new grower question

im confused as to how much i should be feeding my plants from the time i put the clones in dirt up untill i put them into flower and from flowering until harvest. im using sunshine 4 dirt and my nutes are floranova grow and bloom i also use mexican bat guano every four weeks and silica blast with every watering and feeding. i feed them every other watering. the city water i use has a ppm of 590. how much can i increase the ppm of food at any one time? i am using floros for veg and a 600w hps for flower.i keep 7 plants going in veg and wonder if the 600 is enough for flowering the same amount? i also use a bubbler in the water for twenty four hours to evapoate the chlorine. my plants look good and then i upped the nutes three hundred ppm and burned the snot out of them!! i flushed them with water and only 2 plants took a bad hit but i think they will make it as the new growth looks ok. what is a good feeding regiment and how do i go about upping the ppm of food? also is there a site i can go to that will help me with the basics so i dont have to bother you guys all the time. i dont wanna be a pain in the arse. t y for your time and help!

I'm just a newbie too but, I believe nutrient amounts are very strain specific.
One strain may drink it down full strength like Kool-aid and,
another may not need one drop her whole life.

It may help others answer your question if they knew the strain you are growing.

Good luck

600w is good enough for 7 plants the problem your having is your water is bad get a reverse osmosis water filter system 590 ppm way to bad for water 200 ppm is bad
general hydroponics has flora nova-hard water for high ppm city water get the filter flush
and fix nutts half strengh ph 6.3-68 in soil make sure right after you flush the shit out of them add the nutts right after you flush.i recommend you keep an eye on them nutts they tend to have lots of salts.i stoped useing gh for that reason kept geting nutrient lock and waco ph levels

the strain is red diesel. sorry im so so new to this! dominicangreen, what nutes are you using in soil? i keep my ph at 6.5 to 7 but more like 6.5 all the time.i have tested the run off fromm the pots after watering and after feeding and am getting readings of 4.5 to 5. i dont think thats good but a guy told me "soil is a buffer, i wouldnt worry about it". whadda ya think? also i am using three gallon pots so how much water would you say to flush them with?

three gallon pots
flush each with 9 gallons of water

"soil is a buffer"
It is more forgiving than hydro, not really a buffer.
I would think the wide swing between 7.0 and 4.5 is trouble.
Others more experienced can tell you how best to control that.

I do consider soil a buffer....but soil gets old, nutes and minerals get used up and generally after all this the ph starts to go haywire. I use FFoF soil (rich)
except new babies (Happy Frog) and transplant often to larger containers as they grow.
That helps me keep everyhing in balabce with some fresh soil. I also ph EVERYTHING that goes into the pot to approximately 6.7.

good luck.

Yor ec runoff of 4.5 is WAY too high----flush well as folks here have said or transplant asap. My ec meter only goes to 3.6 (2520ppm) and Ive never come CLOSE to an ec that high (growing hydro) so it goes without saying (imo) if that is the number then you have a problem.

good luck

are you talking ph or ec in your runoff.......doesnt matter really....both bad. transplant into new soil or flush the shit out of them with ph coorect water. I'll leave you alone now....promise.

good luck

Actually I screwed up first by mis-reading your posts and questions. Flora Nova products generally have enough calcium, iron, mag etc that you won't (hopefully) have to add Calmag.....so Ive been told. The others here gave you excellent advice as a tapwater with a starting ppm of 590 just isn't realistically good for your plants. An RO sytem is perfect.

With RO water your starting ppm should 10 or under. For post flush Id use 1/4 strength nutes (ph 6.7-ish) and them let them dry out. How old are your plants and are they in veg or bloom?

PS EC is another term for ppm although EC is not usually used in the US. Ec="electrical conductivity" is the only REALLY accurate way of measuring what's in the water and then converted by your meter to ppm which are NOT exact numbers but it sure works for me.. Stick with ppms.....easier imhumbleo. There are two dfferent conversions for ec: ec x 5 or ec x 7 (again generally in US it's ec x7)....but check yours and which conversion table it uses.

If you can, try and buy distilled or RO till your system arrives.

good luck
