Karma, mind if I stop by for a quick smoke, lol. Awesome as usual bro. How long do you run that ape for? It looks like it has a structure similar to bubba. How does it compare as far as bud density, yield, ease of cloning and anything else you can think of. One more question. Do you have your setup as far as soil and nutes on any threads that I could check out. I'm back to soil from ebb and flow and have been experimenting with lc's mix. I just finally overcame a mite infestation...I hope. I'm not sure if my last two crops looked so bad due to just the mites or my soil/nutes or what. I've got the hydro thing dialed, but never spent much time with soil. I love ebb and flow, but don't have the money to spend on a water chiller and can't keep res temps down over the summer. You do such a great job, just curious.

Sorry it took my so long to reply RedNine, but you know I can get long winded and I wanted to make sure I had enough time to give a correct answer.

the Grape Ape has to be my favorite strain but I am partial, being an Urkle-GDP-Grape Ape fiend and had been chasing this strain for years before finally obtaining it. Actually it is better than I could have expected I run the Grape Ape anywhere from 50-55 days and it is truly finished, and you know I like to run strains for ever but this is truly a short flower strain.

Funny you said it has a similar structure to the Pre 98 Bubba Kush we were just talking about that on the Grape Ape thread in the strains section. This run was decent but not %100 dialed in thus it tends to look like the Bubba with a popcorn nug look nice size nugs but not Huge colas but they are very dense and solid. The Grape Ape will yield decently regardless but she can yield very good if everything is dialed in perfectly but you know how this elites are they are usually very finicky but hey the Grape Ape yields much much better than the Bubba Kush but the Bubba Kush is better smoke so I guess their is always a trade off somewhere. But yes the structure of Grape Ape at %80 efficiency looks alot like Bubba nugs but the Grape Ape at %95-%100 efficiency looks completely different big fat swollen nugs and huge harvest. Summer is always a battle for me no matter what precautions are taken and when I spoke of the Grape Ape being finicky I mean it terms of Temps and Humidity now the Grape Ape will grow in any Temp 65-90 or humidity %30-%100 but she really yields best and prefers temps no higher than 72-73 degrees even with heavy C02. Humidity around %40 preferred.

Not an easy cloner at all now they will get roots it just takes forever and to me that means around 21 days for me when some strains I get to root in 5-10 days.

Grape Ape is a Spider Mite (Borg) magnet only strain I have seen attract mites like this is DJ Shorts Original Blueberry circa 2000 nothing else brings them out like this but mites are not a problem when they are dosed heavily with neem oil ( I use Einstein's) with a wetting agent heavy in Veg but only after they are big enough to handle it, some strains cant take neem oil too early in veg it can stunt growth especially being so thick, but it is essential.

I think others who may have smoked her can comment also but she is a top notch smoke with a flavor to kill for (Seriously) lol serious Grape Bubblegum flavor like you just put a big handful of of Grape Big League Chew Bubblegum and threw it in your mouth ( Go to CVS or Rite Aid) shit is serious the high isnt anywhere as strong as alot of elite strains ie Bubba Kush, SSH, Jack Herer, Kali Mist. But it does get the job done and it isnt any daytime weak herb it packs a punch a nice sedative indica high the stupor high I enjoy.

Now this is my formula Red hope it helps

I dont run with the same nutes I used to, dumped alot of the Bullshit I used to grow with even though I got good results and tried to streamline things and I believe I get even better results now

Pro Mix BX Soil 6 gallon pots
%30 chunky perlite
Cup per gallon of Earth Worm Castings
R/O water
Early Veg
House of Garden Roots Stimulator shit is expensive but worth it truly amazing in terms of root explosion
Superthrive
Hygrozyme

Veg
Pure Blend Pro
Blackstrap Mollasses
Hygrozyme
Cal Mag Plus
Liquid Karma
Super thrive during transplants
and I think transplanting alot is the key to explosive vegetative growth

Flower
Blackstrap Mollasses
Hygrozyme
Cal Mag Plus
Liquid Karma
Pure Blend Pro Flower
Monster Bloom 2 times during middle flowering
Budswel 0-7-0 Guano tea

I think aerating water is important I use a micropore air diffuser stone really works wonders as far as aerating water and mixing nutes easily and properly.

You will find soil/soiless mix very forgiving and I mean no disrespect to pure hydro but soil I believe taste sooo much better usually really in tune connoisseurs can tell by both appearance and smell if it hydro or Soil/Soiless mix without even smoking it and after smoking most can tell the differences now I will give you Hydro out yielding soil by small % but with all of the evolution with the marijuana community most of us are growing some combination of the 2 honestly

But hey just my two cents
be well my friend

Karma, somehow I missed your response. Thanks for taking the time, it's a great write up. Exactly what I was looking for and I'm sure it will benefit others as well. Glad to have you back, you always did write the best smoke reports.

Vin, looking awesome bro. So glad you're able to get back up and running. Is that from seed or cut?

Hey all!!!! Well winter is on it's way....let the fun and indoor begin!!!! I love the Tri state thread ( minus LEO ).... The Northeast is a specia breed...most of us live in Federal States of America where our voted state government dolesn't represent us!!!! Not only but we are some of those who risk persecution in the form of felonies and years in prison to do what we do!!! Whatever you do in your real world job...do your part and endorse, teach or advocate MMJ whenver possible.....Be safe out there it's getting cold and rainy!!

Hoping to get me some o dat Bubba back very soon too. I don't think what I had was the "pre 98 Bubba" though, but it was good, and those I passed it round to really liked it. Is that the same bubba you're refering to Red?

W

WeldFlash420

Vinny the Bubba you had was the Pre 98, very coffee like in aroma and flavor. Had the dark green waxy leaves with the bluish purple hues to the nugs. That matched every other Pre 98 grow I've seen to date yet, so I'm sure that our fellow Z had the right cut. Speaking of "Z" anyone heard from him at all? Was wondering about him the other day... PIcture day is tomorrow so I'll have an update on what I've got going here right shortly. Peace and keep it green Tristaters.

Hey Vin, yeah I'm not sure which Bubba you had, although I'm pretty sure every bubba cut out there is the pre 98 cut. I had the same one as Bake McBride. Description is exactly as Weld described. Especially the coffee aroma. Most of the pheno's I've seen of CF's PA Bubba Haze look very similar in structure, but I've not grown or smoked it myself. At least until now. I have 2 or 3 that are about 2 weeks old, but they're not sexed yet. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna save a male and use it to make some crosses in the future.
