Serious Practice Growing in a Closet

Practice and testing never hurt too much. Sometimes it is not too practical but it can be fun. I am planning to throw a mishmash update of my practice grows in this thread as well as a few other things. It will also be a good place for a newbie like me to learn how to post pictures and stuff without destroying anyone else's thread.

This first post will probably be edited numerous times. I probably will not update this thread as often as an industrious member would.

I started out using the attachment feature in this post. Next I'll have to upload some pics to an album or a gallery. First I have to figure out what is the difference between them.

I guess I should show some closet pictures since closet is in the thead title. I'm putting these in a gallery. So I can see how the 'drag images into your post' feature works. I was hoping that the picture in the first post would enlarge when you ran the mouse over it. It does not seem to do that for me.
Well scratch that. The ICMag Gallery rejected all my photos. I'm not sure why. I compressed them with a Riot add-on using progressive compression so they were all at 145k or less. I just tried the Forum Albums feature and it accepted them so I will try that out.
The 'Forum Albums' option seems to work great.

The plants shown are mutts. Good for torture testing and probably not much more. haha

Before I take a nap I'll post a couple of pictures of some girls (I hope) in the shower from last week. My little darlings are about to celebrate their 1 month birthday. I wanted to post some pictures of them before I cut their heads off and strip them. The girls are sitting in the shower trying to dry off after a soaking in a neem oil mix.

These plants aren't in one of the closets. They get to play in the sun most days and sleep in the bath tub at night.

looks nice, what are you practicing anyways?
Good question. I'm not sure. I think I am practicing growing plants in small pots of soil in small rooms along with some other tests. I know it will be less embarrassing when they all die if I can walk away and say I was just practicing. Of course there will be different opinions if I manage to kill every thing.

Looks like you are practicing starting fires. that fan laying on its side like that is a serious hazard. It CANNOT blow air if there is no where to intake the air from. The fan cools its motor witht he flowing air. By laying it on its side you are running the watts for no reason, and overheating that cheap fan motor. Better rethink that.

Good eye and good point there Pure. Everyone else as well. Thanks for your concern. The way it looks it would definitely be a safety issue. Because of my failure to describe the room and the photo I posted it looks like a hazard.

Actually I cut a hole in the floor and then covered the hole with a couple of different mesh screens. Then I stapled a furnace filter over the screens. The hole accessed the crawl space under the house. This was supposed to be a passive air intake. Unfortunately my homemade exhaust fan could not pull any real air through my homemade carbon filter. So temporarily I am pushing air from underneath. The fan is well ventilated from below.

flowering anything?
Actually all the plants in the 2nd post are flowering. They are mainly for testing my new little room. When I run low on space I will probably throw some away. Most of the rest I am going to test some pollen on or some sort of torture. It depends how soon I need some room for plants I care about.

From my last post when I talk about plants I care about - here are a couple of pics of Serious stock. I pulled them out of the bath tub today so they could enjoy the sun.

Flowers showing on their last day before haircuts.

They look nice and healthy. Are you planning on topping/fim'ing/suppercropping? I think you mentioned this above. Are you going to be keeping them in those pots for the rest of the time? If so you will be needing to do some root pruning eventully.

I am also closet growing for practice. Your plants look great, but I want to add one thing: the fan lying on the floor like that seriously hinders its performance as far as the volume of air it moves. You should get a couple of square blocks of wood, or small stacks of books to elevate it. That way the fan has at least some intake area underneath it, and it will blow more, and more cooler, air upwards. Just my two cents.

you need to use positivity! your plants look good, why not grab a pack and give a go, what are you waiting for? you can grow man, I've seen alot worse..

it is fun to maximize a plant in a small container, but you can do that while growing using side light , and learning comes along the path, we are all still learning..

Thanks for the comments. I am slowly starting plants I care about. White Russian will be next after the Chronic plants grow for another couple of weeks.

At this moment I wish I could say I am waiting for my Sour Bubble to arrive.

Today's practice project;
I ended my bubble bucket test yesterday. I needed the air for the cloners. This morning I felt sorry for the poor plant so I decided to try something else rather than composting it. I left the plant in the net pot from the bubbler. Then I put landscape rock, coco, small cheap and big #4 perlite in a pot. I will put the pot in the former 5 gal bucket used for the bubbler. Maybe an inch of water in the botom of the bucket sort of like a Hempy pot. I may create a Hempy bucket if I find the right 5 gal bucket in my house

Original bucket yesterday:

I have not updated much lately. It is the busy time of the year in Nor Cal - outdoor harvest and all. My Chronic mothers are doing well. Time for a big haircut so they will throw out more bottom branches.

Remember this is my practice thread. I'm never sure how the pictures will show up. Every week I try another method.
