I've watched those two typos become mainstream since they first started showing up on the net. That was back when AOL became connected to the internet. Before then it was 95% literate people that were making up the bulk of the internet users.

for me the australian media pi$$ me off by adopting seemingly inane american mis-pronounciation...
colin powell {pronounced similar to colon}
mayo {until recently it has ALWAYS been mayonaise}
sarah {mis-pronounced SAR ah instead of SER ah}
the misuse of the word 'like' in a sentence
and of course mis-pronouncing UBER RELLA instead of umbrella!
just my 5 cents {used to be 2 cents but they got rid of 1 & 2 cent coins}

ps. not trying to pi$$ off my fellow growers in the USA, I just do not think wholesale adoption of another countries linguistic differences is needed...kinda like britts who adopt 'GANGSTA' talk...ali G is funny, but if everyone spoke like that....
