trimming plant for scrog question

yeah, i did what freezerboy was saying, crush with finger tips, rotate crush perpendicular(90* turn) and again, till it gets bendy enough to snap over.

i think those look like good breaks

MILD warning. Super cropping or folding can break stems and stalks. It's terrifying at the moment but, don't worry. Stems tend to split parallel to the stem. These can often be left alone but, a twist tie or similar will allow the plant to heal in a matter of days. Stalks can snap in two. Again, wrap a twist tie around the wound and it will heal in a few days. Make a new fold an inch or two higher. Lighter for scale purposes only

check out this "bandaid" i wrapped around one of the breaks. it's really just a bit of green velcro with fuzz and hooks on each side so that you can just wrap it around like a piece of tape/bandaid. it keeps the break at an obtuse angle over 90 degrees, so not sinking, pointing down at the ground. So it keeps it erect while it heals. check out the pic:

without the bandaid/twist tie solution, the branch may fall down like this one in the foreground. This is what youre trying to counter with a twist tie?:

well it works if it's tight enough around the stem. With enough surface area like my bandaid to keep it erect while it heals (or i just dont care and i hope it will heal by itself:p) The twist ties FB used in his picture dont have enough surface area to wrap around the stem like a human arm cast and keep it up..
but to be honest yours dont look as broken as mine, and looks to be a healthy bend not needing a brace of some sort...let's wait for freezerboy, he always knows:)

nice, probably would have been fine by itself but what you have done is what i did to mine:) my plants seem to be at the same stage as yours in flowering.

i have a question though for someone with the answer: is an open wound poor plant hygiene? Open as in for bugs to walk right in, that kind of open, is it necessarily a bad thing whilst the plant heals?

In recent years, much has been written about the advantages and disadvantages of using a wound dressing on large cuts. Traditionally, wound dressing or pruning paint is used only on cuts larger than an inch in diameter. However, scientists have found that wound dressings are strictly cosmetic and have little to do with preventing insect or disease damage to the wound area. Pruning paint may, in fact, slow down the healing process. In general, wound dressings are not recommended or necessary, with one exception. If disease is prevalent throughout your plants, wound dressing should be used to help prevent an insect from spreading the disease through the pruned surface of your plants. Indoors this is even less likely to happen...

You say po-TAY-toe, I say po-TAH-toe. LST growers hate ScrOG cause it's too damn much work. ScrOGers hate LST because it's too damn much work. Super croppers hate both because ... yadda, yadda, yadda. The benefit of one over the other is a matter of personality and garden style. The one you "enjoy" more will receive better attention and, thus, better results.

Outdoors I find LST very easy, indoors, I far prefer ScrOG. The tie down spot is never farther than 1/2 inch away. These days I prefer super crop and ScrOG together. Grow thru the screen asap and fold her over. Keep her horizontal till she hits the wall and fold her side ways. Hit the next wall, fold sideways again but, that's me.

Cropping or topping is another form of canopy control. I avoid it because it doesn't increase lower growth as horizontal growing will. Some use it with excellent results. NGB comes to mind. Rather than grow horizontally, he simply topped several times.

Hmm now you have me confused. I've been reading a lot of your scrog posts and I thought you did the tying and training under the screen then let the shoots come through the screen?

Wait, you're talking about what you do when combining scrog and supercropping right?

Straightening defeats the fold. Don't straighten without need. If split is vertical, leave the fold alone. If the stem/stalk snaps in two horizontally, straighten up so everything's touching and the healing process can begin. After 2-3 days re-fold an inch or two higher up.

Aw crap, someone's paying attention! :Bolt:

I used to do all my training under the screen. The super crop/ScrOG above the screen is a new wrinkle. I determined I released my Thunk too soon and keeping her out of the lamp was a constant battle. When my Destroyer tried the same, I tied to the very end of the grow.

Believe it or not, the Thunk at left only produced 5 grams more than the Destroyer at right. This is because the Destroyer made more efficient use of the screen maximizing footprint and allowing the lamp to be hung 14-16 inches lower.

Here's one of the two main colas. When it came through the screen, I folded it forward. When it hit the door, I folded sideways. When it hit the wall, I folded it backwards. If you look at 3:00 you can see the twist tie I loosened so I could lift the cola for the camera. No way was I going to thread every one of those buds through the mesh on an individual basis. It grew up to be one of the colas on the right.

my god man just bend lower down the stalk. You can also lay the pot on an angle.
