2 days
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding? Yesterday
What size bulb are you using? 250w Agro
What is the distance to the canopy? About 50 cm

Hey Stitch,

I feel your pain when it comes to back problems. I had surgery on L5-S1 to remove a ruptured disc and surgeon fused those verts. I have Deg disc disease in L4-L5 as well as bad knees and wrists...all work related. I hope you can at least manage the pain. Fortunately I have found cannabis to be much more effective and safer than the "safe and legal" drugs the dr's were giving me. I was having liver issues until I stopped taking the narcs.

Anyways, I have included pics (below) of my newest babies that are showing some issues. I'm sure I know the problem, but want you to reassure me.

Please check em out when you get a chance and give me some feedback.

Thanks!!

here is your problem

Biobizz all mix with 30%perlite
What Nutrient's are you using? No nutrients, only root stimulator

Weed, small plants like that can very easily surcomb to our kindness, meaning you are caring too much for your plants too soon!

Root stimulaters have a lot of phosphorus in them and high P levels will knock out a small seedling/plant and the veins you are seeing is a zinc deficiency.

In other terms it's not deficient, but it's being locked out because of high phosphorus levels in the soil, from either soil and most likely the cause the root stim, those baby circle leaves you see under the first sets of single bladed leaves are it's food storage, it has just about everything it needs to get going. You should use a weak mixture that has low nutes, but not no nutes and not use cheap soil.

Seed starter mixtures work good. Also the pot size is way too big, it's not good to put them in that size, you can easily overwaterand then you got another problem. You must remove them from this mixture and put them into cups and add some soil that does not have root stimulator, the only thing you should be using is water for the first week to 2 weeks. Tap water or something that has RO but you must suppliment it with micronutrients if you use RO water, since RO removes everything and also the micros the plant need to help it sprout.

If the seedlings do survive they will be stunted for a bit, some this size don't recover at all and it's waste. If tyou have time, I would try to save them. If not it would be faster to start over......

The root stimulator should only be used after plant are nearing the 3 week mark and used only once in a while and not on a bases like a NPK fert.

awesome!!

Damn mydny, your the first person to have nearly the same problem as I do, what can I expect long term if I do not get surgery? Right now they do not want to operate on me, I know why too, because I don't have a "real" insurance right now. I refuse to take narcotics, because I have too much responsibility right now, I don't want to get addicted either, that is a can of worms I don't want to go near. I was growing cannabis for my med problem too.

When the cops raided me they found all my med bottles and took all my med bottles, cause I was using them to hold pot in lol. Hey what can I say, I recycle :D

WHat strains do you of that help you a lot with low back pain??
Hey mydny, they got the perfect tone of green there. What do you think is wrong, or what did you have in your mind what may be wrong :)

That plant is about 85% of happiness and that is great! That is what you want to see :) A plant can always tell you how it'[s getting taken care of, plants speak more than people know of lol

[/QUOTE]

The strains I use for the pain that work well for me are the purples (Urkel, Kush etc...). Usually any Kush works for me.

I was thinking it was a Calcium deficiency. The middle leaves were starting to go brown around the edges. I added some CalMag and a small amount of grow nutes with the last watering. I'm starting to think it was too much chlorine in the water because those same leaves were turning a bronze-ish color. I leave my tap water out for 24 hrs but was neglecting to agitate the water. What do you think? I'm guessing you couldn't see the coloring I was trying to show in the pics. After the watering/feeding, the upper leaves tips started curling down. I'm guessing they didnt need the grow nutes and now I need to flush.

As far as prognosis with the back issues. All my Dr's were trying to steer me away from surgery, telling me that I would have a 50% chance of ANY improvement and I have pretty good insurance, but it got to the point where I couldn't even stand upright long enough to make a sandwich. So I insisted on consulting a surgeon. He told me he has 95-98% success and he was right. I am left with some discomfort from the surgery itself, but the sciatic pain is gone! The recovery from surgery is horrible, but it goes by quickly. They want you up and walking the day after surgery and getting in and out of bed was so painful. I was letting the cursewords fly. But I was able to walk a mile within a week from coming home after a 3 day stay in the hospital. Without surgery, I guess you could be looking at irreversible nerve damage (which is what I was afraid of). And when that happens, no surgery will help. I don't know your exact age, I'm guessing close to mine, but I know that I am way too young to just be laid up for the rest of my life. My surgeon moved from my area to Idaho (I think), but he was awesome.

Thanks stitch.
I wish i could read that before, couse i just made the same mistake again with some new plants. I've just repotted them in some new soil with no root-c, and hope this time they can get through. They are just starting to show yellow leaves so maybe it's not too late.
Thanks for help :)

I am new in growing my own meds. Words cannot say how grateful I am as this has been a precious guide for me and eased my concerns which I am sure I would have worried me more than it did when I ran into an issue for which your guide saved me.

I sincerely thank you and respect your work.

My next vape is for you!

Everything seems to be going great but I was wondering if you recommend that I continue to alternate straight water every other watering now that I am in flower, thank you.

A happy little picture.
