What's new

plasma television: it's revolutionary, man

H

h^2 O

i finally put everything together - it's my first digital television...a Panasonic 42" plasma. It is CRAZY dude. Like I feel like I've been cheated these past 5-10 years watching analog TV - this is just the best picture ever. I was watching Finding Nemo to get it test it out, and with the surround and speakers hooked up, it was like I was living inside an anemone. It's so cool. Now to get the cable working - won't screw in all the way and the reception is like 1/2 what it should be. Maybe some thread lube or something...

you might've bent the center wire on the cable hookup while trying to
screw it in, common problem and easy enough to straighten out.......

wtg on the new set bro

Plasmas suck.....If I were to buy a television today it would just be a 1080p HD.

I have a 2 year old LG 720p plasma , that piece of shit has been in the shop 3 times already, I have had just about every board in the television replaced.

Even the repairman said he would never buy a plasma... Good luck with yours though H^20

seriously plasma's do suck, they have better contrast ratio sometimes but I would rather have a TV I could use for more than a few years at best.

Right now I got a 42" LCD and I am going to get a 52" LED or wait a little while and get a 52" OLED. No matter what I get it is going to be 120hz so I can finally go 3D.

BTW plasma's have been out for years, far from revolutionary. Though OLED's are the future, litterally 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio compared to most plasmas and LCD's at 10,000:1. Plus they are about an inch thick and consume like a third the power. REVOLUTIONARY

Anyway when you get back online I'm interested to know how you have your set hooked up.
It sounds like you just put your coaxial cable (that cable that screws in to your tv or whatever you are putting it through). Because if it is going straight to your
tv your not getting HD in fact you are not even getting digital. The way to go is HDMI, but since you said you have surround sound you might already have it hooked up. I don't know, but I couldn't tell you how many times I have seen people getting all excited about their new sets and how good it looks when they are still using the same cables their old set did.

Too bad plasma is old

LED is the new best thing ever to happen to TV

I see now the new type of TV is a LED . LED i guess will be the way of the near future. All the big screen TV's are awsome to watch but damn if they aint disposable. They are very poorly built and the extreme heat kills the circuits. I just had to solder 2 new circuits in my 46" hitachi after 4 years of use. The old tv's i have are still going strong after 15-25 years. Shit just aint built to well. Enjoy that TV while she lasts because lifespan of it aint like it should be.

I enjoy playing Prototype on my xbox360 in 1080I plasma 50" w/ surround sound. I know plasma isn't better than LED but I don't care. That game was worth it all.

Actually LED's are not the future OLED's are, there is a difference. LED TV's are essentially LCD's but with LED back lighting, which improves contrast, energy saving, heat, size, and brightness. OLEDs on the other hand do not require a back light, they provide their own light on the actually panel, each pixel lights its self. That is the future

I didnt know the diferance between LED and OLED. I planed on a new TV in the future but i need to wait till these TV manufacters get there shit together. Glad you filled me in on OLED because i won't buy an LED now. I like the fact that each pixel is itself , i was mistaken buy thinking LED was indeed that. I think the LED folks are misleading people into buying.
