Compost Coffee

Since Compost Tea is all about a balance of microorganisms that can "Stock" the soil with an abundance of microorganisms and, calling a leachate or a air bubble of materials in liquid in a decompositional system like a bucket or better is not a Tea in proper terms, I introduce the Coffee moniker.

That we brew with a bucket or drip system and brew a liquid aimed at the plant nutrient aspect of material decomposition.

So lets try that out.. Compost Coffee..

My "Brew" is in constant Motion.....
its being pumped over a Mix of Compost and stuph in a strainer above the res...
ya just need to rinse the sponge filter on the pump every 2 days
It works quite well
and once a week replace the contents of the strainer
and return what is left to the Compost Pile outside

Well I keep wanting to call it Tea but that is a proper term for a balanced microorganism liquid aimed at revitalizing poor soils.

If we have a leachate where we are after nutrients rather than a balanced microbial population Call it Coffee..

Why not? They call it Tea since it isn't very dark mostly.. My leachate is like chocolate milk and darker..

Mostly it's dark like coffee..

So why not call it Coffee...

i would just call it extract.

I thought the thread was about composting coffee.

Uh yeah it is indirectly..

Brewing liquid with the "Shit Sock of Life Method." LOL I love that bit of Muddy humor..

I mean to say if we are just using a liquid composting technique we can call it Coffee rather than tea since Tea means something different.

Does that sound alright?

I dunno man, I'm still not convinced they both aren't tea

That's an easy one.. The tea is a balance of microorganisms that benefit the soil health. That method requires practice to do correctly..

Coffee is the "Shit Sack of Life method" Where we use whatever microorganism-istic method ( Anaerobic or Aerobic or combination ) we like..

Where the net result is nutrient solution.

Simply put like brewing coffee.. Or leachate of any plant/organic material.

meh. it's all tea.

coffee is just tea made from coffee beans.

I get your point, but aerated compost tea as dictated by one camp is not the only tea.

If anything, if it's brewed it is not tea, it's a brew. though you can brew tea. confusing! tea is more a facilitated infusion from a linguistic perspective. then again tea is just a word for a certain type of infusion. extra confusing.

I say we let it all be tea, but use a modifier like aerated to indicate ACT.

No.. Under Coffee you may have a monoculture and with Tea that is not good.
So no.. Not really.. It clears up confusion..

What makes you think this?

Are you sure tea isn't just coffee made with leaves instead of beans?

man, you are blowing my mind!

I figure tea came first, so it gets naming rights.

then there is teafee, coffee and tea mixed together.

here's the thing - is my activated EM tea now?

well, I think the next step would be- Would it be fair trade incorporated? Don't let Starbucks get wind of this though, they will swoop on down and take the idea big time....lol
