Started anew and thought I would document here to learn from your comments.
Two 4'x8' platforms, each with 21 5 gal buckets. Each platform has three Magnum XXXL hoods with 600w bulbs each (total 1800w per platform). Each platform has 4 air pumps split among the buckets giving about 1.25w of air to each bucket. System is non-recirculating and drain to waste. Water changes are 5 to 10 days apart, depending on ph and EC status. Ferts are House & Garden. Room has a 2.5 ton A/C that is needed less and less as we march towards fall. RO makes @ 100 gal/day. 2 water storage barrels and 1 mixing barrel. Fans are on the wall and not pictured. Strain is power plant from Dutch Passion. out of 50 seeds last year, we got about 26 strong females. All numbered, cloned and monitored to select the one mother, which has now been cloned into 6 mothers and all the plants here. One side is 2 weeks into veg and the other side is 1 week into veg.

H & G nutes

H & G nutes

I have been using Hydro A&B from House & Garden. In this setup, should I be using Aqua Flakes A&B?

Any thought on this?

I only have experience with OG Kush (shit yielder unless you want to spend 6 weeks LST'ing), AK 47, Bubba and Power Plant. I am testing BlueDream with this run now. The strain of AK47 I had was a shit and a waste of time. I'm looking for a good cut now. Anyway, of the 25 or so good PP females we had from the original seed grow, the lowest yielder was 2 oz per plant and the highest was 10 oz per plant. We kept one of the highest yielders that also produced the most attractive buds with the best buzz. In other words, if you get some Dutch Passion PP seeds you will find your own line to clone. In this setup I am expecting no less then 4oz/plant (1.3g/w) but hopefully more. So yes, I think it is a good yielder. We'll see.

Thanks for the info man i`ll definitely be picking up some PP next time. I did my first run with AK and got a solid pheno, but nothing to write home about for the price. I`m hoping to get up to atleast .6gpw to .7 this next run. Only pulled like .51gpw on my first run under 3200 in soil, but switched to 4000 for more uniformity (ill get a journal going eventually, when its worthy of everyones time and mine).

Keep fightin the good fight,

Looking good... I love your hoods.

Do you mind posting a quick review? How to they compare to other reflectors you have used in the past? Do you think they are worth the extra coin?

I know your running 3-600s per 4x8 table but do you think with these magnum reflectors you could get away with 2-600's over a 4x8 table with a mover?

any insight to these magnum reflectors is much appreciated.

On a side note I am thinking of growing out some AK47 for the first time. I assume the strain you had wasnt from serious seeds? Were did you get this "shit" ak strain from?

In my first grows I used lower quality hoods ("Easy Cool 6"). The hoods were always warm to the touch, releasing heat into the room (I live in the desert so heat is not wanted) and the light distribution was bad from the start. In the setup I have, the only plants that ever got sufficient light were the center rows, and that is where my production and quality came from. I knew right away that, for me, I needed better light dispersion. So I shopped and came up with these Magnum XXXl's. I am veg'ing with mostly 2 hoods per side and all is well. I have the center hoods on each platform light up for 4 hours a day out of the 18/6 cycle. As I slowly lower the lights and change my bulbs for flower, these hoods will be about 8" to 12" from the plants, but still wide enough to give plenty of light to the rows of buckets on sides of the platform. When I begin flower cycle, I will use all 3 hood 100% of the time in the 12/12. For me and my setup, and given the fact that I need to veg into the daylight hours when it is often over 110 degrees, the fact that I can do so with fewer watts is a plus to my A/C bill. For flower, the plants can take all the light I can give them and I can run my 12 hour on cycle at night so to diminish any A/C use, with the added benefit of great light distribution and better buds. Plus these hoods run so cool (and cool to the touch as they are so well built) that I can lower them closer then other hoods I have tried. More light, better bigger buds and less A/C bills. So for me, these are the bomb. Properly spaced, I could do the whole grow with 2 hoods per side with no mover, but more light is better, especially in flower. The hoods are huge and heavy but very very well build and I am glad I bought them. I think I paid $185/ea.

I got the shit AK47 strain in LA from a shop on Sunset Blvd, right next to the "Whiskey a go go". The owner was a typical liar. I dropped a couple of hundred for 25 of them only to find they were shit. I need to find a good strain when I get around to it. I, like you, hear Serious Seeds is the place to get them although I have been seeing posts here lately that their quality control is slipping lately. I'll probably end up ordering 30 or 40 seeds and hopefully find a good "one" to use in the future unless I can obtain a good cut somewhere.
Thanks
