Au Natural: 1 female NL, 1 Bucket, NO HELP!

So I'm a microgrower, but I have this extra Northern Lights seedling (female seeds) that I don't know what to do with, and several 5-gal. buckets from outdoor-grows-past: I figured - "Hey - Why not?"

So, Filled the bucket with a nice soil/fert mix (all longer-release organics - blood/bone/cow...etc.), and ran it out to the spot that I used 2 years ago for an outdoor grow.

Here's the hitch: I'm not going to do anything else to help this girl out - kind-of like a canna-survivor show, with 1 exception: I may run a ring of slug-bait around the bucket... haven't decided on that one yet.

I live quite north - in theory, the NL should be able to handle the colder climate. I'm not sure what I'll do if we get snow or "a killing frost" before my experiment ends, any thoughts out there?

I really hope to be able to leave this one alone - just forget about it till around the 1st or 2nd. week in November - that'd giver her 7 weeks of 12/12, if she survives.

Time will tell.

This girl was a leftover, she's grown about as much a 2 20W CFLs will allow, as you can see by the stretching & yellow lower fanleaves.

I have two 30cm bagseeds "out there" for the same reason or "to boldy grow where no man has grown before" ;-)

I did cheat and check on them about 2w ago and they where a bit stunted from low light due to surrounding overgrowth. I slightly cheated, and cut back the overgrowth a bit, but they are doing alright but with no where near the growth of my more pampered ladies.

Well, I had some time today, so I decided to check-in on my survivor-styled girl, here's what I found:

Remember, I haven't looked at her in 6 weeks - the 1st. set of pictures was the last time I laid-eyes on her also.

As you can see, she's standing about 4' tall, is a tad spindly, and just starting to show buds. There's no doubt in my mind, if you want to have big plants with jucey buddage, ya really want to baby them.

Still, I'm quite surprised at how good she looks considering, there doesn't seem to be any pests attacking her - she may even give me a little harvest - you never know - till later, that is!

Thanks for dropping-by mountainNick - nope, the only water she gets is water from the sky & ground.

She's certainly not going to be an award-winner size-wise, but that's OK!

If you don't plan on going back to her for a while you might have wanted to stake her up just because she's a little spindly. Hate to see you go back to find big ole buds molding on the ground.

I know this is going to sound really stupid, but I just want to see what happens when you just let them do what they want. Compared to my well-tended outdoor grow a few years back, this girl is small. I suspect that the colas won't have much bulk to them - we'll see! Remember, the point of this experiment is to see how she fairs all alone.

if you get a windy day halfway through flower that top is gonna fall over. its final yeild may surprise you

also just because your not feeding or watering it, doesnt mean you cant keep updating with pics every now and then. *waits for pic of broken stem and cola dangling down*

Well, I broke my leg - can you imagine that? A really nice fracture of the tibia. At least I'm not in traction, but there's this really big cast in my future for the next few weeks.

This girl is located in an area that I'm quite sure I'm not going to ge able to get to for AT LEAST 12 weeks now.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to it by then, because we usually have snow by then, and I've never broken a leg before, and don't know how long it'll take to walk over rough (and by then slippery) terrain.

So, does anyone know if it's possible to have a sucessful, natural, all winter on the plant cure, right on the plant - or am I gonna have mush by the spring?

Guess I'll be laying-low for a while!

I doubt it if you have a real winter with rain, snow, etc.
