Lucas formula users, why do you use micro+bloom vs floranova?

Why do people use the micro+bloom vs floranova?

I'm not saying you shouldn't but the floranova is similar and costs 1/3 as much per gal. Granted you can't drop the nitrogen in floranova. Which is why I assume H3ad and Reservoir use the bloom + micro over floranova.

Reasons?

shaking sux ;)

also a cleaner mix in rdwc systems... easier to change the ratio for coco, etc..

my plants do like floranova though; never had any issues when i ran it

I don't know why someone would need to store nutrients indefinitely or even for a year but that's a good reason :)

I also see the pain in shaking and cleaning / sterilizing equipment. I use some 12-17(mil(forgot) insulation to line some diy reservoirs/tables between runs I just huck it but it would be a pain to clean if I didn't do that. Reservoir condoms are expensive as hella too.

Thanks both of you.

I some recent runs I switched to larger pots (2G I think) with longer veg. That combined with summer heat created a veggy/green sparse budded mess that wanted to grow through the light.

Till then I had been doing ok w/o cutting the micro as per H3ead. Since I am seeing better results as far as maturation and crystals when I ditch the micro after the first 3 weeks or so.

That is reason alone. Also, same 6/9 formular can be used for mothers/clones.

But I also use some florilicious plus, which was pricy, and perhaps that is built into the floranova. I keep some 10 and 25 ml measuring cylnders around and it really easy to mix up nutes, so I have no compelling reason to try the nova.

I have found that the humic/fulvic in FloraNova makes it more stable with better nutrient absorbtion than the bloom+micro combo.

That's what I thought. As soon as I picked up my first round of Floranova and supps, I read REZ's post. I'm gonna try Floranova anyway, Flora lucas was too easy to get early yellow in flower.

On one hand the nova costs far less 1/3 but stores for 1 year. Buying it in bulk further reduces the price. If you can't use up your nutrients before they expire buy less or grow more. Oddly enough the floranova costs me 200$ for 10L if I buy 1gal at a time and 232 if I buy 10L at once.

Then on the other hand, you have nutrients that cost mort per gal and store indefinitely.

In your favor it would be nice if the Floranova stored forever and you could save your 30bucks or whatever it is buying in bulk but that's not the case assuming you don't use 10L before a years time.

*shrugs* I suppose it's all up to ones spending habits, in my situation the nova is cheapest bought in gals. I'd buy the 10L if it was cheaper because I'd use it well before a years time. If I came close to the year point i'd think twice... does the nova come with a mfg date? I'm looking at my bloom and micro and they dont..?

When do u run the floralicious plus into bloom? Is floralicious + ok for an ebb & gro with airstones only in the rez?

Used it before a few times in coco. But my ebb & gro im wondering how long to use it into flower. And wondering it's effect on the roots without airstones.

Thanks bro, or anyone else. B-safe

I use Floralicious Plus all the way through veg and flower.
I don't use airstones in my ebb and flow setup.
I have a recirculating Waterfarm setup with airstones in the reservoir and it works great in there as well.

Good deal. i was adding the fl + to about day 30, and since stopped. I had concern that it "could" induce some rot. Still trying to get over the idea of not running stones in the buckets.

But there healthy an frosty, day 42 now and just about to switch out the rez after 5 days of pk. will ads the FL+ to the next rez.

thanks dongle for the assurance. whats your drain/fill cycle sced?

Do it!
If anything, the beneficials (bacillus subtilis) in Floralicious Plus can help save you from root rot.
There is just so much good stuff in Floralicious Plus.

can anyone elaborate how to use floranova and floralicious plus?

I've been using the lucas method 2 part (0-5-10 veg/0-8-16 flower) and am looking to convert to a much simpler 1 part solution.

I have 2 questions:

1) I use the addback formula right now for the 3 part, what is the addback for the FN/FL+?
2) How much should i use per gallon of RO water, and when?

Full strength Lucas with Floranova Bloom is 8ml/gallon.
I assume 1/3 strength addback, same as before.

I use the floranova series and love it

Just tossing down my :2cents:

I have only used FN Bloom with Lucas formula for about 16 days now, but my res is without sediment, has maintained pH well, and it was not a PITA for me to do.
I don't understand all this mess about stressing the mixing of FloraNova. Here's the deal.
Shake the bottle vigorously for 30 seconds. Draw your volume of nutrients you need for the full reservoir volume. Put that into a jug with a gallon of water. Shake that for 30sec to 1min, and pour into the res. Stir with a stick, and you're done! If you want to go all the way, run your pump without the plumbing attached for a few minutes once the res is all mixed up and you'll be a happy camper, I bet.
The stuff doesn't really seem goopy to me once it's mixed. It's just that the shit is concentrated, not watered down, straight from the bottle.
Oh and by the way, I love FN so far. I'm very pumped to see how it goes through the whole of flowering. I haven't changed my res yet, but it's probably time tomorrow... Argh gotta go get RO water at the store.

Peace
