2nd Grow - Trying to get it right this time - 400w MH/HPS - Hows it look?

ItsAllOver

Devil's Advocate
True, it's probably not likely that they're exhibiting a nute deficiency yet. Doesn't look like bugs to me, though. And I don't have experience with every kind of white fuzz known to man, but I think it's more likely that it's a good fungus than a bad one.
You could transplant them if you're afraid of the soil. I'm sure you could do it without stressing the plants to death. However, we do tend to be a little too jumpy with the health of our plants. They are probably ok. I'll keep my eye on the thread. Good luck homie

I dont think the mold is the issue, it must be something else. all the leaves are coming in deformed. i think its a ventilation problem or RH or something. can't figure it out on my own.

Note to self:

Note to self:

DO NOT TRY TO SUPERCROP FOLLOWED SHORTLY BY LST!

I super cropped a few of the plants at the stem and it looked like most of them were healed up and thicker and doing well, then I decided I also wanted to go with my original plan which was to LST so I tied all of them down, they looked a little extra strained at the stem but looked like they'd be fine. When I checked on them again a few hours later two of the stems had split open, so much for low stress. The one plant seems to still be doing ok, but the larger cracked one has some droopy leaves, I hope they pull through it. Also I'm worried that all this stress is going to end up kicking me in the ass with male/female ratio.

This grow has been HSG (high stress growing) for me so far...I hope it pays out.

What is the ph of your runoff and how dry do you let them get between waterings? Ventilation is a good idea either way.

Temps are maxed at about 82, dont know low light off temp but ambient is not lower that 72. I have a fan pulling air into the crawl space now and that has definitely made a difference since my last few posts.

runoff pH shows either 6.0 or 7.0 depending on which test kit I have, I had one that only went to 6.0 and it shows that, so I bought another that goes to 4.5, the 4.5 one shows closer to 7.0. both are aquarium test kits.

I think I am just going to leave them completely alone in terms of training or anything (too much stress on me and the plants) and just let them grow another 2 weeks and then flip to 12/12. Only problem is i wanted to take some clones and there is very little branching at the moment.

they are 2 weeks old now, hopefully start seeing preflowers to sex them in coming 2 weeks.

I think I am also going to start feeding in a few days, I ordered the PBP trio, I'll start off with 1/4 strength.

I'll go two more weeks veg and then transplant, wait 2-3 days, and then flip to 12/12.

hows all that sound?

I'll post pics later tonight or tom.

Update: 3 week mark

Update: 3 week mark

Time for an update I figure. The plants are doing pretty great. Getting close to flipping to flower but no sign of sex yet. Checking every day for preflowers. The main problem right now is that I can tell they are getting close to needing a transplant but I don't want to waste time/materials to transplant the males so I hope the can hold out until I can determine sex. The feminized masterkush I transplanted already and its a shame that the second master kush was a runt. dont even know what to do about that one now.

Its also time for me to decide if im going to clone or not. the only issue is creating a seperate light leak proof veg chamber. as you can see the grow is just in the open in a crawl space. I can't fig out a cheap way to get a veg room going without fear of messing up the light cycle on these ones as they flower. does anyone have any suggestions? I can post some pics of the space I have left over to work with. Or should i just forget about cloning and just start over after these ones finish? I have also thought a little about reveg... I basically just want to cut down time in between harvests.

I decided on PBP nutes, btw.

enough talk here's the pictures:

I've always found that waiting until the plants show sex before transplanting them stunts them in the long run. You want the plant to have a good root system with plenty of space to go from the moment you flip them into flower, if you flip them then transplant you are adding maybe a week to flower time before the plant has grown into its pot. The plant may still mature at the same time, so you lost a week of bud swelling to a week of root development that could of taken place during veg.

I counted 6 plants in your grow, which means assuming a 50/50 male/female ratio you will only be chucking out 3 tubs of soil, is it really worth not doing it? The whole pain of transplanting for me is clearing up afterwards (I have to do it in the bath as I grow indoors and can't have the neighbours seeing the plants), and transplanting 6 plants isn't much more hassle than transplanting 3 tbh.

Edit: I don't actually sit in the bath and transplant, bubbles n all...............

I'm actually ready to flip to 12/12 so do you think i should just transplant and then switch right away or do i need to wait a bit for the roots to grow into the new pot

ventilation.

get air in. take air out. the details depend on your situation. up, down or through a wall. Those multiple 2x4s support an interesting point in your house, so you may be short on options. what's your nearest path to outside air? Plan to exhaust through carbon or out of a diffuser (like an attic) so the flowering aroma can't be pinpointed. if you can go down through the floor or up...

oh, and when you see colors in leaves that young besides green, judicious use of plain water for a while ... just my humble experience there. GOOD LUCK!!!

its a crawl space under a stair well. i can duct into the central air vent, as the unit is down there, by putting a hole into the AC venting. but then will the whole house smell like weed all the time or will the smell diffuse to the point of being unnoticeable. maybe i'd be better off taking some of the central air in though, to help cool...

but how is ventilation my main issue right now? It seems to me like they are doing ok except for slight over heating issues (which is obv a ventilation problem) but temps very rarely go over 85.

that yellowing on the one plant i thought was due to those leaves not getting light, I had just bent some of the fan leaves out of the way to expose that area. but if its nute overload ill ease off.

any advice on to clone or not to clone? I am thinking of just letting this one go as is for now and make sure i can handle just this much.

I'm just scratching my head as to how you have neither bad stretch nor real heat damage.
Yeah if you've got 85F temps, it doesn't sound like a problem.
I would veg a while longer (and I use 400s) especially if you are training the plants, so you could go ahead and transplant ... depending on how the sexing goes, you may be glad for the bigger plants.
I'm not good at cloning, but I encourage you to practice. don't worry if it doesn't work out. If you've got the space, why not?

for cloning, its not the space thats the problem, its separating the space into two light proof chambers. i cant fig out how to engineer veg and flower without light contamination to the flowering ladies. i think ill try to get some w/b poly and see if i section off a part and make it light proof. does home depot sell this or only hydro store? any other ideas or suggestions on how to attach w/b poly to the existing 2x4s and not have light get through.

i also just thought of maybe making a pvc frame and wrapping it in poly.

i am on a tight budget.

Ok I better heed warnings and get some ventilation going, I just ordered a hurricane glass shade and will be making my own cool tube soon. I am going to try to run it with a duct fan and hook into the existing exhaust tubing that comes from the house and goes into the central A/C unit down there and then throughout the house. I am hoping this will also help to dissipate that delicious stank once it comes. I have obviously considered just tapping into the A/C unit venting and vent in some of its cold air but i dont know if will destroy any attempts to cool the rest of the house.

here's some updated pictures and a few pictures for some diagnoses...

I cloned yesterday for the first time in my life! i think theyre doing well!

Any help with the yellowing on the leaves and if I am hooking the vent system into the A/C system will a duct fan suffice? Does anyoe have any link-o-rama on fans and ducts. If I do PC fan how do you mount it into the duct?

Two weeks into flower!

Two weeks into flower!

Over due for an update I think. 2 weeks into 12/12.

lost 3 of 6 to males. doesn't sound too bad but 2 of those 3 were fem seeds, so out of the non-fem seeds i only got 1 out of 4 males, o well, i think these 3 are more than enough to try to manage for now.

realized waaay late into the grow that the soil i am using has a terribly low pH. starting to recover from that i think, i hope its not too late to get a decent yield, let me know what you guys think. the plants definitely look pretty thinned out from losing many of the large fan leaves.

here's the good news:

Some issues still:
still pH problems i think and maybe heat too, plants got a little too tall...thinking about supercropping them

This looks like it could be bad...please tell me its not, no idea whats going on, fungus?

And ill end on a good note.

Do these plants look like theyve been through too much to end up decent or being early in flower and starting to turn around do you think theyll be ok?

Day 26 12/12

Day 26 12/12

No one seems to be following anymore but I'll keep updating.

Starting to frost up.

The non-runt MK is the only one I am expecting to get a decent yield from, but all three are still chugging along.

The MK looks pretty though...
