Its super simple, I built a diy cloner, and it works "perfect", except for the fact that the cuttings have been in there for a month now, and have been sitting in an "in between" stage since the first week. The cuts were healthy, and COVERED in calluses/bubbles on the stem since the first week. So I've been sitting here for 3 weeks waiting for ANY roots to form and they havent, while as normal, the leaves are dying along with some of the nodes... so I gotta solve this quick

So whats the deal? Water is at 6.0, with KLN solution, peroxide(a drop). spraying 24hr/day at 80* temp water, sitting under t-5's, used clonex gel. Any ideas how to get those bubbles to turn to roots?

my buddy ran his water temp at high 70's, low 80's. yes, he does add peroxide, not much at all. no nutrients .. just water. he had roots in 5 days.

My clones did the same thing until i got the water to 75* ... The water was way too cold for them.

I hope I'm not asking a dumb question but, are you using any rooting liquid, like Clonex? Worked great for me, first time cloning, all popped beautifully 100% successful.

It might help speed things up a bit, but definitely not necessary.

Yes, I used clonex gel. All the cuttings were taken by the book, same as using rockwool, but this was my first time using aero.

I would change the res to just straight tap water if the cloning mix isn't helping.

Straight tap water is all i've ever used and I have had 100% success.

48/48 so far

I dont think that would be the best idea. Since they have been sitting there for a month now, all their reserve food is probably used up, so the little solution of nutrients is probably necessary at this point for their survival.

But look at the stem, it should be exploding with roots by this point!

rather than use the gel, use a clonex liquid that you mix right in the aero cloner rez, do dipping the clones, just the spray of the mixture should do it.

looks like perhaps to much gel also? rather than "goop" it on, just dip em for couple secs?

as long as you still have green leaves you should have plenty of energy to finish rooting in straight water

the past week leaves have been browning like crazy. Their on their last leg I think.

Do you think throwing it in some rockwool might push them to "feel around"? I would do this, but I really want to solve this problem so I can use the cloner for what its for

I'm thinking if you show any stress to those little nubs like trying to poke it in rockwool, it would probably slow them down even more

I built a bubble cloner and had the exact same problem when I just used the neoprene insert to hold the cuttings above the bubbling solution or when the cuttings are allowed to dangle in the solution.

When I started using RW cubes suspended above the bubbling water, I get close to perfect success rate. Not sure why but it seems the roots like to have something to grow into. The bubbling keeps the bottom of the cube wet and the top relatively dry.

I've seen plenty of pictures online of people cloning the way you are trying but I never could do it.
