Seeds/Seedlings in Coco - Looking for advice

I just get a pack of seeds from a friend. 7 'purple' seeds and a handfull of other various 'chronic' bag seeds. I am looking to start these in Coco. Here is what I was thinking so far, let me know if I am doing anything wrong here:

- Germ seeds in paper towel
- Move into red plastic cup filled with coco, keep moist no soaking, no nutes
- Eventually move into 1 gal pots and then 3-5 gal

So here are my questions:

When should I start giving 1/2 strength nutes, and when should I feed full on? I plan on using Rez's 'formula' and just giving them water from my filtered fridge for a while before actually adding any grow nutes. When should I start 'Day 1' of the Formula?

When should I transplant to the 1gals? And when to the 3 gals after that (I assume just before flower)

Should I flush my 50L bag of Bcuzz coco fiber before use or is this preflushed?

Any links to info on germing seeds and growing seedlings in coco would be greatly appreciated, thanks all :joint:

Any one more quick question, is this the proper way to germinate seeds:

Place seeds in moist paper towel (toilet paper ok?) and then in a ziplock bag. Once sprouts form place them in coco gently with the taproot facing down.

Hey bro dont know about the Bcuzz i have never used it but all the rest sounds right

I start feeding 1/4 strength nutes from the first set of true leave not the little round one(cotyledons spelling?) and work your way up each feed or second feed

I usually wait until i can see some roots at the bottom of the cups the plant is usual about the height of the cup to transplant

good luck

Thanks guys, wanted to go with canna but they were sold out :) I'll give her a quick rinse just to be sure, do I need to do any kind of nute buffering in the red cup before the seed goes in or will it be fine on just water until I see leaves?

Also, when will a seedling be strong enough to take 400watt 24/0, after it pops out of the cup?

I agree 100% with both of those answers.
A quick rinse with tap is all you need. After that, I give plain r/o ph'd water until I start feeding, same time as shaunmulok does.
I'm currently vegging some c99'c from seed and flowering some Schnazzleberry#2, all in coco, all using Rez's "the recipe". You're gonna love how easy it is.

Hell yeah, I'm so excited :) Just dropped my seeds into a wet Paper Towel and into a ziplock, hope its wet enough in there.

Forgot to add, as seedlings, monitor the moisture of the coco. You don't want it too wet. You want the roots to grow down into the coco. Also do that when you transplant to bigger pots, let the coco dry A LITTLE to encourage roots to grow deep into the coco searching for water. Once you have full blown roots your plants explode!

dont water till runoff in seedling stage just give them phed water at 5.8 and and keep them not dry but slightly moist

Good tips, thanks :) Should I not water to runoff at the seedling stage?
No.
The easiest way for me to explain it ( and I hate saying it) is to treat the seedling in coco as if it were in soil, when it comes to watering, until roots a grow down. You can pop out the coco "mold" from the cup to check.

Nice thanks :)

One more question if you don't mind, how important is humidity? Ive heard not to cover your coco, and also that covering the seed before it pops above the soil is ok. My room has very low RH, around 35% will I need a humidifier? My room isn't sealed, I use a cooltube so I feel like the humidifier wouldn't be very effective anyways.

No need for covers, imo. Even in the lowest of humidity I've never had any issues in coco.

some really tight big bud strains can develop bud rot in humidity higher than 50% i have found i try and keep my humidity lower than 50% in the last few weeks of flower, week 4 or five i try to get it low to avoid bud rot

Just got home and checked, 6/7 popped so far! :woohoo:

Putting them in red cups now. Once the break the coco surface, should I have them under flouro's for a while (maybe until the first set of leaves?) or should I just put them under the hps right away?
