Resovior water exchange?

What do you guys use to drain your rez and fill with new water? I have access to a bathtub, and bathroom sink for hookups. Like a bilge pump? Hand pump?

Only talking a 30 gallon res, but draining it by hand is a PIA.:wallbash:

I keep a small pond pump in my res for just this reason. It connects to the tube you see coming out of the right front corner. It will drain all but 1/4 inch of the res. A second pump is used to transfer solution from the mixing tub to the res.

Just buy a aquarium pump and hook it up to plastic tubing long enough to reach your bathtub.

How far is your res from the bathtub?

I know you're not talking to me but just for fun, my tub is about 75 feet away and upstairs to boot. Nearest sink is about 30 feet away but, means snaking the hose through the house.
Being in the garage, I dump the water into the washing machine about 3 feet away and hit the drain cycle.

My res is a good 2' above the floor, I've got a drain fitting on the bottom of it, I just hook up a hose, kill the pump & run it dry.

I've made a habit of designing my setup so I can either correctly or incorrectly (sometimes the access method is highly questionable) just use a single fitting + a hose to drain into something convenient.
