Please keep us updated, and list what you do, because I am eager to grow mushrooms as well, but just haven't took the leap.

sorry if I seem pushy, I just love detailed information

Oh yeah I'll deff be posting updates...more when the jars are fully colonized but there will be a few along the way showing you the progress of the jars..I'm hoping they won't take over a month like the B+ jars with 2 yr old spores...:wallbash:
this section is dope I don't even go to the shroomery anymore

Yah I just wanted to see in depth how the mono tub thing works, because if I am going to growing I want to grow a nice bit at once, and not just like 1/8 dried.

Looking good, VT. I know what you mean, sometimes it seems like colonizing can take forever. Have you ever considered Liquid Culture? Supposedly it's not too hard (need some honey and a baby bottle and a syringe of course) and it'll reduce your colonization time by a bunch...
I have some syringes that I don't know if I'll use anytime soon. Should I store them in the fridge? Did you store yours in the fridge?

I didn't keep the old B+ syringes in the fridge, or these treasure coast ones but the TC i got in the mail I only had for 3 days before I knocked up the jars...

You also can do Grain 2 Grain... It's very easy increase your stock spawn culture that way..

Quadracer: Monotubs are def the way to go.. But greenhouses can be just as rewarding... Also you can fully automate your greenhouse.. With timers and misters all you have to do really is place the bins inside and thats it.. The lights, humidity and fresh air can all be controlled with timers..

Day 4..heres three of the most colonized jars.

every one of them at least has a little spot. it's so hard not to check on them every day but it's more rewarding checkin on em every few days. a watched pot never boils right...:noway:

Quick update...havent given up on this log. The first 7 jars I knocked up are at 100% colonization, just giving them a night or two to really fill in all the way and then...
I was thinking about getting coco and spawning to bulk. 79 can you get coco and gypum etc at home depot? the town im in is pretty limited on places to get stuff like that...I'd much rather spawn to bulk than to fruit as cakes again...

Yea forget fruiting cakes it's a waste.. Coco can be picked up at PetSmart.. You want to buy them in little bricks.. They are under the brand name Eco Earth.. Make sure you get the unexpanded brick sized blocks.. They are rock hard and only the size of a brick.. You will beed to expand them with water yourself, that's what you want.. Don't buy any expanded bags or anything they are a waste.. You can usually get 3 bricks of Eco Earth for $7.. One expanded brick mixed with about a quart of vermicullite and a quart of coffee grounds will make a good sized monotub.. Usually about a 64 or 66 quart tub... That can easily yeild you 4-8 ounces dry...

Gypsum you might be able to get at a garden center but if not all you need is a peice of sheetrock.. Sheetrock is gypsum.. You want to break off a peice and remove the paper.. Then put inside a bad or pillow case and smash with a hammer.. Do it OUTSIDE, that shit gets everywhere.. Make sure you don't buy sheetrock that has been treated with anti-microbials... You want regular sheetrock.. Some people call it drywall or gypsum board it's all the same..
