Not a carpenter but depends on the type of wood, you can have a wood place rip a piece of pine to size. Probably drill pilot holes and then use wood screws (about 1 1/2" long) and wood glue. Better would be dadoes/glue but you need a specialized tool.

I might have access to one. Never heard of those. This video helped explain a lot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t07b7kxz3GQ.

I take it I can build this box using biscuit joints then when im ready to attach it to the top I just cut biscuit slots in the top part of my sides and bottom of the box sides. It can then be attached using those slots in conjunction with biscuit joints.

Yes,,,,But don't buy one unless you have more uses for one.$$$$

You can build the box using it(biscuit/glue) or screws/glue then joint it on top of the cab.

p.s. Asil's ideal works great too, You have a few options as you can see, Just keep it tight and square!!!!

The Kreg tool is awesome. That is how a majority of furiture is made. Take alook at some of it around your house. I bet you find a piece made with it. i used to mortise and tenon, biscut join and dove tail, now I all I use is this. Hope this helps.
