about to change ventilation...have a question.

Im currently exhausting my entire cab, both the veg and flower sides with an s&p 125td. However due to temps being too high, i have ordered 2 thermaltake smart fans, to exhaust my veg area. My question is, how i was planning on hooking my s&p to directly to my cooltube, if i have all of the heat being pulled out of the flower side and into the utility room, and the heat from the veg into the utility room, would the heat escape enough with just a hole cut in the back of the utility area to let heat escape.

My other thought was if i can cool my veg area with just one fan, which im hoping i can, then i was going to add the other on to be an exhaust for the utility room, but im concerned that having the s&p blowing hot air in will put extra stress on the less powerful pc fan.

If all else fails, i have another idea, but i'll wait to see before i throw it out.
Thanks!:joint:

I am not sure why you can't figure out how to hook up your cooltube, maybe a picture would help.

As far as your utility room, just a hole would be enough. It would have to be a fairly big hole, make sure it matches the square inches of your fans. Or maybe make two holes.

I always look at ventilation as if it was water flow. If you had a pump in your flowering room, and one in your veg room, pumping water into your utility room, you would need to cut a big enough hole to make the incoming pressure escape. Air works the same way, air will flow to the area of least resistance. So in other words, yes just a hole would push air out of the utility room as long as it has the same square inches as your fans or grater.

Also, if you use a fan to exhaust the air out of your utility room then you would have to make sure that is your biggest fan. That way it will speed up your other fans by pulling more air instead of bogging down your other fans by not pushing enough. Hope all this helps and makes scents. Peace brother.

Thanks, that does make sense. Its not that i cant figure out how to hook up my cooltube, i just dont have enough room to hook it up or for much if any ducting in my cab and have it exhaust out the cab.

I will use a 6" hole to let the hot air escape the utility room, while my fan and cooltube are 5". I like the way of looking at ventilation like water flow, thanks for the help bulldog!

You screen name makes me think of a dirty joke i know about bulldogs lol.

Warm air rises; so if you attach to the utility room's vent-hole a duct or PVC elbow pointing upwards, then you'll dissipate heat better. Using an up-side-down louver will work too if rear space is an issue. An extra exhaust fan placed before the aforementioned additions will definitely help even more.

However, ultimately your external ambient temp best determines how hot your cab gets. If you can reduce your external ambient temps by maybe adding an AC or opening a window, you'll reduce your cab's internal temps.
