plural. gnat removers. they are called trimmers. lol. i'm not really worried about the dead gnats on the lower branches. there is always something on plants so huge. At eye level there is pretty significant thrip damamge as there was in the black box. I started controlling it with the predator nematodes a little bit too late... however, at the tops... where you have to mount a ladder to inspect (done every day in the morning caterpillar search. I am taking down the razzberry tomorrow for sure. she is as ready as she is going to be. It will be in the evening. i'll post pics.

howdy JJP: why don't you make it a reality? bout 230 shopping days till the 2010 full season ladies go into their final pots! you still have time to make it happen.

nomaad whats good bro? sounds like everything lol

no man seriously though, congratulations, no rain or humidity to deal with and to top it off the worst problems in your garden are some dead gnats in some bottom buds and a lil bit of thrip damage... oh, and some dirty hippies. but not too damn shabby for your first go around. not too damn shabby at all!

don't sweat the nanners this late in the game... when they show up this late its not that they're sterile, just that its too late to do any seeding damage. i've seen plenty of growers and plenty of strains do that, bust like one or two bananas per plant late, late in flowering (obviously its probably more than one or two on your monsters); it rarely results in even one fully formed seed. now if its a full three weeks before harvest or something, and a bunch start to show up, thats another story.... cross your fingers and go get some of that one dutch master product. but i always subscribed to the theory that if your plant is healthy and you have no light leaks or other stressors, those late stage bananas are simply a strong female plant's last ditch attempt to reproduce in the fully unnatural environment of 100% female plants. like catholic schoolgirls gone wild... lol but i'm sure others feel differently. either way, i wouldn't trip.

it'll be nice to see some new harvest pics... once again, fantastic garden and an equally impressive thread... lots of inspiration for others

big up

Great to hear from you, Oregonic. Been wondering where you've been. I am for sure less spooked by the nanners this time around. Thanks for the support. I kinda wish she would give me a seed or three.

Since that is not going to happen, I am going to try to reveg the stalk of this plant with a small supplemental light dome... probably out of a black bucket...see if i can't cut a few clones from her as I wish I had done when she was stretching.... I am so impressed with this strain and worry that i will never see it again if I let her go. Its worth a little bit of effort.

Its going to be a busy evening.... I promise there will be pics.

OK... so we decided after a deep look at trichomes, that despite the fact that the Razzberry looks SO done, we're not taking it down till the full moon. the Goo, on the other hand is so ready, its ridiculous. nearly 50% amber trichomes.

I do have some photos, though. Just not harvest photos...

the blue dream is going at least another 10 days. the bubba...maybe a day or two more. the OG and the other chems are going to be at least 2 more weeks. i have to go look back on some earlier photos. Grape Ape may have another week to go... not sure. Taking it all as they come. But the goo, for sure, will be first.

Camera battery died before I could get shots of the Berry White. Also slated for the takedown on the full moon.

I have a farm in central America where I will someday be growing a collection of pure landrace sativas. I'm hoping to become proficient in plant tissue culturing so that I can transport down there the genetics that I collect.

I've been lurking in the Sativa thread here at IC for a long time... maybe I can build up some good credibility with this grow and get some of those heads to help me collect those genetics.

Just curious, have you started working on tissue cultures yet? Any success?

have not started. never even picked up the kit from my buddy. I assume it is still there. I am hoping to mess with it in the winter along with some other experimentation.

wow. that goo in particular is gonna produce a serious amount of bubble hash! get that trim in a freezer right away if you can, buy a washing machine and put the hippies to work on a new job...

i barely even smoke herb anymore save the occasional spliff... i threw away my regular bong a long time ago and now just take lil snaps of full melt out of a lil 7" mini bong... feels cleaner, tastes better and requires far less smoke ingestion for the same effect. for someone like me that just doesn't like the high from volcanos, but doesn't wanna smoke all the plant matter, its great. i just remember you talkin one time about how you don't like to smoke your herb to ash and all that cause most THC vaporizes right away, and i remember thinking 'that guy should smoke more hash' :)

hey nomaad, just wondering when u were planning on taking down your bubba kush. i have one as well that looks identical to yours. Its the pre 98, is that the same as yours? Im at 44n and was thinking around another 10 days maybe??

tonysoprano: 10 days seems realistic. hard to say with any kind of certainly... i finished a bunch of these strains in August (Bubba Included) and they are all acting a bit differently having gone the full season. The Bubba Came down 8 days after the Goo. Makes sense- Goo comes down in two days (Friday night, I think) and then the Bubba 8 or 10 days later.

Fisher: PM me your email addy and I will see if I can send it that way. Does an iphone open attachments with email? I know that's an issue on some cellular phones.

Gotta take the kids to school and buy more cleaning products. My dog must have been sick last night cuz he shat all over the house. I don't know whether to feel bad for him or to cauterize his bunghole closed. We got woken up by our four year old standing next to our bed with his foot coated up to the ankle in liquefied labrador turd. Oh, the joys of the family life.

I guess its better than waking up to find out you've been ripped.

i have no idea. is it true that the pre98 goes purple and the Katsu does not? there was some slight purp action on the stuff that finished in August if I remember correctly.

So... we started taking things down today. First the Razz and then the biggest of the Goos.

2009_1002-Garden-010.jpg

So, its a little wonky, first time I have ever used the "panorama assist" feature on my camera. There are 5 lines, each 24 feet long, now filled from the two plants. We split up a 10lb sack of potatoes into 4 bags and hung them on a free line to try and figure out a (very) rough wet weight on each line. Its something like between 7 and 8 lbs on each line. Again, it was very rough. there are 21 more empty lines in the garage, along with a room for vegging clones and an area for 2-3 people to trim.

2009_1002-Garden-004.jpg

here is the new clone army. Blue Dream, ClueBerry, 3 kinds of vetted OG Kush for a comparison run later in the winter and my Cough and Pineapple Cough Moms. I am trying to get these well rooted in the 3 gallon pots and in about 3 weeks, I am going to put them outside in one of the hoop houses I used for the light dep and flower them... At some point I will have to put some plastic on and figure out some heating and ventilation. I'm hoping that 24 plants will give me 5 lbs by christmas. Who knows... its just a little game. I will be taking it all down on the Solstice... not going to let it interfere with my NYE travel plans.
