I wanted to try a new grow method out and I decided to go with a SOG, and I wanted to do it to the max, so I ordered just under 300 feminized big bangs(planned on growing them all at once), and this cost me quite a bit of coin, and having said that I realized, why didnt I buy 20 feminized seeds of a higher quality strain and just scrog and save my self about 1000 dollars and yield about the same,.........god damnit

Yup. There are clone vendors out here in cali that bascially make money by doing nothing.

The plant does all the work. All they do is cut and root and that multiplys fast.

The only reason to ever buy a lot of seed is to find that one special mother amongst them.

Here in cali it's all about clones. Why buy millions of seed when you can just get the one clone you want and clone the shit out of that?

why not make your own seeds and have some variety, not sure if i could ever grow just 1 strain, i dont just eat bran flakes 4 times a day everyday, i mix it up a bit

Well even with quality seeds there are no guarantees when dealing with feminized seeds so maybe you just saved yourself one big nightmare who knows?...whats done is done so look on the bright side, soon enough you will have lots of tasty weed and sure you can sell a bit to recoup the loss.

I once wondered why cannabis seeds were so pricey.

Then I realized: You're not buying the seeds, you're buying the genetics.

So yeah, cloning is pretty useful...

look at it from the bright side i guess...youve just bought just under 300 chances to find a "fantastic" mother or 2 (if you have luck reveging...stuff saving clones of 300 plants to keep only a few keepers in the end)..rather than 20 chances to find a "good" mum???

but yea would have gone with a reliable clone if possible or grow out a couple packs and be happy enough with a "good" mum in the end.HH. =]-~

Set up the SCRoG, save ~20 of the beans for posterity, and auction the rest. Also remember that for 300 plants, "THEY" will come after you in a FEDERAL way. Why take such a disproportionate risk when you can achieve similar yield with far safer numbers.

Count your blessings; could have been much worse.

Grow them out, 10-20-30 at a time, whatever you can comfortably handle and keep clones of. Flower out each set and keep the 1 or 2 as mums that you figure are keepers. Move on to the next 10-20-30 seeds.

It may take some time but you'll end up with a great selection to choose from for the final flower.

This isn't a quick project. :D

This is exactly what I plan to do. Lol. When I read this I was like hey did I post in this thread? I don't remember posting in this thread... Lol. Select what you are looking for, build up a room of mums, self them, cross them, on and on continuing your gene selection. A couple years of work and hopefully you will have beans that breed true for whatever it is you are looking for.

I personally like growing from seed to witness the entire growth process. I'm in no particular hurry...I planted just two seeds in my back yard this season, CMxRecon, both came up. I was actually hoping for one male so I could make some beans but unfortunately both came up female...what'ya gonna do, right....

Indeed, its going to be a commercial SOG, and Big Bang looked appealing because it is one of the cheapest feminized seeds, and according to their description one of the better yielders.
Hopefully with 300 Big Bangs ill yield around 4 pounds, one things for sure they will be pretty close together, and I will definately be trimming fan Leaves!

i think while you dumped alot of coin, that its a real luxury to be able to drop 300 beans and search for the perfect pheno

If you can't find the best of what the strain has to offer from that you have problems. I hope your not hand watering.

Good ol reaper, I believe he was located in western russia some where, I maybe russian, but I live in california, and im not even coming close to 40K, and as far as my grow, im doing something a little different, than I have ever heard of or seen before, I do not want to give away any details....But, I will have hopefully found my camera by the time I get the seeds, so I can completely document the grow
