Light proofing cord holes??

Hello all.I'm new to posting.I've done massive amounts of research on all kinds of different forums.I have a couple of grows under my belt(nothing serious)with decent results.I'm now going to grow with all organic,SOG method with seperate mother/veg and flowering cabs.I have a 250wt mh with bat wing reflector.I'll have to cut a decent size hole to fit the light inside the cab, with the ballast sitting outside the cab.Anyone have any ideas on how to light proof in the back of the cab where the cord will run through??Once I feed the light through, the hole will be alot bigger than the cord thats running through it.Any suggestions would be much appreciated.I will keep you all updated and have pictures soon.Thank you.

Heavy duty foil tape, in layered strips.
Couple strips across, couple up and down.
The heavy duty foil tape is 100% light proof and easy to use.
That is what I used for the same exact thing your talking about doing, works like a charm

Foam insulation.
You can use the spray type or get a roll of weather stripping and roll it up like a hockey puck or if there is a hydro store around you get one of those pucks for aero cloners.

they sell things like this at the hardware store, dont know what theire called but their for metal cases (ike power panels)with wires running out, might have a problem finding one long enough for the screw to fit, otherwire you can glue it on

Instead of cutting a hole big enough to fit the reflector through, work backwards. Place the reflector in the cabinet, disconnect the cord from the ballast, and cut a much smaller hole to run the cord from the light back to the ballast.

If the hole is just barely larger than the cord, use silicon caulking (just make sure to leave the right amount of slack on either side of the hole). Or maybe you can find a nice grommet that would fit the hole?

foam pipe insulation. Simple as that. Cut to needed size. Use the rest for bubble cloner or MDWC.

That is all.

oh try to use the stuff w/o the sticky on the inner side.

Thanks again everyone.I'm sure the men outway the women here but I hope in the next few months or so I'll be able to bring a little something to the table.I'll be constructing the veg cab this weekend.I had a few of those ideas but I just wanted others opinions.I precut all my needed holes today and picked my square pots.Looking forward to taking some construction pictures.

I use spray foam or heat rated mastic if it's going to be a very warm area like next to a ballast.
