Taking cuts while flowering

Hey all, I find myself in a predicament. I lost a mother plant indoors.I have a cut that is flowering outdoors. It is close to the end. I'll probably start washing it out in another week. Anyway what I'm wondering is can you get cuts to root if they're so far along in flowering? Thnx Grunt

it will take a little longer to root if you take a cut during flowering. once it roots and starts veggin it will go through a wierd little phase but it will be fine after a few weeks

i have done it useing roottec rooting gel.i cut it the same way.by the way it was a bud i did it to it was cut dipped in gel and placed on a peace of aluminum with a hole so that stem pooked through the foil and left in a tray to floot on water i place a flourecent bulb over them on 24 hours light and it took 2 weeks for signs of veg again after that it just rooted.so yeah you can do it i had also added to the water thrive alive b-1 red and ph 6.0 i didnt airate the water i think it would have rooted faster if i did so

I'd sacrifice todays yield for tomorrows by taking multiple cuts. People have done what you're asking but, if this were my first time at it, I'd want insurance in numbers.

This is one area I don't do very well. I have a Sour D cross 6 weeks old that won't budge. It's green but won't grow. I have another Zombie Virus that must grow or else the pheno is GONE. When my back's to the wall, I'll reveg the trimmed root ball of the plant along with a little bottom growth. That's worked every time, so far. I may have to do it with the ZV.

Do what freezerboy suggests.

My personal observation and tip, take a few of them and pinch off as much of the 'budsite' as you can but leave enough fan leaves as you would with a regular clone.

imo, you shave off a few days off the rooting vs the clones that have the budsite left.

Do you cut off any signs of blooming from the cutting right away? Does it improve rooting time?

Edit:
You read my mind while I was typing Dank-j. Thanks for the answer.

Yup, count on some failures if you're not 100% rock solid with your cloning.

And don't restrict yourself, anything leafy & green can root & reveg. I recently cloned a bud that's now in the process of revegging and boy does it look odd.

I can root veg and early bloom cuts easily but buds give me hell. I might try air layering if these two strains don't make it. Glad to hear yours is growing.

I've done it several times.
I take a cut and throw it in the areo cloner for a couple weeks or so, they keep going forward with flowering, but they do eventually throw out roots and return to veg growth.

You can also flower it out, harvest, and then reveg--leaving a few popcorn buds on lower branches to take clones from later or turn it into a new Mom. Assuming the strain is conducive to that and you have the space. Helpful if you are concerned about reducing your yield but want to save the genes.

I have cloned a 'bud' before, like others have said--it's slower but it will work eventually.

Thanx alot everyone. The plants I want to take cuts from are outdoors and about 8' tall. I still have 5 seeds, they are my back up till I make more seed. I've been cloning for over 20 years so it'll be no sweat. Just never tried it this far into the flower phase. The strain I'm attempting to save is Apollo 13. Lemon lime smell, looong glistening colas, even all the peripheral growth wants to be a cola and a kick ass high ( one of those cut thru stones where your seriously ripped but can still work) . It's a classic! Thanx again

Don't be afraid, i took some clones a few weeks ago while the girls were in their second week of flower, put in some rockwool and in just 8 days they were ok.

Cheers mate
