Can anyone recommend a strain for rheumatory arthritis, prefrebly an auto flower?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone could recommend a strain that is good for dealing with rheumatory arthritis? I only have a small grow space lighted with cfl's and only have experience with growing auto flowers. So if anyone knows of a strain thats an auto flower or very small and low odor or any of the above that would be really really helpfull! Thanks All

Hi. I cannot point to any specific strain but I can help with some general guidelines.

I would say that you have a few options here.

One would be to grow lowryders as they are cannabis dwarfs that are small in size and stay low. They are also autoflowering but not the most potent plants you can find, so you might want somethig a bit stronger.

The cannabinoid CBD is an anti-inflammatory agent which would be good for the arthritis but a high THC content would also help to alleviate pain.

Most commercial strains today have a high THC content and a very low CBD content, so I think your best shot would be some pure afghani indica landraces as these probably have a higher CBD content that most of the older and refined commercial strains. Try searching for Afghani or Maroccan landraces.

Mandala Seeds also offer a variety of medicinal strains, might be worth a look. You can probably drop them an email and ask which strain would be good for you.

You could also grow something really strong like Ingemar's Punch, AK-47 or Black Widow for example by training the plant, encouraing it to stay low. It is possible to grow any plant in any manner.

If you take a look at the training and pruning section of my growing guide, you will know what I mean. If you get one of the landrace indicas you will definitely have to train it as they are wild outdoor plants that can grow very large.

You could also possibly look into strains like Blueberry from Dj Short and Strawberry Cough from Dutch passion, as they both seemingly have some medicinal value. I can vouch for the cough.

Another option are the G-13 hybrids as this strain was originally intended for medicinal use.

Mr.Nice offers a G-13 x Widow and a G-13 x Skunk. Medicine Man would also be a good choice.

Chemo is the canadian equivalent to the U.S G-13. If you do a search on chemo you will probably be directed to a place where the strain is in stock.

Finally, here is a list of medicinal strains.

You might have to grow two strains, one with a high CBD content and another with a high THC content. Smoking them together would make the medicine complete.

I hope that you will find what you need.

WOW Kodiak! That was a big help. It's my better half that has RA, she tends to like to stay away from anything with a couchlock quality. Her pain is pretty intense sometimes, concentrating in her fingers and hands for some reason. I guess it's a tough choice between couchlock/high thc/pain relief or low thc/less couch lock/less pain relief? But I need to stay (I guess most importantly because RA is mostly an inflamation problem) with a higher CBD strain. The hard part is she needs to still be functional. Through lots of reading here I was thinking a sativa would be more suited to her needs because she hates couchlock/anti-productivity types? I am about three weeks into a micro AF grow that includes Big buddah white dwarf, Lowlife Hindu Kush and Lowlife AK47. Just wanted to see if I could grow with these at all first and they are easily concealed. Are there any lowryder hybrids that have mainly sativa in them? Thanks for all the help!

AK 47 from Serious did well for my wifes RA ... the Lowlife cross might be the ticket ...

I have RA and I use the pure Indicas for pain. Right now I have Nirvana Papaya and it works really well for pain and helps me sleep, so I use it mainly at night.

I also try to keep a good, trippy, sativa hybrid around for the daytime, right now it's Wallyduck's c99xGF. One of the best strains I've ever grown because it's fast, easy, and sweet tasting. It's also good for pain and very good for depression.

I would stay away from pure sativas and hazes unless you like racing heart rates and the amped up feeling. Doesn't work for me. But any good hybrid will help a lot... Sour Diesel, the Chemdog family, most of the fruity strains work great for me, blueberry, juicy fruit, strawberry, c99 pineapple pheno, etc.

I'm glad I could help. I agree, the C99xGF does sound sweet. I'll have to put that one on the list.

If you are concerned about coughlock there is always the option to make some space cakes or cookies instead. Cannabis in food will have a long lasting and gradually rising effect instead of the immediate hit from the smoke. Cookies can also be eaten anywhere without causing suspicion. I made some with with vanilla sticks and saffron, which turned out great. I can eat these at the movies or anywhere.

You can make chocolate, butter, yogurt, icecream or even sallad dressing with THC in it. THC can be added to any type of food that has some fat in it. The easiest way is to heat a whole lot of bud in water on low heat together with some real butter. After some time sieve the liquid into another container in order to remove all the green parts from the plant and then put the container in the fridge or freezer. The "cannabutter" will solidify on top into a cake which you can then use to make bread or anything else. Look it up here on the forum, there are a lot of good posts on the subject.

It's good to keep in mind that CBD evoparetes at 66°C (150°F) and THC at around 200°C (392°F), so everything must be cooked on low heat, even in the oven.

Eating cannabis is easier on the lungs, especially for non-smokers and the effect is in a way more pleasant as it hits you gradually.

It's like taking the elevator into the clouds instead of being zapped there instantly.

It's all a matter of preference but stashing away a few cookies is not a bad idea. The ones that I made a year ago still work as well as the day that I made them.

You might want to try haahberry from mandala for your day time ventures. It has relaxing properties but leaves you n a functioning state. Plus the come down is very gentle! It is in the category of bein a mild to strong indica but mostly milder than most but high in quality! A unique high.

If you have rheumatory arthritis, smoking or evaporating is not the best way to relieve pain. What you need is a strain with a higher CBD-content (>2%) than what is normal found in a high THC strain. If you have found such a strain than you can use it in 2 different forms; tincture or tea.

The cannabinoids acids is what you need. These cannabinoids acids have inflammatory & pain relieving properties.Heating by baking or evaporating decarboxylate the cannabinoids acids into cannabinoids, so THC acid or CBD acid will change into THC or CBD.

Thank you so so so much for all the info everybody! It's really nice to think that we can treat ourselves for our ailments rather then have to rely on purely synthetic chemicals. Thanks again!

Ultra.. the c99 will couch lock you if you smoke enough but it's more a trippy daytime strain. I just got my Mandala Hashberry seeds from seedbay so I will let you know how they turn out, it should be great for pain.

I just started going to the dispensary since one opened a few blocks from my house. Edibles really help the pain since it affects more of the body. I got a few pieces of blueberry bread that are just killer tasting and I feel no pain. They had fudge, candy, cake, and more serious stuff like tinctures. Only way to go.

Thanks for stopping by Kola, unfortunatley we don't live in an mj friendly state. The baked goods do sound delicious as hell though! I'll take a look at the c99 asap, seems to come highly recommended. Thanks again

Bump for those of us dealing with arthritis and joint pain. I'm right there with ya. Eating cannabis helps much more for my pain and discomfort than smoking does. I love to smoke, but I need to eat it to get the best narcotic effect and joint relief.

These strains are all great suggestions, and I'm bookmarking this thread.

Thanks,

- Hella

Forget autos they just do not carry the bang you need. Just flower early and lst. To use the herb I get way, way, waaay more help eating and applying oil with alcohol or dmso.Dmso is dangerous as it allows everything thru your skin. But is you are cautious and grow your own with no chems it works quick. Suerte JK
