At what stage do you start to use a sweetener and how often do you use it?

I grow in soil and use the FEED WATER WATER FEED schedule.

Yes it pretty much dissolves faster. I use carboload by AN, and you dont need to use warm water, AN products are very PURE.
But anyway i would start using sweet products together with a mollasses after the second week of flowering, since in week 1 you want to buffer the levels of nitrogen and extremely boost P and K in the first week to create nice tight compact flowering sites and less internodal stretching. Sorry off the subject. But in the veg stage you can use it also but a molasses product or a carb product however you want to call it should be enough, since the sweet has a lot of ingredients for resin and terpin production. Make sure you stock up on your beneficial bacteria and funghi. Will only help your roots. And i can only say dont forget the soil, is one of the most important aspects of growing that is often over looked or underestimated. good luck on your grow, hope it gets sweet enough for you, lol. But a little tip is the bigger the container the better. The roots can make or break your crop. greets -syze-

i use it and love it... u can use it throughout veg and throughout flower... you might not need it, but it keeps the brix level up thats the level of sucrose in the leaves, which is a building block of the plant...10 mil per gallon its ph balanced and doesnt add ppm... your plants will love it. god luck.

Using a 'brand' sweetener with molasses is like using AN nutes AND FloraNova - overkill. Too many things trying to do exactly the same thing. Most brand sweeteners are either molasses plus shit, or a molasses type derivative plus shit.

Grandma's Molasses, it's in the Syrup Aisle at Walmart for $2.46 a bottle. 1 Tbsp/g, and I usually start it about the second week of flower. As a matter of fact, my new round of girls just started hot nutes and molasses tonight, 14 days to the day they went under 12/12.

Wonderful stuff, it's really easy. You can get off into all the man-made crap and get the same results as molasses - if you give your plants a bunch of empty calories, then they do just like we would do if we sat around eating molasses infused stuff - get fat.

This hobby is only as expensive and complicated as you decide you want it to be.

Yeah your right its overkill, to the new who just follow the feeding labels and buy all their products. Learn how your plant lives and give it what it needs and not everything. I know these products give the experinced way more control, AN itself says that most of their products are not for begginers and should be further looked into. But due to all these new growers that dont really look at the plants life cycle and its exact needs will like you say "overkill" their plants. Your post is not wrong for begginers, but for people that know how theyre plants work and know when and what to give them you cant find better lines.
Sometimes logic helps a little bit. AN and Floranova may have many products that do the same thing but with different levels of fert and etc.. Keep looking at AN they are changing theyre products to get rid of this overkill because i believe they noticed most people dont study marijuana botany they just want to pplant and water and expect the best.
Even the cheapest ferts will work in soil.
Dont forget AN is actually made for Hydro but can be used in Soil, but then one must really use it differently.
In your case, i believe you may be a little more experienced with watrering and growing, lol, so maybe you should try a side by side comparison, but first only by the things you know you need, not what the company tells you. The products you use now, and just the same thing but in the AN line. I guarentee you atleast a 5% diff, i wont say a 100% percent diff, the stuff isnt miracle grow lol.
Posts like the ones you give disincourage people to find out and truely use that what is best for them. So it would be better to say read up on what exactly your plants need and when and then buy your nutes and addititives based on what they need, but not line bashing.

So now that you say the product is mollasses plus shit. What is the shit? chelating agents?? oh, those only help the roots do less work.
I cant say all what you say is wrong but your way over doing it.
I know for a fact that AN is a very high quality product, but to everyone there own.
keep it green. -syze-

Um, what? I think you mis-read my post.

I'm not line bashing, I have no opinion about AN, good or bad, and I'm very sure I know how this plant works :D

All I was saying is that using any branded sweetener in addition to molasses is pointless. Use one or the other, not both, since they're both doing the same thing.

My personal preference is the straight molasses. $2.48 and can be bought just about any time, anywhere, whereas the branded stuff needs to come from the hydro store and has a significantly higher price tag.

Like I said, I wasn't arguing for or against any branded sweetener. I couldn't give a crap less about any product line. I don't use all the damn additives and stuff, I follow the KISS principle. I use one nute, and the molasses, and it takes me under 3 minutes to mix my nutes and I'm done.

That little daily effort has yielded me first run plants pulling just shy of 2 ounces per. I certainly won't be changing anything - if it ain't broke, don't fix it :D

Glad you like the AN line, I've heard it's great stuff

why hot water? does it dissolve easier?

I ued hot water when working with ANY powder or a thick substance like molasses..such as Epsom Salts,A.N Big Bud powder, and Grandmas's Molasses..it helps it dissolve more into the water, instead of just being "suspended" in the water...

As for A.N...SOME of there products are def worth it..such as the base nutes,BUD BLOOD,BIG BUD,OVERDRIVE,and FINAL PHASE for the flush..I use these, and have heard most others agree that these are the only products worth buying..I also only use mollases..as thats what most of these other "sweeteners" and carboloads are..mollases..BUT,they also add other complex sugars, amino acids,etc...so its just NOT pure molasses..but when using bud booster like big bud,overdrive,etc...these already contain amino acids, and vitamins..so the mollases just adds the carbs and other trace minerals..

Blackstrap Molasses

Blackstrap Molasses

I hope y'll are using blackstrap molasses, correct? Only this kind has all the extra micronutes you want. :canabis:

One more thing don't use water out of a water heater. There is all kinds of crud in the bottom. :yoinks: hank :joint:

Sounds a little different when you say it like that, i completely agree to an extent. When using chemical ferts, I would say that sweet would bring out more flavor then just molasses since I did look into the Yucca extract and other things that are added in the sweet product that i use, and a lot of the ingredients actually do a lot for a plant or the soil beneficials(which are just as important to me).
But honestly I am going to try a plant with regular Molasses and one with regular molasses and a sweet product. Am curious, and before i set my opinion in stone I'd rather have some facts.
Also if you wouldnt have mis-read my post you would have noticed that I noticed you must have much experience and didnt doubt YOUR knowledge on plants, but tell me couldnt you know more? or do you know everything? just asking ..
Take it easy -syze-

I'm not sure how we're misunderstanding each other here. I never said I knew it all about the plant, didn't even talk about knowing the plant? I just said you'd be using two products that do the same thing.

If you're doing a comparison run (which I think is awesome, love experiments :D) Do one with the Sweet, one with the molasses, and one with both. That way we can see the difference side by side, and that would be very interesting to see

Actually, I think in this situation, the gpw would be useless (we'll start another thread if you want to debate wether gpw is the best measure under any circumstance :D). GPW on a mixed strain first run means nothing. And, to be honest, I can't remember the yields on the other plants in the room :biglaugh:

To me though, I thought it illustrated the point I was trying to make, which was that you don't need a complex nute mix to get excellent results. To me, pulling 2 zips off of one plant in a bagseed run, where you have mixed strains and can't tweak nutes, is definitely proof of concept on the KISS principle :D

I really wish I could have saved her. Well, actually, I tried. That plant was a damn beast. She flowered out first, and packed on buds like it was going out of style. Best part was, she looked to be an early strain. I called her a 7 week for sure, and I think in subsequent runs, she would have been a 6 weeker :rasta: I revegged her to do a dedicated run and learn her nuances, but then I had my accident and couldn't care for her. She died a slow lingering death :badday:
