What's new

250 watt lumatek, 1 plant, unknown strain

well, i couldnt take it anymore....had to show off to someone, and why not online, probably the safest souls i could tell!

haha, anyways, the set up is a brand SPANKIN new lumatek 250 ballast, 6 inch air cooled reflector, with a 270 agromax lamp.

1 female, in a 2 gal pot filled with rocks at the bottom / pure coir.

its been topped, and higher branches have been periodically pinched to allow bottom branches to catch up and even out. this has proved much success in obtaining a SOG plant. this plant has 6 prominant SOG bud sites.

heres from seedling to current! enjoy!
and please, as always comment with insight/recommendations/advice!

this is the seedling that turned into the fem. that im currently growing
check out the intense underside purpling

heres pics of all three beans i popped. sadly only the purp one was a fem.

the shortest one is the fem, as you could have guessed.

my brand new set up....lumatek ballasts are the shit

the three seedlings now vegging away, no sign of sex yet in this pic

the lone fem about to be transplanted

root porn?

a fresh 2 gal pot of coke co!

the fem on the left, next to a very vigorous very impressive strain/pheno that is unfortunately a male. however i have plans for him. at the first sign of pollen bursts i shall collect and attempt to pollenate the fem with a few dashes of his man juice. its such an impressive male IMO that i couldnt not try to breed him out! considering ive never done any breeding before, this should be interesting

male close up....wow perfection

and.....finally....weve caught up to today!

well, this is obviously where it gets interesting!
stick with me as i will keep posting up

thanks for looking!

they are starting to bud out now! upon close examination to the inside the the first flower i can already see crystals. this is a good sign for the future i suppose.

im going to start applying big bud now at 1/2 tsp per gal = 200 ppm

btw, the nutes i use

FN B currently 8ml
Floralicious P 2ml
cal/mag 5 ml
and maybe 5ml base

thats it. im going to try to contain myself and not really bump these amounts at all. more is less right???

spiffy!

i love the beer cups too. don't let anyone tell you roots need to be in the dark. they can't see! they don't care! roots dont want to suffocate or be dry.

the purpling under the leaf is waycool.

when you say maybe 5ml base what do you mean?

the beer cups worked great....the mix in there was 50/50 coco perlite.....i just had to water them about 3-4 times a day....i sometimes bottom fed with about 2 inches up worth of solution

the purpling was very vivid and nice color....i am hoping it is some sort of precursor to the color of the buds! i have no clue since ive never grown this strain before and i dont even no what it is.

5mL base means.....well...its pH up thats all......its a strongly basic solution...in chemistry its known as base.

heres today

the canopy is about 12-10 inches from the glass. this shall leave a perfect window for buds to sit as close as can be to the glass.

i decided to make a couple ties to distribute the branches as most uniform and spacious as can be under the hood.

lots a room now!

prop somthing under the pot to make the plant be about 6-8 inches from the glass, you can be abit more aggressive on the training too, you should try and aim to fill asmuch of the area you have

everything looks good man, ill be watching

ive been searching my house constantly, even trying to look at objects in a different way...all for the purpose of wedging something between the pot and the rubbermaid it sits on! i cant find anything....but the good news is that the main sites of budding action should sit right in this zone within? a week. stretch is bringing the nugs to the perfect zone. and im trying to fill the most area, of intense light, as i can. its hard to see in the pics, but thats a corner of a room and the hood is about 24 x18 which leaves those 6 colas directly beneath it.

and thanks cranapple!

i did think about using books yesterday.....my only options are college texts, yearbooks, or good reads, and most importantly, i dont want to sound like a nerd, but none of these im willing to sacrifice, in the case that a cup of nutes gets accidentally spilled below?
so oh well, in the mean time, they grow closer and closer to the glass day by day. they should really be sitting right in the key zone, once stretch has finished!

beautiful plants

you grown much before? as you seem to know what your doing with the topping to keep the sites very even... very healthy plants ( even if chemical )

what nutes? canna ?

keep up the good job,

thanks habeeb!

to tell you the truth i dont have much experience....maybe 2 years worth doing this. the methods i used on this plant thus far consisted of, topping at 6th? node. i cut the undergrowth, leaving the top 3 nodes with branches. this leaves 6 main colas. then once they started gaining height i pinched (crushing the branches) on the tallest colas. this temporarily halts growth a day or 2, all the while the lower node branches still grow normal and eventually catch up to the taller node branches. i did this consequtive times until an even plane of bud sites developed. then just yesterday i did a little minor tye job.

they seem to really like the added couple inches of space i gave them, ill probably make adjustments once more and pull each branch about an inch or 2 more outward.

overall the plant is taking shape as best as i could have hoped/imagined in my head.

the nutes are GH floranova bloom. with a little floralicious plus.

ill post some pics soon, thanks for keepin up

ahhh yesss i love the perked up stance, it screams success to me!

and first bud formation, yes my camera is a POS. sorry bout the constant HPS pics, in the future ill try to get some dark shots with flash, and maybe a better MP camera for close ups

today 10/13 update

well i had been watering them cautiously the last 2 weeks ensuring they would establish a good root system. i was very careful in adding any water to the center of the pot, the center which contained the original pre-transplant root ball. if i did get water in there it would show overwatering symptoms, and leaves would curl under. not cool. but lately i probably let the center root ball dry out too much, this shows similar symptoms to brief overwatering. however, there were twisted leaves and curled under leaves in a different manner. i recoginized what i was doing and fixed it.

therefore, to sum all this bullshit up, i will be watering throughly and, once daily, at least, from now on.

i forsee that i will gradually increase the frequencies of watering as flowering goes on.

heres some pics!

let me no what yall think....any recommendations on nutes at this time period????

i switch off between 1 gal of 8ml lucas FN B, and then 1 gal of 8ml FN B + 200ppm 0-15-40 big bud.

should i go ahead and add epsoms????
i will add molasses, but im just going to save it for as late flower as i can, the gnats seem to smell it from a mile away!!!!! i have yet to use it because of them!

concerning the top right cola, well....i accidentally snapped the top of it off. HA i was slightly, or so i thought, bending the tops of the colas out. that sucks but oh well. anyways they are starting to fill in!

heres some pics, non HPS for once, my camera really is a huge piece of shit. it seems like it has .1 megapixels. the shots really dont do justice at all in close up clarity. unfortunately, i let the ppms get a little too high it seems, happens when it dries out too much, when im obviously unavailable to water. i wouldnt just neglect it! ha. and yea, the leaves curled under and some twisting is prevalent. its still cool though, they never really tipped burned. i flushed them right after these pics were takin. the buds are looking HUGE i can say. the biggest cola is approaching baseball bat size, about the same diameter and half the length. 3 others are the size of bananas. im dying to know how these finish, size wise! they seem to have the potential to go big. the plant currently drinks a half a gallon a day. its a pain in the ass to hand x4 a day.

i had a Gravity nightmare and started to get burning all on the upper fans. so that sucks, but here she is. the colas are BIG and DENSE. very impressed with bud size, however, the crystals are lacking. i can attribute night temps of 80 and day of 84 to this. they usually set in later for me anyways. i plan on going another 4 weeks.

this colas is baseball bat sized. amazing, i cant wait till they get even bigger and really put on some cryst!

another cola, banana sized, this one was in the corner.

nugs, you can see little crystals, the calyxes are REALLLLY crowning out right now, can you see them??. the Gravity along with some pk1314 is really doing the trick for my final weight!

and this is what a nice Gravity burn looks like
