Mist's Ebb&Gro with ST#3XBlack Russian grow diary

Sir, that is exactly what I was looking for. I want to try to make this first grow run as smooth as possible since its my biggest and first hydro grow. Im sure once things start rolling I'll have questions that I'll throw up on the ic forum, but until that time comes, I can only hit this setup head on and not get discouraged. So once again, thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it.

As for the "burn" its not. The 400w sat about 18" and the temp sat at a constant 75. Besides, some of the brown leaves occured on the under side of buds that weren't getting hit with any light at all. I know in the pictures they look charred and brown, but it originally started with them turning banana yellow-crisping while staying yellow-finally turning brown. To be perfectly honest, you seem to have your stuff dialed in perfectly, so I wouldnt expect you to have come across these problems... Thanks though for taking the time in the first place!

Hackk,
You are welcome for the help on the system and also welcome to ask any more questions as your grow progresses. I am sorry I couldn't help you with your yellowing problem and you are right, the only problem I have had with my grows for many years has been the occasional fungus gnat infestation. I think I have lost my plant disease and nutrient deficiency edge. I am not sure if that is good or bad though, LOL! I used to be able to spot a problem by the leaf easily. Maybe I am just getting old.

Kanye WeED,
Thank you for the compliments and I too hople I have a good harvest. This will be the first all out dialed in strain and nutrient grow with this system.

Cloning sidebar day 2

Cloning sidebar day 2

Ok, we are at the end of day 2 and all still look nice and green. No sign of root bumps yet, but I know they are in there just waiting to come out.

Congrats on winning those beans. Sounds like an intersting cross. I checked out your last grow thread and really like your setup.

Ok, I FINALLY got the new light and got it installed today. It was kind of tricky since I don't think the tent I have was really made for 2 lights basically in 2/3 of the tent.
And I know that the less bends in the air cooling/ventilation system the better it flows, but this setup took a little creative engineering. So there are 2- 600 watt HPS in there now so that should really boost this grow. I really needed more light coverage and I didn't think that a 1000 alone would give me what I needed.

The new hood is a Hydrofarm Radiant 6" AC and the ballast is another quantum 600 dimable. Bulb is the same as the other light, SolarMax 600.

I am going to wait till tomorrow to put the trellis netting in. That should be interesting to get all the top limbs through it and then later when the stretch is almost over I am going to add another layer of trellis netting for final support. Looks like I am going to be doing some crawling around on the floor for all that, LOL!

Thanks Mist! I have changed the room a lot since the first grow. I opened it up from a divided room. I was having issues with heat, and the A/C cycling to much and not cooling the room enough(15KBTU). So I just open the room all up(8x12x6'8"). I added a GL150L(3'x5') tent for the veg(t-5 4' light and 2x4 tray fit perfect in that tent) in the same room. Much better....LOL!! :joint:

I have a few more weeks on my ladies that are in the oven now...vegging I have the AK47, ICE, Lemon Kush.....for the next round.

Thank you Kanye WeED. I am to please, LOL~

I got the trellis netting in this morning and it makes the garden look all neat and tidy. I think that with the next layer I will offset it from the first layer to maybe give a little better support. I can see where a PVC frame around the garden would make this netting more stable and give better support. But as it is I can see that it will be a pain in the ass when I want to use the hose to flush out the individual buckets to eliminate nutrient salt build up. I guess every method of plant support has it's down falls. I will like it a lot when the second layer is on and I am not worried about the limbs at the back of the garden falling over or trying to weasel my way back to tie something up. We will see I guess.

On another note, the light penetration has greatly increased with the addition of the new light. So this should be a really good run.

Oh yea, they are 1 week into flower now.

A couple quick update pictures. They are really taking off and you can see a big difference from the shots where I had just put the netting over them. I go in a couple times a day and make sure that all the limbs are getting through the net holes where I want them to. This trellis netting is really working well, but it has added some work, LOL!

Got one with lights off and one with them on.

Happy Growing.

You know your stupid when- You start to wonder why your clones aren't rooting as fast as they normally do and one of your small mother plants that was growing fine has slowed to a crawl even after a recent change to fresh nutrients.
HMMMMMMM?!~
Then you are sitting there looking at the clones and notice that the light doesn't seem as bright as it normally does and get down on your hands and knees and see that one of the two bulbs isn't on, DUH!!!!!!!
A quick turn and the bulb is back on and all is well again. God knows how long that bulb was off for. Probably about 10 days by my best questimate. That light is a real pain in the ass and the bulbs don't lock in like on most floro fixtures so sometimes the light goes out if the fixture gets bumped.

Oh well, those little things happen I guess, LOL!

For your cloning, what lights are you using and how close do you have them? A bulb out slows them down that much --- I'm surprised.

Well I am only using a 2 bulb floro light. So one bulb off is half the lighting, literally. LOL

I keep the light approx. 16" above the clones while rooting. That gives them enough light, if the light is on, to give them energy for rooting without inducing growth. Opinions vary from 12 to 16 inches between growers but the point is that you don't want the light right down on them while they root.
And I don't know if that was what slowed down my rooting this time. It may have been the fact that I took large cuts from near the top on a mother that is starting to get hard woody stems. I need to take some cuts from my mothers and start some new mothers that will have more tender growth. Time for these mommy's to get flowered out!

The girls are starting to poke up their heads now. I am really liking this trellis netting now too. I don't think that I am going to need a second layer either. This particular pheno was very sturdy and that was one of the reasons I picked it. So with half the plant stablized I don't forsee the need to add more support. Of course I may be wrong and end up having a nightmare of trying to put another layer of netting over the plants, LOL!

It is really thick in there too>

But there will be lots and lots of tops with fat buds in the end>

Looks like more than just 12 plants in there now. Kind of like a scrog without all the weaving and tieing of limbs. And I can't wait to see what it looks like 4 weeks from now.

Thanks GrowMEDS.

Yes it is a 4x8 tent. I am trying to figure out how to work in another 6 buckets for the n
ext grow, lol! There is never enough space for me. Always trying to expand and expand and expand..............................

Just a couple more shots because I am such a picture nut>

Bored and taking pics. The wife is out of town and there is nothing good on the tv, LOL. So what else is there to do but take some pictures.

They are getting some nice trich's on them now after 4 weeks. This is probably the thickest canopy I have ever had with a grow. Lots and lots of bud though so I am not complaining. You will notice some yellow tips on some of the leaves. I have been really pushing them this round to find the limits of this particular strain. The last grow I kind of erred on the side caution with my nutrient strength. This time I am pumping them up:laughing:

You can see the frostyness on them now and I can't wait to see what they look like in 2-3 more weeks.

Happy Growing.
