What kind of Bulbs work best

Im starting a little indoor grow in a 4x4 tent, I have a 600W fixture with a 600W Lumatek digital ballast for HPS or MH. Im curious about what the best bulbs for this situation are. Ive heard that you can veg and flower with the Hortilux eye bulb. Ive also thought about using a Ushio opti-red bulb for flowers with a MH for veg. Just curious what some other opinions and ideas are to help me dial it in. Thanks!

For veg I would use a MH conversion bulb. For flowering I would use a normal 600w HPS bulb. Your yield is going to be around the same whether you're using a fancy $100 bulb or a normal HPS bulb, and you'll save some cash.

The Hortilux bulb will probably NOT work with your Lumatek ballast. Been there, done that, lost some money.

Ushio's have a good track record of working with the Lumatek. BTW the Ushio Opti-red has more then enough blue in it to grow veg to finish, just like a regular HPS.

Another option is a PSMH, check out SunPulse bulbs, they come in various degree Kelvin temps, like fluros; 3k, 4k, 6.4k and 10k. The big plus with these...they are designed to work with digital and electronic ballasts.

CMH won't work in a digital ballast, also doesn't come in 600W right? I think 400W is the biggest CMH.

Since you have a digital ballast I'd stick with Ushio bulbs, avoid Eye Hortilux like the plague.
