Tending the Skunkman Original Haze x Skunk1

Hey everybody, ICMag member happyhi, who tended the Original Haze in greenhouses back in the day has recently showed up and posted the amazing "Cosmic Boogie" Original Haze poster. He has grown some nice plants recently but has not found that old Orignal Haze greatness, he is looking for it.

i have embarked on a serious haze breeding program. i currently am breeding
about 8 different strains. Three provided by OJD of Connoisseur Genetics, Two different strains by bumble buddy (*OHxS1 F2 from SamS/Gypsy- BB) and a number of landrace seeds from the the far east, thai, mekong delta provided by Gypsy including a few others. Will be back breeding using a couple of different landrace thais to various
hybrid species including some progeny breeding. i profess no experience other than having grown the Original Haze from 76 to 81 and want to find it again.

I will relate my limited experience with the original haze having grown and smoked what you all are pining about. It was a remarkable plant, that produced a euphoric feeling that left you often with a sore jaw from smiling. It came in colors like those represented in the poster, from deep purple to shiny silver. It tasted like nothing i have ever tasted since. The closest thing in terms of sweetness that i have tasted in todays varietals is trainwreck, but it is a poor imitation. The colors where not a function of temperature like so much of todays purple, it produced bright green leaves with the color contained exclusively on the calayxe like someone hand painted each one. The best taste came from the light silver variety, but it all tasted like different sticks of fruit with a very deep rich aftertaste. The taste was amazing but the effect was what made every piece of it
promised for long before it was ever cut. And to cut it meant an 8 month run of paranoia.
It required lots of patience and love for the herb, when everyone else was pulling around halloween you were just hunkering down for the haul to the harvest moon in december.
The cosmic boogie/ peace/ hh

He is tending some "F2" seed from Sam Skunkman's Seedbay/Seedboutique freebie Original Haze x Skunk#1. I'm helping him out with image posting :)

Check 'em out (click image for large size version):

They look great to me, good job so far happyhi! Those plants just look so healthy, beautiful! Not sure what to make of the phenos, that one on the right is surprisingly broad-leafed, none of the parents remotely like that-- maybe it really did get pollinated by the Mexican male that I thought was sterile (if it smells like the herb rosemary then that is probably the case).

Anyone have comments?

Many Thanks to bumble buddy for posting, since i am computer retarded. Today i identified sex in most of the plants and came out with better than 50/50 females. The broad leaf plant above is likely not from the OH seeds as i had some freebies from Gypsy mixed in. All the Sativa varietals appear to be two slightly different types. One with very very long narrow large sativa
leaves and the other which are just slightly wider. Does the Holy Pastrami differ in leaf structure to the sweet spice? I have four very sturdy boys, who as of today will begin
moving towards flowering. the outdoor light is perfect timing right now.
Thanks to OJD at Connoisseur Genetics who sent me some seeds in response to the Haze posting, which i am so stoked to have just popped. They are Titanium, SSSHD+
G13 and G13+haze mango i think. OJD's stuff was the cup winner last year so i anticipate serious fireworks. They have all popped beautifully including 5 neville haze seeds from Greenhouse. So, in conclusion, my cry for the haze has resulted in much stoke on my part and thanks to, OJD and Gypsy for their generosity. I am working hard to make the most of their gift.

Holy moly! That looks awesome happyhi, nice going. :woohoo: Those look more like SS than HP due to the leafyness, but I can't tell for sure.

I've had huge problems with my garden- messed up nutes/watering? and an invasion of mealybugs which I previously had not heard of, the worst yield by far in years. :(

Chopped the meager indicas (my last indica crop ever probably ;)) and put the sad Haze x Skunks aside after 60 days of flowering, good news is that they seem to clone easily and a new crop is on the up and up, going under the big light for some more veg time starting today, I want to overgrow the room if possible...

60 day flowering,

10 weeks 008.jpg this pic is of a different variety, not sure
what as it came up almost a month after sowing, i forgot about it and low and behold there it arose. it was an anemic plant and i didn't think much of it, thankfully i took a cutting, which i always do now to insure i have it. this one doesn't have much on it, but has an extraordinary smell to it. It is so tropically scented i want to make perfume out of it. Can't wait to taste them all! yours are looking awesome. i have cuttings and made seeds.

Nice going, is it possible that last one popped up from a Haze x Skunk1 that Gypsy sent you?- it sorta looks like the Holy Pastrami... I've seen reports that some of those OHaze x Skunk1 took a long long time to pop.

What do the other ones smell like? I've been unable to resist sniffing at the Holy Pastrami flowers and its beguiling... hard to pin it down, but a slice of fresh baked rye bread with caraway seeds and slathered with mustard is about it, freaking crazy :biglaugh:

The little one that popped is definitely from the group that gypsy sent. The three that are finishing from your lot, two smell the same
which is almost slightly piss like, the other smells spicy. ( you are much better at describing than me) the two are slightly thinner flowers the one that smells spicy has slightly larger flower structure. I gave them a final dose of my finishing pixie potion.
When i see them sprout the final shot of white hair i know they are close to done. Trichs are all cloudy, no amber yet.
Can't wait to taste them! peace/hh

pretty pretty nice

pretty pretty nice

bb haze 001.jpg

final product turned out extremely nice. like most old time
smoke it does not look as pretty as many strains that i've
grown but it is the closest thing to old time that i have
come to so far. It is reminiscent of high altitude mex that i used
to get back in college in the early 70's.
Cat Piss smell, with piney backround, robust smoke, strong
flavorful, not sweet, more musky and spicy. Very uplifiting
effect with a relaxing tailwind. Prolific flowering with long spears,
reached acceptable density, but nothing like the hybrids or indicas.

It 's roots are oh/skunk from sam with some other cross in there.
12 weeks, could go longer if you like.

Happy New Year
