Ive been vegging with an HPS for a year now and I like it just fine. I prefer MH but they will do great with an HPS. If you don't already have a bulb, I might suggest you buy a CMH bulb for the HPS though.

rooted clones?? i use flouro for rooting. then straight to hps. i use 430w which has added blue. no problem stretching w hps, which is often the complaint about using hps for vegg.

I was wondering how the HPS compares head to head to a MH in VEG watt for watt. Was thinking of getting an agromax HPS bulb with the 30% more blue, to close the gap and make the HPS great for vegging.

what about temps im wanting to vegg mine with hps but temps usely 25c that would be to high for seedlings right?

My first few indoor grows were with HPS all the way. This was in the early eighties and that's all us guys could get, or all we knew about. A guy who worked with the local council nicked a couple of balasts and 400w bulbs from the street light supply and we used them to grow our Northern Lights....
