7 pictures that I can see?

Lol I just finished typing up how you start a new thread, and you have it done. You upload the pics to your gallery, then when you want to post them click Go Advanced:

I use the bottom option, it's easiest.

Funny guy!! LOL.. Thanks for helping teach me the ways of threads Scrub..
it took a few to figure it out but you just gave me info on the pics so thanks again..I took more pics Scrub so hopefully these are better. the ones yesterday were taken late at night. 7 plants would be cool..How could I do that? Meaning pots etc.I checked out Dr.Buds thread but his plants are WAY different than I could find...The fans on the right side are intake..the one at the top blows directly on the lights with an exhaust at the other side which would be on the left. there are 3 more exhaust below that one..I can turn anyone of them off with a switch depending on ambient in whatever room I have it in...please give feedback if anyone can or wants to..it would be much appreciated.. There is a reflector above the lights but I don't know if its big enough because I can still see a part of the light..I'll take pics with lights all in in a few

Scrub helped figure it would be 98.5 watts with 6 lights but now I am going to try one more..These fans, especially the 80mm cooling fan, really keep it nice and cool now...I am doing a test tomorrow...there is 1.35 cubic feet in there..the case is a Lian-Li tower. which is 24 inches tall, 8.5 inches wide and 22 inches long

Looks pretty good, have you tried all 7 lights in there yet? Looks like you might need more cooling....maybe

Before I built my light cab, my temps were over 90 degrees and rising in my case.. won't really know for sure until you get all your lights in there and watch the temps..

thanks Aero..we'll see tomorrow how it goes..I figure things will be okay..When I had 6 fans, i did a test and the temps were just at the 80degrees mark so I figured I'd try a real cooling fan too at the top...i'll do a test with the 6 lights again then I'll put the other one in.. I tried a few of the more powerful fans and it was like I had an airport in my room with the noise they put out so I stuck with the others which are way more quiet..I do have a choice between 4-42 watts or 6-7 23 watts...I went a little crazy buying lights..this is an experiment to see what the max one of these pc's can take but I also want to do a grow..I have 2 different types of seeds to use ..1 is an easyryder(Fem) and the other is a skunk/Kush...I know its not as clean looking like yours Aero but its a try...the case is aluminum too so that keeps heat down too

Still smoking the good stuff I see Scrub ..lol

Yes mine sounds like a 747 taking off, you will eventually get used to it, I actually like the whirrrrr, puts me to sleep.

Go with the skunk/kush for sure, the aluminum will help cooling quite a bit.

Scrub you are hilarious:biglaugh: thanks Aero. Got those auto seeds free with the Kush. Rather go 12-12 with the Skunk.guess the smell will be something to deal with. After 4 hours, the temps are at 80 so is that bad? there is 7 lights going too. Maybe I could get a more powerful intake blowing on the lights? Anyone willing to give feedback would be great

Hehe I just keep the mood light, and the thread bumped, while the experts answer the tricky questions :)

In my view 80 is not bad at all. I think optimal is around mid 70s? It's lights off right now and my ambient temp is 82.7. 78.8 in the cab. Lights on temp is around 2.5* above ambient, running on the stealth level I like. So that's low 80s and it's looking pretty sweet so far.

I've found a lot of confusion comes with temps. I will never ever EVER use a thermometer that isn't shielded from light. If you are doing that, then frankly I wouldn't trust a single one of your temp readings and that goes for anyone else's temps who is reading. It's one of those things that you have to experience I guess, to see how real it is, but feel free to look it up - it's a very known issue and if I had room in my sig, I would post a warning there. My temps got cooler when I moved the sensor from a long way away, to an inch away from some red hot PLLs. This is just not how things work, so after shading it, all temps were entirely logical.

end of rant! :D

You are completely right Scrub.. I believe you and Aero (Imight be wrong) talked about the same thing. thats why I put the sensor under a little cardboard thingy to give it shade. Sorry about those crappy pics...new camera on the way(it was cheap) so better pics soon with everything in place for all to see...About that reflector...It doesn't ring right with me either...I'll check out that thread you recommended right now... the way things are now, is that you can see part of the light and I don't want that...thanks bro

Hey don't pay too much mind to my earlier reflector comment - I realised on seeing more pics that I had it mixed up. I think your multi (many!) exhaust fan setup is not good on paper. But if it works it works. If it were me, I would have one strong fan as exhaust. I definitely see the attraction of more, weaker fans, but if you turn off an exhaust fan, you just turned it into a passive intake. And if you can switch intakes and exhausts and stuff that easily, well, shit, everything I know is wrong. There are optimal places for things. Exhaust at top, intakes at bottom. The very top and the very bottom.

Now, I believe aero's PC proves me wrong on this. His setup is kinda similar right? He has an intake fan up top blowing on the lights like you (please correct me if I'm wrong and I'm sorry if so). In my very first PC the way I built it was with the intake at the top, passive. That has gotta be good, right? We would think? The air is coming straight onto the bulb.

But for me, that setup was terrible. I think Aero mentioned somewhere the desire to have your exhaust up top, intakes on lower opposite side to efficiently circulate air. So this is the part where his magic turns to voodoo for me. I don't understand it. Perhaps he just has so much freakin' exhaust goin' on thru that blower that it doesn't matter - any intake is gonna get crazy cfm thru it. So that's the only way it can seem to work in my head.

What I'm trying to get to is that if you are unhappy with temps and wish to improve it, the first thing I would try (after a single undervolted Delta fan for exhaust) would be to block that top intake for the lights, and have the fan in front of where it was, blowing air on the lights with air that's already in the cab (which has come from ground level which is the coolest air in your house).

Like I say, if it works it works. But I get very lost when intake fans come into the mix, and the fact that it's not intaking solely at the bottom throws more confusion at me. I've never used an intake fan once, except for a really weird cab which will only confuse if I explained, lol.

I myself will never buy a low amperage fan again. Waste of plastic and space. Even for stealth. It's cheaper too if you look at the amps you are getting per dollar. And it is those amps that are cooling your cab.

Thanks for the input Scrub...I didn't like my reflector at all now it covers the lights from the front when the panel is off and reflects ALL the lights down where they belong... I am learning as I go along I guess...Do you mean to cover that intake and put another fan on top of it blowing air around the cab??I can very easily cover that fan ...The exhaust at the top left(80mm cooling fan with aluminum grilles is a .50 amp fan) and the one below it is .24 amps...the bottom ones can be covered too or just turned off via the switches I installed just like any of the exhaust fans or I can just cover them.......The reason the temps were at 80 (just realized) was because I blew the adapter...That 600ma one we talked about way back...I got antsy I guess and wanted to try it before the 3 amp adapter came in the mail...When the right one gets here(hopefully soon!) I am almost positive the temps will go way down...I know all these fans are crazy but its fun pushing the envelope on this pc thing:woohoo:I'll get better quality pics soon of it running with shots of the thermometer...do you think I am just being a little crazy with this whole idea? I believe I will be able to do a complete grow with all this stuff in there and have plenty of room to do it semi-properly..This will be my first pc grow thats for sure but the fun is just beginning... I won't give up till I make it happen:wallbash:lol

I don't think youre crazy at all mate. I think you have a pretty much finished box. Seal up the light leaks or whatever and 80 is fine imo, if the new changes make it better - great.

In terms of a whole grow, don't forget the carbon filter. Do you have other people in the same house or nearby who don't know about this grow? A computer grow can potentially stink out the whole corridors of an apartment complex. Maybe it won't....but it could. So you tell me, does this describe your living situation?

oh and about the fan thing, I meant block the intake at top right. Remove the fan blowing on the lights from that intake, and hang that fan inside the cab, an inch or two to the left of where it was on the "wall". Of course, this would affect everything radically, so you would have to consider another intake (low) of course.

But frankly, I would be stoked if I got 80 in a computer. So your setup is fine.
