you can eliminate the walls sucking in by increasing the size of your intake, or by adding a intake fan! but negeive pressure does take the wrinkles out of the reflective poly! lol very nice for your first round, nice and clean!

Hi, Folks. Designing my Flowering Room. I am converting my Jacuzzi atrium (Presently open to the sky, which will be closed off with a false sky light with my exhaust fan installed, and using my Jacuzzi (4ft x 6ft grow area) for my plants utilizing the bed style according to Soma’s advice. I have a potential 20 inches of soil I could install taking into consideration the pebbles for aeration beneath and Jacuzzi configuration. Further, I have a potential 8ft height clearance from my not yet chosen light system down to the top of my soil. My two questions are as follows:

1. How many plants would you grow under these circumstances and how tall would you let them grow, taking into consideration I have 8 ft available, or, would you discount the height and still suggest a lower horizontal branching out crop?

2. Based on your suggestion of foliage size, how deep should my soil be?

Hey Wazoo, first off, if you need questions answered, i'd suggest starting your own thread in the indoor-soil forum. To answer your question about how many plants, it really depends on how big you want your plants to be. If you want to do SOG, then put a plant like every 1-2 square feet. Or you could have only a few plants that are lst'd and vegged for a long time. As for soil depth, probably about 1 - 2 feet.

Also, thanks for the input Lacy, I picked up a fan speed controller from a friend and it definately helped my situation.

Medichron, Sorry for the my screw up. I am new. Never started a thread before. Thanks for the input. I will start a thread.

I have the same light and when growing just a few plants I like to keep them all trained with an even canopy level because the 400 watter isn't going to pentrate much. Especially with such a long veg you are going to need to think about a screen or a lot of work tying. Doing alot of tying drives me crazy personally, twine crisscrossing all over the place. I usually just give up at some point. With some good yielding strains you can still get 12 ounces off of one, I've heard of more with SOG.

Right on, i am a newly medical marijuana patient as well... on my first legal grow. Purchased some store bought clones, ak-47, la conf. included. But they're still just rooted. 2 days old to me.

Good Luck on flowering those beauties.

Just saw the first decent size hairs when the lights came on last night! :joint:

Nice Drugstore, good choice on genetics. Just out of curiosity, which dispensary did you buy your clones from?

Hey everyone, Plants have now been in flower for 8 days, and I'm seeing some pretty fat hairs all over the TW x Herijuana and Cherry lime, but the LA is only showing some small hairs so far. My biggest problem so far has been keeping the heat down, If I have the door to the tent open and a fan blowing out the door, the temp stays around 78-83 F. If I have the tent closed, even with the squirrel cage fan on full blast, my plants are just getting roasted :wallbash:. Its kind of a pain in the ass because I have to leave the door to my tent, which is in my bedroom, open the whole time the light is on, which is Midnight to noon. Its kind of hard to sleep when your getting flooded with HPS light :wallbash:.

Anyways, i'll post up some pics of the progress later tonight. Just gave them their first dose of flowering nutrients last night, including Fox Farms Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom, Botanicare Liquid Karma and Sweet Citrus. They are definately looking healthy tho, and streching like crazy. TW x Heri is probably getting close to 3.5-4ft tall!

Peace out,
Medichron

Hey everybody, just looked in my tent and had some shockingly bad news...my LA Confidential hermied :fsu:. I really have no idea how, so its a bit disturbing to me. Out of all of the plants it was the one that took longest to show any hairs, and some how i didnt notice that it was herming until now. I dont really know what to do with it, I feel bad just chopping it down and letting it go to waste, but i cant keep it in my tent. Any suggestions :1help:?

Peace Out,

Hey thanks for all the responses everyone, just starting to smell dank in my tent in the last few days! One thing I'm wondering is if I should trim off some of the lower buds that are just tiny and probably wont amount to anything? These things are bushy as hell and I'm worried that a lot of the lower branches/small nodes just wont have enough light to produce good buds. I'm on day 20 of flower, do you think i'm better off doing some trimming, or just leaving them as is?

Also, is it normal to have any dying fan leaves on the lower portion of the plant in early flowering, or is it possible that I have some sort of deficiency? Its only really on the TW x Heri, and only a few leaves.

Peace,

I would trim the lower budsites that aren`t getting a lot of light in order to get the most out of your top colas(called pruning). Depending on what size light you have will tell you how far up the plant to trim obviously the bigger lights like 1000`s will penetrate the canopy more and allow those buds to develope more. Its not too late but i would maybe do this by about the 2 week of flower next time to avoid stressing your plants while in heavy flowering, but you should be more than fine at week 3.

Lower fan leaves can die just from not getting enough light. To determine a deficiency pictures would be more helpful

lemme know how the strains turn out,

Hey everyone, just did some trimming on the lower budsites a few nights ago. The Cherry Lime is starting to get some crystals and the TW x Heri is coming along a bit slower. Thought I'd post up some pics, i'm wondering if the size of buds on my plants looks good for 3 weeks of flower?

What up everyone, just got a major upgrade for the grow room, its an XL 24" by 24" X-tra Sun air cooled hood. I took down my carbon filter so i could use the squirrel cage that was running it. I can finally close the door to my tent and sleep at night! Temps are running around 82 with the lights on. Only problem was getting the hood/fan into my tent and hanging it up without harming the plants. They definitely got knocked around a bit, but hopefully they'll be ok. I'll take some pics when the lights come on tonight. Also, I found a little bundle of bananas on the TWxHeri, a bit of a bummer. I inspected the plants really well and couldn't find any others. Do you think if I keep pulling them off I'll be cool, i would rather not have seeds in my nug.

Peace,
