hydro vs soil

next year i wil grow AF's on hydro
I haven't done hydro yet, but in my experience they do better in Coco than they do in soil.
I think that hydro would work a hell of a lot better since it is impossible for them to become root bond ( I attribute root space to much of their performance) and since they tend to be relatively light feeders though they still tend to be heavy drinkers it would be the ideal medium.

Never done a hydrogrow myself but a couple of m8s do grow in hydro and i got to say they put ALOT of time in it. Their yields isn't better then mine.
The only time i've seen someone do a hydro-af worth a jawdrop was on OG many years ago. A guy from Finland, named Pakkupake, pulled 98g dry from a LR. The whole plant was a huge bud.
Never seen anything like that since.

Now I may be talking out my hole here but if we go with the theory that has been bouncing round the boards that the more root space the better with the autos (and it has been my experience so far), then even if we leave out all other theoretical benefits of hydro over soil, it still seems to make sense you would get a larger plant. In theory that means more bud etc. So while I am not doing hydro at the moment, I expect long term to be mainly running the autos with their feet wet.
Just a thought.

i have done soil and hydro with af's. i personally like hydro better, i always got bigger yields. i really like hydro better for all strains, i just like the control you have over the plant. you get to be "god" a little more with hydro.

These are hydro and they are doing great
those leaves look pretty cupped downward.....isn't that a sign of slight over fertilization? nitrogen to be exact? this is the only downside with hydro. it's very hard to get the ratio right. many good growers have killed innocent plants by not knowing exactly what they're doing. i stick to soil but that's my own personal preference.
Thats why i use coco, its kind of the middle ground between the two.
I haven't grown AF's but I will ONLY flower in hydro (Edited for clarity).
The complexity of hydro is seriously overrated these days.
GH nutes and the Lucas Formula of mixing nutes and tending your res is so simple I can't recommend it enough. Simple enough for nearly everyone to get a great result their first grow. Easy enough to get help with, should you have a couple of issues.
In all my research I haven't come across anything simpler for hydro.

I agree hydro can be pretty complex, defiantly not for the first time grower in most cases ( though all the 'Botanical Noobs' i know seem to think it is easier). Plus its more costly, though if you know what you are doing it is defiantly the way to go. Personally I prefer coco and soil because its more of a *'plug-n-play' kind of medium (*excuse the PC jargon, spend way to much time on my computer). Though I really like hydro due to the fact that their are practically no variables (I guess that is the little scientist in my talking). Have never really bothered with a proper hydro system though I have done my own 'semi-hydro' setups.
hi all iv grown soil hydro and coco only done the af's in soil and coco tho,with the nutes dialed in PROPERLY you will yeild way more with coco i did.nothings wrong with dirt its simpilist way i done it for years,hydro is better but way more can go wrong, coco is equalish or imo better once you sort out the ph and cf and POW bigger plants more bud .i recomend coco coir to learners but hand feeding not automated that kinda takes a little more experience .the trick is get big water bin get ph right and low cf and water like in dirt but not to the point of waterlogging and bingo
hi rose ,its a little to take on but if your thinking bout changing to hydro to grow af's id look more towards coco,easier and same results ,the last af i grew in coco yeilded 150g. im doing 1 now and its lookn very nice
