I finally am just about finished w/ my new cab. Its finished enough that I can show you guys some pics, and it won't be a total yawner.

I've been growing in soil in a C13 cab w/ 450 watts HPS.

this will be 300 watts HPS and hydro

I didn't quite know what forum to put this in, as its sort of a show and tell, and sort of a how-to on cabinet construction, and sort of a DIY article that covers quite a few details. ...so I stuck it in the "general" growing forum

anyway I took about a month to build it...just in my spare time, and got most materials at home-depot and walmart. (I'll itemize the monetary setback in the thread a bit later)

I took lots of pics, especially on things that confused me at first.

This is a lot like the NGB box, w/ some modifications and different dimensions, and I used lots of ideas from peeps on here who have already done similar cabs. I'll try to give credit to the ideas that I borrowed.

I don't know how well I'll explain myself on this thing the first go around, but if anyone has questions on it as far as specifics go ...just ask and I'll elaborate as best I can...at first It'll proabbly be a lot of pics, and a bit of explanation.

The one thing about this cab is that it comes entirely apart
...thats right I built each panel seperate, before putting it all together, and if I wanna move it all I have to do is whip out a screwdriver, cut the caulk and all the panels will seperate and be able to be re-assembled VERY EASILY somewhere else. ....this will be more clear once you see the pics.

Only things I have left to do are:
-seal the doors (they actually seal really well already w/ no weatherstrip)
-install my reflectors for the HPS
-finish carbon scrubber
-install locks and door hardware
-finish SWC res.
-finish scrog screen

some details:
-(2) 150 watt HPS lamps (300 watts total) flower room (dual cooltubes)
-(4) 15 watt floros (60) watts total) mom/clone area
-Dayton 160cfm shaded pole blower
-Flower area is a bit over 3 sq' feet and is 3 feet tall
-mom/cloner area is just under 1 foot wide and 2 feet deep and is 2 feet tall

I went crazy w/ ventilation since that was one of the biggest complaints I heard peeps having w/ these cabs...I was actually going for overkill on ventilation on purpose, so I could cap some off if necessary, but it's not necessary. I have negative pressure throughout tha cab w/out capping anything, and temps are barely above ambient room temp. after 12 hrs on w/ both 150's running.

here you can see the light-traps in the floor when the shelf is slid out...they are under the mom/clone floor like this too.

I hope you guys like it so far. The next post you'll see the seperate panels, so you can see how it all went together (and comes apart)

one person can move this thing alone into an apartment if they wanted, using just a small car, and set it back up in an hour or two. It'll set up inside a closet real easy too.

Hey, ive been reading your cabinet forum with much interest, and im attempting to make a shameless copy of it to be honest! the problem is im really, really (probly need another really), new to the growing world so i have pretty limited knowledge to say the least...in the mom/cloning area how long do u run the lights for? do they just run non stop, and how long does the average veg time last? just until the plant looks like a right size to flower, then u switch the lights to the flowering cycle p.s. what would you reccomend in regards to this? im gonna be using my cab the same way as u did for the first bit as space is limited, use the smaller area for veg, moms, and the larger for flowering.

to everyone who reads this forum, and of course you NOKUY i do appologise for the noob questions, i admit i am new so please dont be too disparaging, everyone has to start somewhere!

im glad some of you got some ideas from my cabinet!

as for the questions...the lights in the mom area stay on 24/7.

i usually veg for about a month....no sense in going any longer, but i have done it shorter and seems to sacrafice some yield to do it any shorter.

I am in complete AWE! I have been spending the last hour while the wife is reading her book skimming the pages of your great thread. I will be subscribing and following from now on. I do have a question or two:

I see you're a soil guy. I am going for my first grow and I know they say Hydro is not for beginners but once I get involved in a project I take full control-and I want the fastest yield and the best product. I am also a bonofide do-it-yourselfer like you, and a handyman to boot. So do you think this cab (maybe increased in size a few %) would work with a DWC bucket system. If you're not familiar they are similar to THIS here. Otherwise I will go with my original idea and build a whole dedicated room in my basement. I fell in love with the concept for hydro when I first saw it. I am not looking to constantly water my ladies..so hydro is for me (among other reasons)

Where are you drying you buds? Do you use the same cab in the "non-flowering" off time?

Hey Yukon!!

I am truly blown away at your craftsmanship.
I plan on building your box in the next month and I cant wait to do so. I'm going to incorporate the Dr.'s perpetual SOG with it as well; seems like it could be a little powerhouse.

Couple things though:

How much light would you recommend? My space is 3' x 3' x 4'(h)
There is a great lighting store in my area and a nice air cooled reflector, hps bulb, timer, and ballast is $230 for a 400W and $260 for a 600W. Would an air cooled 600 work in that area or would I need a smaller one?

Strains.. I've been looking for a reliable strain to do perpetually in this box but I was hoping you could tell me a couple of your highest yielders in a box that size.

Yukon or is it Nokuy, can you give me specs on the fan you are using. I plan to build or rather convert an existing freebie cabinet into a very similar one to yours. HERE a link to my potential beauty. Lemme know what you think. I love your design I will be referencing it from here on.

The reason I ask about the fan is there is a surplus store locally here that always has old fans taken from equipment. Sometimes the stuff is even new. They had 3 fans left when I was there 2 days ago that looked very similar to yours. I want to get them before they sell out (I may just get an extra in-case). In the first post of this thread you state you flower area is 3 sq ft and veg/mom is 1 sq ft. That makes 4 feet wide? I thought I read in another post it was 3 feet total with.

just re-painted the ol' money maker......re-assembly tomorrow....... then paint inside "the bunker" (10x bigger than the money maker).....(titanium flat white paint is the shiiiiiit)
