i want to get som responses on my dwc grow setup.

3 rubbermaid 30 gal containers

pvc pipe for air intake


this is my res....i need to finish laying tarp on the sides

heres what it looks like from the inside. i dont have the other lamp hooked up,
the reason why i chose gooseneck lamps are because i do not want the plants to stretch for light.i can agle them as they grow and i made a fixture on the top of the box to clamp the lights onto

i am going to install a thermometer and humidity reader once i find velcro patches

theres also going to be a webcam so i can look at my babies from outside when the lights are on.



tell me what you think. im going to add more pix when im finished....should be this weekend...i should have my seeds here by then too ( its been a week and a half!!)

the whole thing didnt cost much...around 200 i believe ...the foil tape was $12 a roll!! it was more than the lights!!!

if you look at the netpots youll see i used electric tape ( i also taped a single strip around the pots) so nothing slides out. one of the holes are off tho.:joint:

im going to make the carbon filter during veg. i have a really good idea for it.

i also have a good idea so when it gets too hot i can cool it down with this thing i thoght up. just ask if you want to know..

like i said the res is unfinished due to me just wanting to teak a break.

lol see kirby? he is watching over this entire grow!

the lid is the last lid on top of the 3rd box. the computer fan is sealed to the lid and held with zip ties( i di it so the glue can dry but i just left it on because i thought it would keep it more secure)

the whole entire thing is lined with electric tape and duct tape so no smell gets out

on the very topmost lid im making a carbon scrubber that is going to sit on top of everything and a duct hose connected on top of where the computer fan is.the carbon scrubber is going to use a 4" duct fan to pull air.

i havent finished the res for another reason. i need to insstall a valve so i can drain the rez.
im not lifting 30 gal everytime i have to change it.im just going to have it pull water out into a bucket when i have to drain.

im going over it this weekend with silicone sealant around the edges and around the rez valve.

i lined the res with tarp to keep the roots in the dark.the container isnt very lightproof so i added it.

its all stealth too. i had a freind come over suddenly and i dint have time to put it up because i had it out in my den fixing it. he didnt even realize what it was.:woohoo:

The only suggestion I have for you is to make sure that the lid that holds your netcups will be able to maintain some holding power when weight is applied. I had some Home depot bucket lids and after time the heat and the weight was too much and my plant fell thru. I had to end up rigging it up ghetto style. I'll be buying better lids in the future.

yea i checked on that...they shouldnt warp and fall through because i havve them lined with electric tape. plus the hole for the cups is a little smaller that the top of it. i put 10 rolls of quarters in each one to see if they can support the wieght lol

just germed my seeds.
tomorrow im putting the finishing touches on my setup...

i somehow got hydroton for free.... shocked the hell out of me


im so excited for tomorrow

pix of finished setup tomorrow.

can someone fill me in on LED lights?
i was thinking about them and if they are benificial to plant growth.
wondering if i could add a couple along with my cfls?

sounds kinda janky i dunno tho

my rez busted last nite.
im fixing it right now. well taking a break..


2 of my seeds cracked....i got the ak seed and the widow confused but i figued it out lol.

i didnt get the cali hash seed tho i got a random La women seed....wierd...

now i have to check because the la woman seed is the only non fem seed i have so i dont want a penis to pop up and ruin the lasbo party.


GORILLA TAPE IS THE BEST TAPE EVER!

so i came into a problem last night, the tarp in my rez busted. now lets recap lol.

this was a really dumb idea so no need to remind me of it. lol
as soon as i finished my tarp in my res i was so excited with it that i wanted to fill it and test it out....yea bad move...it leaked only a little by the nozzle so i fixed that. now the main feupah . the water was all cloudy..not REALLY cloudy but a light cloudy.hmm whats that..? oh thats just the undried silicone that was holding your airstones and the nozzle together...turns out i missed a place in the tarp somewhere near the airstones.so there was a little water all behind the tarp where water isnt supposed to be. the odd thing is i placed a good luck oragami turtle made from a dollar, i placed under the tarp was soaked.... fucking wierd man.

but i fixed it this morning and had to kinda redo the airstone layout. i put pennies underneath the airstones so it would have some wieght. i really hope it works out because im really thinking of ripping out all the tarp and just letting the water sit in it as is its going to be in my closet in the dark anyway???...fustration:wallbash:at max.


i see i have some other gorilla lovers in here!!

i ran the 4 daylight lights today while i was at work.turns out the temp was between 85 degrees and 88. thats good right?
(btw my girlfriend checked the temp every now and then when i was working)


3 seeds popped!!! yay.

wow. after a long nite of filling and unfilling and filling again...everything is finally done.i had to buy a new rez cause mine had a terrible leak.

pots are in!
res is bubblin
just have to wait now till they start reachin for the light.


im going to work on a new res after i work on my scrubber.

i hope i did everything right....i just have to wait and see.

does anyone know my wait time?? from putting the seeds in the pots till they show?
ill post some pictures after work.

2nd morning.
they are showing their heads.
the ak looks green and healthy the other 2 havent really shown like the ak.
the ph was high today so i had to fix it
im only using one third of the lucas formula

temp rose up to 90 degrees so im kinda concerned.
i wish i had a better camera to post pix of the other 2 because im worried about them

im going to look for threads on nute burn and ph issues on plants.

Hello,
Get Rid Of The Tarp In The Rez. Paint (Krylon) A Couple Of Coats On The Outside Of The Tote With Black Paint. After It Dries Put The Tote Over Your Head To See If Any Light Still Comes In. If It Does Hit Those Spots Again. Then Paint Tote White.
One Less Thing To Worry About Leaking. No Tarp To Tear, Easier To Clean Out. The Folds Could Hold Nasties Like Bad Bacteria Etc!

i tossed the tarp nites ago.
i didnt paint it tho. i just bought another tub and put it inside the other one.
no light gets into it.
thanks tho im sure im going to look into that on my next grow

i have some girls for you guys to meet.

say hell0 to ak 47, la woman , and white widow
the current temp and humidity.

everything is looking good except for the ph.
i went out and bought actual ph down (thanks freezerboy) but the day after when i check it, its back to between 6.5 and 7.0
i really want to keep it under 6.5

i wonder if its the lava rock?maybe .

i HAVE to buy a small fan that can fit in the cab but i cant find a 4 inch table fan anywhere??!!! i dont want to order anything else online. i may have to tho because im loking for an inline duct fan for my scrubber.
