What's new

Bird and Bull go back to work.

So you were playing mad plant experimenter, Jack. I like that. Pushing the envelope. If mine didn't have mold I'd try it also. But it does so I'll mix it with dried up trim and let the worms do their voodoo. Same with some old dried up nuts I got sitting around. Pecans and walnuts. Not my personal nuts though those are old and dried up, too. lol. The damn worms sure eat from a nice buffet.

Jack

I apologize. I was talking about adding fruit to the compost mix when making a tea, not adding it to your soil - LOL

RE: Nuts

The fish enzyme product from Neptune's Harvest has advertising materials which make the point of fish enzyme (vs. fish emulsion) containing high levels of Omega-3 and Omega-6 oils which are also found in nuts.

You may be onto something!

CC

Well the Puns are off the deep end but all is fair in pun-dom..

yeah I was looking at nuts the other day.. In the micronization I figure parts per~something might be alright.
We are talking small batches and non commercial here so picking up some materials at consumer prices is okay if you are making a blender full of powder.. The Fruit might be okay but it has to be really dry.
I just did banana chips and it's really cake-y but it's all good because it's a TBS this a cup that..

I'm not going to "compost" this soil for a while but you know another round of cover crop is in that cycle... For now top dressing with premium materials is simple and affordable.

I'd like to have some reference on materials and bud quality.. I doubt it's mission critical on the exotics but I can't say one way or the other on those Omega-3 and Omega-6 oils..

What are they for in a soil food web?

Indeed.. I have a supply of spent Starbucks coffee and just ground up some banana chips plus all the other stuff one would expect including High P sea bird.

Nuts: Punny..

Hey Organic gardening now seems like something to marketed but you and I know it's all about using what you have on the cheep to get something worth eating or in this case consuming in some form.

I've always been interested in food stuffs in the soil.. So the way to go is experiment..

B~OG @ 24 days of flowering

B~OG @ 24 days of flowering

Very impressive genetics. I've grown some nice bud before but nothing before has been so frosty so soon.

I'm not shooting color balanced because I like the effects of the imbalance ( no pun intended ).

This season the deep red is gone with the twin metal halide bulbs but it's still red enough for the effect I like.

Here are two shots I want to share.

I believe the calyx's are swollen enough to show they are well seeded.

On the leaf please look at the underside.. I'm sorry I can't share a higher Rez.. I hope it can be seen well.

On the Organic soil side I made a miconized mix and top dressed..
A lot of High P sea bird guano this time. The soil was watered well before hand so the mix can sit on top and get active naturally.

I like this B~OG it's somewhat on the mint side of Kush.. Another plant where I almost know that smell but not.. It will be interesting to find out. I'm real tempted to snag a popcorn bud but I'm thinking a second layer will be possible.. That means after the first cut down another harvest can be taken a couple weeks after.

Jaykush is right I should have plenty for medical purposes even after I harvest the seeds out of the bud. Maybe a little bubble hash or something.. Never made bubble hash but it sounds good.

The Kush is done stretching with inches left over.

The two Doctors are still working on making things hard for me. The second cut down has reached the light..

So tonight is tie-down city; again.

Yeah VerdantGreen.. I would do things differently next time; now that I know these guys better. But ain't that the way it goes?

My current desktop backdrop

Well Here is my current desktop backdrop.

This is the one Bubba Kush X OG Kush I have at 24 days from 12/12 flip.

This is the native light I like so much.. It's a lot bluer this year and I am not so happy with some of the greens but this one looks good to me.

the "Hair artifact" seems to be something to do with my camera.. I have seen it in that position before.

Update September 9th

Update September 9th

I'm keeping my pop-corn harvest to a minimum and I can tell the Bubba~OG is going to serve me well.

Has a nice mood lift and a smile power! Right on Kryptonite!

I do know a bit about Indica mixes in this garden so I believe the B~OG has the best I knew to do. Plus I felt I was truly lucky to snag them!

So the Stars of the show are the B~OG at this point but I can tell you all about the rest now.

Everyone is flowering now. About The Doctors I have a Mango Pheno and something akin to Juicy Fruit.. I was told there is a Pheno called Tuti-Fruity so maybe this is it. Not quite Juicy-Fruit but close.. It's early for it so it's delicate.. Actually I noticed that the Doctors have delicate scents. I will be curious how they mature and cure.
Now on to the White Rhino.. Dog! It's on the Dog Shit side of Kush.. I am a bit worried to smoke that as i can tell it's a serious situation. All is good and cola development isn't all it could be due to it's assigned real estate. But boy.. Dog.. Musky and as Chong said "Mostly Maui~Wowie but part Labrador" Deff gonna go some place safe to try that.

But the star of the show is Girl Friend.. The Bubba~OG cross from Kryptonite.
Now she is heavy with seed from "StudMuffin" her B~OG BO so I'm not seeing a lot of buildup of "frost" however I see new flowers so I assume she has fed right and has the power to press on.

Hard colas. Sticky and that Kush smell that is slightly on the sweet side.

I will be alright for my medical needs with these genetics.

So That brings us up to date.. I have resigned myself to learning about the Doctors since I can't grow them like the Indica.. I don't know what will happen there; however, I am NOT disappointed with GreenHouse on these genetics at all. I do need to adjust my style with these.

So here are a couple shots of Girl Friend.. I am impressed with the Banana shaped cola. I just couldn't get a shot that expressed what i wanted.
As we can tell the frost isn't much heavier but she is growing some seeds for me.

I want to thank everyone following along. I'm not sure what else I can do so I'm open to suggestions.
The soil is not needing anything for the rest of the grow as best I can tell.

Looking good, how they doing here lately?

Thanks for asking.. Not so much on the frost because they are growing a lot of seeds.. That is taking a lot of energy.
I fed again with some guano mix as it seemed correct to add more.
Starting to see some yellowing of leaves on some plants so I may have effectively managed the nitrogen as i was trying to do just to see if I could.

I have sampled the B~OG and White Rhino via microwave dry and I like the up happy of the B~OG and I forgot what i was doing for a little bit with the WR..

Mostly it's a wait now.. No real work to do..

Hey I have a little clone doing the deed on the delayed Doctor.. That cross may have some interesting scent qualities. It's in a 1 gal on a shelf and tied to that cola..

Update 9-23-2009

Update 9-23-2009

Some MUSIC to go with your read.

I see that many are reading this so I thought to add something more substantial.

The soil continues to decompose materials all the time so while I write "I'm not feeding" the plants that means I'm not loading up on materials for them but I still am adding materials to keep the cycle going.

I added a mix of rice flower, sea bird guano, azomite, and fresh ground coffee the other day.

I take the time to "till" the soil surface to mix the materials in. I feel that this mixing of the top half inch helps expose more surface to decomposition.

Today I have four photos to share.. I have to say the White Rhino is growing Horns. The B~OG is really fat with two styles of cola.. The long and the pine cone.. On that I'm not sure if it's about how close the cola was to the light or not.. Is it possible for one plant to express two cola styles? I dono.

The Doctor was delayed from an LED light on the wall plug so she is behind. "Little Sister" didn't get the real estate this time out but she will be my happy little treat I can tell..

That's it really.. I hope to have some nice seeded bud shots in a few but it's still too soon for that.

Again thanks for all those who have taken the time to follow this thread. I was hopeful things would turn out well and I did stick my neck out with my initial statements but, all is well.

Nice. Did you intentionally hermi that one female for seed? I did this using Colloidal Silver and it worked great. Got enough female seed to last me years.

Never mind, read your post again and see you tied one right next to it. Cool stuff, I thought it was a hermi at first.

I was wondering if someone would ask me..

No not Hermi.. That's a reveg male. Now how that relates to plant psychology I defiantly have pondered.

Brings up more questions on plant behavior for me. It sort of suggests that it was trying to reveg and flower at the same time don't it? Definitely an interesting situation.

Good eyes!

Jack

Wait....

Are you talking about the Doctor B~OG cross? My bad..

Nice grow; how bout a lil update for the masses; we're getting hungry

I'm sorry guys.. Since the focus is the soil here in this forum I went short on the photos.

I haven't feed much since I last wrote and I feel everything the plants need to finish their seeds are in the soil.

Let me see.. All the colas are being harvested with seeds in mind. That means as i see they are ready to go dry based on how the seeds look.

The Bubba~OG is smooth and is an exercise weed. I power walk with this and will do so again today. I kid you not! I toke that and it's power walk time!

Bubba~OG is smooth. It is so very light. Also I was in a room with a person who said they couldn't smell "the weed smell" as I smoked it. That has something to do with how it was grown since I have noticed different strains have had similar qualities.. Smooth, light and low burn odor.
So Bubba~OG gos into a jar as exercise weed! Smoke a bowl and power walk a few miles for fun.

picture.php

The White Rhino is still maturing as they were delayed with light issues from an LED.
The Doctor is also with seed and is the last to get the chop since she was directly under that LED status light and the last to flower.

I have to admit that all the weed here will be broken up and seeds taken. The rest will become oil and some smoke. It's somewhat sad but next time.. Next time I can grow those nice seedless buds and cure them proper.

----------------------------

I was reviewing the shots and here is one people may like to see.

hi jack have you got any pics of the actual plants or a group shot of the whole tent?

i'm interested to see how they grow in that soil bed of yours :)

thanks

V.

A few.. lol..

This has always been a seed grow box.

Plants develop excellent roots, stalks and the vegetation is lush.

Are there specific questions I can answer?
