How do you bank 20k in a few months making $8/hr? 40hrs x $8 =$320 wk. 40 hrs ot at $12/hr = $480 so $800/wk working 80 hrs is $3200 month before taxes and any expenses. Are you working 150 hrs a week or something?

im surprised there aren't any incidents of piracy up there - just wait off the coast for a boat to come in with a 10 million dollar king crab haul

it got sucked through that narrow point there, engine failed and it came out sideways and keeled. tipped the towboat also while they were trying to save the fisherman. i think he survived barely at the cost of 2 boats.

its one hell of a strong tidal currant.

I would also like to know how this math adds up. Did anyone interested in this thread actually go through with it? Does anyone have any experience with this. I am really interested and would be able to go up around late Spring or Summer and work for awhile if it was worthwhile. I wouldn't want to start out on a crab boat, maybe smaller fishing vessel or cannery, etc. But I am hesitant to look further into this because the pay doesn't add up and I had an ex gf that went there a few years back and could hardly find work (although, I don't know how hard she looked).

It just seems a bit like the stories told during the gold rush and we all know that the only people that profited doing that were the people selling the shovels
