Flower With 6500K CFLS ?

Has anyone ever flowered with 6500K daylight CFLS ? Would 6 42W 6500K cfls flower 1 plant in a mini scrog well enough? Before you say "get 2700K bulbs" dont waste yours and my time by telling me this as it isnt an option at this time.. I have 1 G13 Labs Diesel plant in a mini scrog under 6 42W 6500K cfls and would like input on how well the plant will flower under them.

thanks

yes they will still flower, i think bud dencity will rise but the yeild wont be too badly damanged, cfls still give out some of the flower spectrum.

thanks alot for the reply.. Im using 6 of these 42W DAYLIGHT CFL's for a 1 plant 2'x1' mini scrog >

I was going to add a 400W hps but I had some unforseen expenses ( damn car broke down ) this month so I cannot get the 400W HPS/6 inch inline fan/carbon filter like I was planning ( not right now , but I am in a few months ) .. By the time I buy more CFL's/adapters/cords etc I may as well just buy the HPS ( found a 400W hps shipped for 120.00 im gonna buy in a few months ). So I just cannot justify buying more CFL's just for flowering since im going to get a 400W hps next grow anyway.. You know what I mean? And besides its just a single plant mini scrog.

Yeah man, you can flower under those lights, however you will not get the same light penetration you would get from other hid lights.

you may want to consider offsetting a few of the bulbs in other parts of the room to insure that light gets to all budsites like around the sides of the box or somthing.

penetration is not an issue as I said im doing a mini scrog. My little box ( for this scrog grow ) is only 2' x 1 1/2' x 2'...I will be getting an HPS at a later date.

Yes, I ended up with alot of stretchy branches and fluffanoogin buds.

lol.. well thats two diff replies.. the guy above you said it will cause denser buds but less yield.. And you say it will cause fluffy buds.. I tend to agree with the fluffy bud theory, but I will see I suppose. I dont have a choice in the matter this time. I was just wondering if anyone has flowered with 6500K cfls and what the outcome was.

thanks for the replies guys

I've had good results under 6500k cfls. dense buds and a good yield, I presonally think thast it might be a little strain dependant...I have one strain that seemed to do better under 6500k but all my other strains do better under ~3000k .. yield is usually comparable but tric development is the main difference I noticed....like all my strains but the one practically exploded with trics a few days after being moved under "warm whites" from "daylights"

I like to think that I've tried both...and as far as one vs the other I would definitely go with the lower K to flower with. Ideally I think the 2 spectrums should be mixed at 1:2 ratio, ie...3000k 3000k 6500k

if kept close to the plants, it shouldnt cause fluffy buds, with a scrog youll do fine.

6400k causes less stretch, so the guy who posted lanky branches probably didnt have the bulbs close enough, or used too much nitrogen

well even if i might be wrong on that, your wrong that 6400k causes more stretch, the stretch and fluffy buds were probably phenotype dependant, not due to the spectrum of bulb

yea my plant is super duper bushy.. I am running 24/0 so im sure that helps keep it short and tight nodes.. I know its gonna stretch like crazy in flower though..

If you could at least add as many "soft white" as "daylight", you'll get better results. Still, what you have looks good.

yea I know, but i'm just gonna hold off and put the money towards an HPS instead of more CFL's/adapters/cords/strips etc etc..

Hey bro, you will do fine with those bulbs just keep them close and you'll be impressed. Happy Gardening.
Peace.

Do you guys think a space that is 24'' wide, 30'' tall and 14'' deep will be too small for a 400W HPS? I plan on using a 6 inch 435CFM inline fan for exhaust. I am using a low profile container for the soil and the scrog screen is 20'' from the top of the cab. Ambient temps will be around 60F-65F. I am going to utilize a central AC floor vent in the room and a stragically cut hole in the bottom of the cab to cool it by placing the cab directly over the AC floor vent ( in the summer ) ..Actually its a modified 3 "chamber" dresser .. the middle chamber is for the plants, left chamber will be for the cool air/floor AC Vent intake going into 2 - 4'' intake holes into the middle chamber that has the plant(s) to cool the cab and the right chamber will be for the exhaust fan/carbon filter etc..But I wont be doing this with the floor AC vent until next summer ( lol ).. But like I said I can easily keep the ambient temps down to around 60F in this room during this winter by simply closing the heat vents. So this winter I am just going to use cool ambient air intake . Do you think I can get away with a 400W HPS or will the space just be too small?
