What are you growing? With long flowering strains, 14 weeks or more, start at 12/12. For 8 week strains, I'd fill 1/2 the screen in veg and then flip.

HT....don't necessarily think that vegging more of the screen prior to flip will increase yields. it might, it might not.....

but....

There are only so many internodes ( and spacing between...) that your fixed screen area can even accommodate. stretchier plants will have more space between each bud site vs a short, squawk indica

also, lets not forget that your light source can only shine so bright, and wide....and penetrate only so deep into the canopy too.

i really think the reason Freezerboy used the 1/2 way mark...was to allow for training the branches...allowing "breathing" room between bud sites....ripening and true flowering to occur. i guess its like a parking lot -- you can't have too many cars, too close to each other, with no room to manuver....there must to rows and aisle....places to have elbow room and proper security measures ( ie....in our MJ case -- light, air flow...etc )

kinda babbled a little...hope you don't mind....

did it help any ?

Maybe a tad but, ScrOG leads to incredibly dense growth that has to be kept trimmed to avoid mold. By filling the screen prior to the flip, the ensuing stretch will increase density even more. In the long run, it will simply increase the amount of the plant that goes in the trash.

The point is to max the cab, not the plant.

This is a .gif of 15 days worth of veg growth under a screen, getting close to flipping. FreezerBoy is right, around 1/2 full you flip, the idea being plants generally get twice as big during flowering. That way the screen fills right up as the stretch finishes around week 3 flower.

Cheers
