Nice, I love growing in the high desert. If they get plenty of water you will have a great grow.

Well the monsoons are here so thats helping a ton, however fucking grasshoppas are devouring the leafs. Theres not much i can do tho cause the rain will just wash it off the plants, im not really worried tho they'll go away here as soon as everything starts to green up.

They should start flowering here sooon too so Im gonna have to get some more nutes for that

And I have one bubba kush out too but its lookin like ass cause it was planted straight in the ground, i might be able to get some minis out tho of that if i can get clones going here soon.

I fear cut worms and other pests of such nature. I don't have enough balls to plant in ground, haha.

If you do by chance get fairly paranoid, you can always go out and buy some mosquito netting that's camo'd to the desert to help hide your pretty gals.

Well containers dry out too quickly so in ground is a must cause i need them to grab and its what keeps them alive in 100 degree heat without rain. I always dig my holes 3ft deep where the soils nice and cool sometimes even moist.

And I dont really have to worry about eradication efforts or rippers cause I live in such a remote place but all my ladys are seperate so even if a few get found, then i just fall back on my other plots. You have to prepare for losses anyways, normally curious animals early season or if no crystals mixed in which i didnt this season...really regret that, the biggest concern is water which i manually haul out....probably the biggest pain but you gotta do what you gotta do

Yea, I used to grow in south riverside county in ca. and it was 5 miles to any paved roads and 30 miles to any type of civilization. Nobody to come and rip anything off because it was 120 in the shade during the day and also it went from 900 feet above sea level at the paved road to 4800 at our house in 5 miles. And nobody wanted to walk thet looking for a grow, LOL!
The plants did great though and my father and I had some great harvests with plants bringing 2+ LB's each. Lots and lots of water though.

The plants are starting to get hungry and I didnt have any more nutes on hand, so i ordered some hopefully they come quick. Heres some more recent pics

The second pic is a bubba kush, and I also found a preying mantis on one of them =), if you notice I put pineneedles around some of the plants cause they kept getting sprayed with mud when it rained so Im guessing this should stop the mud splattering, and the last pic was of a squirell? I believe at the tip top of a tree I couldnt really make out what it was lol i need my glasses..

They look great. I am confused though. What do they need to finish in time for?

Before it gets too cold and the plants dieee, the temps have been upper 40s to 50f at night, normally the first frost is anywhere from sep 10th to oct 1st so as long as they make it to mid september Im thinking they should be alright, but the trichromes are already cloudy and some amber so maybe sooner?

Thanks for the comments guys!

I was wondering how those girls were doing, LOL!
They look good and plump now. I would aim for Halloween as a harvest time. They have several more weeks left by the look of them. As long as you don't get a freeze you should be fine. If you do get some weather close to freezing you can always cover them with clear plastic sheets (the light weight stuff) for overnight if you are located close to them.
Cold weather in the mid 40's at night is good for them and will make the buds swell with resin and bring out all the good color.

Thanks for the help Mist

Yah actually the weathers been in the upper 50s at night so it actually warmed up, must of been going through a cold spell, but what kind of clear sheets do you mean? like plexiglass? I have another small gargen by my house too that is no way near finishing so Id really like to figure out something to do to prolong their life.

Its possible the frost could be in NOV, but Im thinking sometime in OCT, so lets hope that its later!

The plastic that I am talking about is the really thin, .31 mil, painters drop cloths. It is clear and you can usually get it in small 12X20 packs or you can buy a roll of it if you have a lot of area to cover>

Just drape it over them in the evening if it is going to get close to or at freezing temps. Use enough that you have plenty of extra about the side to weight it down a bit with some rocks. I know that area of the country and there are plenty of rocks laying around, LOL!
Then take it off in the morning soon after the sun rises or if it is still at freezing you can leave it over them till later in the morning and they will get warm with the greenhouse effect. Don't leave it over them all day though or the condensation that will form inside the plastic will make the plants too wet.

Happy growing

Oh ok! lol i dont know what i was thinking...

How long do you think this would work for? A week? less?

I actually got some of that layin around so sweet and lol ya your right def lots of rock layin around too. Thanks man

AND PS
Maybe someone can help me identify what strain it is that im growin here lol? I've only had one indoor harvest with her and my friend didnt know the name of the cut when he gave it to me. The nugs smell fruity almost kinda like rotten fruit and bubblegum I would say...

Used to live in the low desert. Up in the high desert now in S.B. county at around 3.500'. Seems 5.000' is the magic number. Below that and the bud starts getting airy.
I can kind of guess where you guys are at.
Plastics the best answer but not without problems. First the wind will rip it up. I have shade cloth and then plastic.Laying it over the plants is fine if you can remove it early in the morning, otherwise do a simple frame to give them air. Now you have a kite so you need to stake it down.
With the heat I like using a pit about 18" down. It breaks the wing, it's cooler as well as making it easier to keep the water table up. When it's cold I use a metal container to keep coals smoldering all night. The environment is easier to control. Reminds me of the forts we used to build in the desert west of Blythe. It keeps everything lower and stealthier. You do have problems with sterile soil and caliche. They can be overcome. Every solution has a problem. These are minor. The pit has to be big enough with sloped sides on all sides except north to let the sun in. It helps, but I still can't match mountain bud for density.
Sorry if I'm hijacking here but what do you guys do for the heat besides sweat?
