Dog. Bullmastiff. Without a doubt. :)

I would like one too, don't have the time or place for one at the moment though.

all dogs are good, it doesn't matter if it's a "strain" or a "hybrid", it's that individual dog's personality that is way more important.

Don't rush into it, observe. Pick a puppy that picks you is a good advice.....you have to have that special chemistry happening.

My next first choice (depending if I outlive my current mutt) would be a Jack Russell Terrier ....most dogs from that breed have intelligence, loyalty, attitude, energy and spunk in abundance. This breed is small so they are easy to get friends to babysit them when you go away.

Every smoker should have a dog. They make great listeners and sometimes (esp when the bud is good) will add to the conversation, though mostly it's one-sided.

woof!

I voted Pit, but have always had pure bred Staffordshire bull terriers. great with kids, but still have that fear factor for the non dog lover.

I've had purebreds and shelter mutts; I love 'em all.

Do some research; make sure you understand the traits of the breeds. Dogs need to be part of the family, so you want to be sure you can live with them day in and day out.

Go for intelligence, Australian Shepard. I know it seems counter-intuitive to put australian and intelligence together but they are one of the most intelligent dogs out there. JK

That ain't that bad...my dogs are average 3x of how much those Bullmastiff pups are...

I trained mine where they don't even eat/take treats from anyone else than me...and their temper is awesome...my 3 year old is taking rides on them!
