.... Lets be nice.

Microbeman, with respect for the great input you give on this forum (and by no means is this only directed at you )-

but it works both ways.

often i see a noob come to the organic forum and ask a simple question only to be ridiculed by an outspoken minority for having visited a hydro store and bought bottled nutes, or for using ready mixed soil, or for mentioning NPK etc etc.

its not that i usually disagree with what is being said, but i think that people should be welcomed by everybody and encouraged with suggestions rather than being sneered at and called a mug.

not everybody has access to farm stores, or alluvially enriched topsoil - and not everybody wants to buy their products in bulk or mix their own soil.

what is important is that those who have decided to grow organically are initially given the advice that they ask for.

the initiation into organic fundamentalism can come somewhere down the line once posters feel a bit more at home and relaxed - otherwise i think people just dont bother coming back and this is hardly likely to encourage them to continue with organics - and after all the more people growing pot organically the more sustainable the marijuana cultivation movement will be.

the organic forum should ne the busiest part of this board

sincerely,

V.

Yeah verdant, right on, but the corrolary is that some people are personally offended by anything but total agreement with their methods, and quickly frame a valid disagreement as an attack on the little guy and some kind of elitism.

The status quo of organic growing in MJ needs to change. And no, experience does not matter because almost none of us know each other or ever will. Talking to the best plumber in the world won't give you any better knowledge of fixing pipes than reading a good manual. Knowledge can be transmitted. Experience cannot. Insofar as one's experience results in knowledge, it is very important, but on here the point the knowledge, which we should accept from babes and dinosaurs.

I am not going to allude to or describe anything that I deem would be of interest to anyone in law enforcement. I'm someone who knows some stuff and that is it. If I had any actual data from any kind of large or long projects, I might refer to it, but just saying I've grown lots of this or that in no way backs up any of my assertions.

Experience should be respected for what it is, but ideas should be evaluated on their own merits. Edit: microbe, I have no sig. Can I also use yours? Anyone can be wrong about anything.

It's a big important topic and it's being discussed openly without flames and personal attacks. Why put it to bed? Sure it's off topic but who in their right mind would start this as a topic? This is a rare event, we should savor it.

Edit: it was a mistake to point this out. Someone figured out how easy it is to break up civil discourse. See below.

Hey CC...oh these guys don't post pics of their grows due to security risks ;)...this might explain a few things...

Man that's beyond disrepectful...i don't know about anyone else but i am so tired of reading this kids drivel that pervades in the Organic Soil forum...bottom line you just started growing a few months back and are questioning respected members who have been growing cannabis for decades...anyway from what i read you have a bi-polar condition so that might be the problem

You posted this in April

This is your grow room you posted in August

Never mind, the flames begin. What's wrong, you found it too mentally taxing to rebut an argument or bring some overlooked facts to light? Easier to do a search and read all my posts? I'm flattered by the attention but it's not necessary.

So, what about that picture contradicts anything I said? If I had a different picture with something big in it would you suddenly start mouth breathing and treating me like a saint? Dear lord let me never be seen in that frock.

Oh, and I do not nor will not ever have a grow room. Maybe a greenhouse, definitely an outdoor grow, never a grow room. The micro cab is fun but I'd rather be back outside.

my 2 cents...

i have grown both ways over the years, with guano's and other organic fertilizers you buy at the store, and then the natural approach( trying to replicate natures systems). they both produce quality results given they are both dialed in to the specific environment. and dialed in is the key word.... the only difference i can tell is one gives you quick results and takes the constant attention the whole way through( though eventually it does become second nature after doing it enough times), oh and it costs more. When the other is a bit slower to start but once going it just keeps going and going and going and getting better and better.....so it ends up less work in the long run. and that's what i prefer now. they both work its just a matter of experience and time.

isn't that true, lots of grays in the world. Which is why it is pretty fucking stupid to try to discredit a person for having different ideas. I'm really disappointed. We had such a nice conversation going.

Although you all can keep calling me a kid. That part I like.

No, no... let's put to bed the part where we are taking anything personal. The rest of this thread is useful.

LoL, this thread is full of emotions...

If this helps at all, for 1 year (3 harvests) now i have been using a very similar method to CC and MM.

I use 1/3 worm castings 1/3 perlite 1/3 coco coir. i add 2 tablespoons per square foot of both lime and bone meal.

I grow in the same containers from seed or clone to harvest.

I grow straight into 12/12 lighting regimen to get my plants to stay short because i have about 25 inches of actual growing height in my area.

I drop a couple grains of superphosphate on the surface of the containers once i see the first round shaped heads forming just to kick start flowering.

I never add liquid nutes ever unless i see a REAL nutrient deficiency. and when i do its usually a fish emulsion mix at about 1/3 to 1/2 strength which takes care of leaves that are yellowing too early on in the flowering period. sometimes i can get a slight mag/cal deficiency from the coco but the amount of lime used normally coveres these bases, otherwise i feed plain tap water thats had about 48 hours to sit and let chlorine evaporate. every now and then i add molasses to the water feeding.

So the plants are fed strictly water throughout their lives with the occasional fish emulsion added (usually about 2-3 times in a plants life) and molasses added every week or so. The plants are fed strictly water only for the last 3-4 weeks of flowering and this promotes leaves to yellow and fall off the plant when gently touched. Though i grow from clone / seed to 12/12 lighting i let the plants flower for about 2 weeks longer than usual from the first sign of white hairs, eg. if the plant is an 8 week flowerer i cut it at 10 weeks. but i do like a stoney high. remember my flowering timing starts from the first sight of white hairs. so the actual lifespan of my plants is usually about 13 weeks from seed and about 11 weeks from clone.

obviously the timings for the particular actions will change when dealing with some seriously stretchy and long flowering land race sativa's but i think i'll keep my description short and uncomplicated.

Things that i know i can do to make my grow better:
1. change the bone meal and superphosphate to bat guana and guano teas
2. use a rooting booster on clones and seedlings
3. innoculate growing medium with beneficial bacteria and fungi a few weeks prior to planting.

The smoke that i get from plants treated this way is the tastiest cleanest weed that i have the opportunity to obtain in my area. I have been smoking for 10 years now and growing for 2. It has taken me 10 years of smoking to realise what a true clean smoke can taste like. I seriously doubt that many people understand the degree to how clean a smoke can really be. The most expensive nugs i buy just dont cut it anymore for me in terms of smoking taste, but the high is pretty similar.

Great thread guys! Shit I have missed this one. Don´t mind if I drop in do you.

Since my last stop here (work load is killing my old ass).....anyway.

MM and JTG I now grow in closed containers. Jack thanks for the example and MM Thanks for the push. And like most of you I build my soil and just water during flower. But there is one catch.......no run off.

So far no problems. Here is a shot at week 2 in flower. I have only given them Fulvic and a touch of Humic acid with water in 4 weeks. My soil mix is standard peat, coco (in equal amounts) compost, EWC and the standard amounts of guanos for the Blütephase, Glacial rock dust, Rock powders and Algen Kalk (calcium made from Seaweed. The mix will last the entire time they are in there.......I hope. But as I say and Crazy said less is better.

That link to Tiwanaku is great. Along with all the other links you guys posted up. I have some reading to catch up on.

Sorry for the absence everyone.

And the containers are 100 to 120 liters. And have been standing for months.

And I should add that my N guano is not the full amount. The guanos I use are 70 % or there about. They are all mixed with the Algen Kalk and Glacial Rock dust etc.

Beautiful plants! I like the 'community bed' process that you're using. Kinda like the so-called 'Soma's Table' deal.

Best wishes!

Thanks man, I find it makes life much easier for my and the plants. They seem to love it I am just wondering if the no run off will cause me problems late in flower.

What do you think?

hey Von do you mean there are no holes in the bottom? cant you drill some?

you should be able to get trays big enough to go under - you can get them in the uk.

I renovate houses......of course I can drill holes I just didn´t yet to see how the plants did in a closed system. I do not use any type of bttled ferts so I am not worried about build ups just wondering if it will retain nutrients that would not be used up but otherwise leached out during the watering process.
