DJ Short's F-13 MicroGrow

This thread will be documenting my f-13 microgrow project. I just got past my first grow of only 1 female bubblicious plant that yielded about 10 grams of awesome bud. I wanted the highest of the high's as far as sativa's go so I went with DJ short's f-13, from seedboutique. I have begun construction of my new grow box that that will eventually be growing my f-13 beans. I will be searching for a keeper female and male for breeding of these awesome genetics.

Anyways here are some pics:

Update:

Ok so I went ahead and topped my F13 sprout. Im going to attempt to clone it from the top I took but I may have to wait for a larger cut as this is an extremely small cut and I hear DJ's genetics are rather tough to root. I really just wanted to get the top off so I have more shoots to work with later, whether its male or female. My 2 bubblicious clones seem to be doing alright, no new growth but they are still green which is a good sign. They should start to root in the next couple days so hopefully new growth will ensue.

very very cool design for the box. im busy trying to come up with a cheap and easy box making technique so i can leave some of them at friends places as to preserve certain moms. thanks for the inspiration and nice hinges and lock.

Update:

Ok so the outdoor bubblicious is doing super duper well, although I thought it was starting to flower a couple days they are just preflowers with pistals. It still seems to be vegging out incredibly well and its growth is starting to stretch so it may be going into flower mode any day now. My expectations from this clone have been exceed by its growth, I have nothing to complain about. Every leaf on the plant is dark/light green with very velvety soft textures. I cant wait till this plant starts to flower as it is going to look incredible, and yield quite a bit. It grows about half an inch on every shoot each day and has pretty close node spacing!

edit: Those are the materials for a small 1 cubic foot mother box in the background. I plan to use the fan and light from my old box and left over materials for a nice little box for when I find a keeper F13 momma. I cant wait till I have a mother plant running as I will just take the clones and throw them straight under 12/12 in the flower box so I will basically have a perpetual grow going which is my dream.

Update:

Ok I couldnt resist the temptation of a scrog in my new box. I built a cubic foot motherbox yesterday to eventually house my bubblicious and f13 mother (when I find one) and it currently holds my f13 sprout. I have the rest of the clones in the box with my bubblicious plant under a screen. I checked for roots on the 2 early cuttings from the bubblicious and they are bulbing up so roots will come any day now. I doubt that top from the f13 will root but ill keep it around until it dies anyways. I now have my flower box running on 12/12 which should help the clones root faster and then one bubblicious clone will be moved to the mother box. I really had to work with all the shoots to get them under the screen but I believe I have it setup for them to produce nice colas. I have about 6.5" of vertical grow room from the top of the screen to the lightboard so it will be a tight fit. I can still move the lightboard 1-2" up if absolutely necessary but I dont think it will be a problem.

Here are some pics:

My plan is to keep only 1 bubblicious clone, so which ever roots first will be thrown into the motherbox alongside the f13 sprout. The other 2 bubblicious clones will just be flowered inside the box to produce little bonsai plants! The purpose of the f13 top at this point is to flower it to see if the sprout is a male or female to decide what im going to do with its growth.

I count roughly 50 bud sites but its all a jungle in there so its hard to determine how many budsites are actually there. It will be fun to flower this plant out as this will be my first scrog and second grow. I hope I learned enough from my first grow so that I wont fail this one.

Lookin good man. I love F13. I had some issues with growing F13 at first because she's sensitive to nutes, but yours look perfect.

take note... the scrogged plant right now is a bubblicious plant. I have ONE f13 sprout running in my other box for now and after the bubblicious is done I will start all my other f13 seeds to find a keeper momma and do some breeding... my title to the thread is misleading

Lil' Update:

I think I have fallen in love with the SCROG method. Its just too easy moving the shoots around and under the screen. The plant is definitely in a stretch phase but it is easily manageable by just bending the branches over and under. This strain is very branchy so I think the SCROG method will do it justice!

Here is the F13 Sprout. Im vegging it just long enough to get a viable clone then it will be triggered into flower and trained a but using LST. Notice its dark green, waxy fan leaves. I think if this plant is female it will be a very nice keeper, but it all depends on the high.

Update:

Things are growing nicely. Ive started training the F13 plant to try and keep it under 6 inches if possible, and I will most likely have to prune it back so it doesnt get to big as I need the bubblicious to finish before I flower it out.

The leaves on this F13 pheno dont appear to be mutated but they are showing slight variegation with its wrinkles. They also have a blue hue that you cant really see from the pic, but it is likely from the purpling underneath the leaves.

The bubblicious has been flowering (first sign of pistils) for 6 days roughly and the bud sites are becoming more apparent each day. I tried counting them and there are roughly 30 bud sites and a few random nodes under the screen that I ignore. I have also trimmed some of the fan leaves under the screen so they arent sucking up the needed nutrients from the top of the screen. It lost its baby smell (veg smell) a couple days ago, but in about another week its flower smell will start to develop which will be exciting! Anyways here are some pics:

One of the many bud sites just starting to form. Im thinking they will all get roughly 2-3 inch tall colas, hopefully weighing 1-3 grams each. I only draw this guesstimate from the results from the motherplant.

And here is the mess of shoots protruding from the main stem:

DSC_0154.JPG

And here is a pic from the top right as lights went off yesterday. All the leaves seem very healthy and the plant seems very happy overall. Im still anxious to get this plant flowered and out of there so I can start my breeding project with the F13 seeds!:

Update:

The F13 is now in day 2 of 12/12. I want to try and knock up my bubblicious clone if its male. If its female I will try a couple clones and try a reveg after flowering her. Im not looking for yield with this plant only a sample smoke to see if the clones are worth keeping or if I should just continue with the plan of growing the rest of the seeds to find a keeper.

I do love this plant. It has a wonderful smell, color and very strong growth (albeit a bit slow). It has slightly variegated (wrinkled) leaves and I haven't had to feed this plant yet as it shows no deficiencies.
