Guerilla Drying...

Ok, bud coming in, and many are hanging in the back of my wood boiler...not running yet, so it is cool and dark in there.

Also experimenting.

What if I took a largish cardboard box, and punched holes through the bottom. Then, I insert the stems of buds, and secure them on the other side with paper clips. Down off my bog, I have a large, dark blue topper from my old f-150 sitting in the grass. I put the box in, and open all the windows so it does not get too hot.

It can rain, but the box will stay dry in the center of the topper.

Opinions?

There has been some discussion on guerrilla drying. The main points are keeping the product dry, good air flow and a dark environment. You also want to look very hard for mold before hanging, if it has mold it will spread to the other drying buds.

The box in the topper will probably work, but I would let them hang dry in an open darkened covered area for a few days. (3-5 depending on conditions)

Thanks to those who understand that drying herb is a peaceful exploit.

My own strain, Nirvana NL X Shanti's Early Queen is what I put in there...will check daily for trouble.

Can't put them in my basement because I have kids and my wife would kill me...drying is not easy for those of us with families and careers and stuff.

well i just walked into a fockin ambush.
We call it guerilla because it's "crafty"...."resourceful"...not because we done camo and man anti-aircraft guns
I think the pick-up cap thing will be okay as long as you keep it out of the sun and get all the windows open. Should just tie some lines across the inside and hang from that

H20, thanks.

But if I just hung lines, I would not have the buds in total darkness. I would have to cover the windows, which are on four sides, and then my kids are wondering why I did that...

Since the days of overgrow, which I still miss, I have it in my head that the darkness must be dark...I honestly can't remember why.

I'd imagine that the pick-up canopy would work great, just go down there in the morning and evening to check for any mold development. If it's close to you're house, you might even be able to check on it more often.

Any sort of covert hanging apparatus will work as long as air can circulate freely. Keep the dew off of it and elevate it away from the earth, you'll be good to go. This route takes longer than fan drying and mold must be watched for, so keep that in mind. I just dried a couple oz of Dieselryder this way and it's curing nicely.

To the peace lovin dude who chimed in earlier: guerilla here is in reference to outdoor growing done in a hidden and covert manner. The word has taken many different meanings in recent decades. Google guerilla gardening and you'll probably fit right in with those people. Guerilla gardening has nothing to do with cannabis, instead it involves secretly and anonymously landscaping a barren or overgrown piece of abandoned land in the night. The next morning, what once was an ugly, weed filled lot or area is landscaped and seeded with wildflower. It's quite interesting and has nothing at all to do with Kalashnikov's , Che or Subcomandante Marcos. Get with the jargon hippie dude.

hey Dominican, noticed your leafs curled up a bit on some. They look like my plants did after I added a c02 genny to the room. Ended up they were under fed, as all the plant processes speed up, more photosynthesizing needs more nutes. Not saying that's the case in your room, just took notice.

And you certainly don't need complete darkness to dry.

dominicangreen, hablas español?

When you see the use of the term "Guerrilla" here in the Outdoors Growing Forum, you have to understand that it relates to Growing Cannabis in land that is not yours, i.e: public-land. The term was coined a long time ago too... because not everyone has land of their own to grow outdoors, and not everyone can grow indoors, so many of us plant a couple of plants here and there in public lands.
the term has no relation at all with paramilitary guerrillas...

but I understand your sentiments, it would be better if we coined a different term, one that cannot be mis-interpreted so easily. but that term has been in use for so long that it would be a hard task.

I usually refer to it as Gorila growing, a little more friendly.

peace!
