Colorado prices

Hey I'm new. So I've had my card for a few weeks now and I've got to admit that it's made my life a lot better. The only bad part is the prices are just insane. Is everyone else out there paying $60 an 1/8 for top shelf? I've been offered discounts on meds if I change caregivers, but I'm feeling like I'm not getting the best quality meds if I got that route.

It's not possible for me to grow my own, are there any other options out there? Or is this something I'm just going to have to deal with?

Dude, you can grow your own. 90% of my setup is made from stuff from Home Depot, Walmart, Lowes, etc. There are a few specialty items, but you can find that stuff easily. Check it out, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

...but I'm renting. It's a sad situation. I have a closet space that would be cool to grow in, but I'm worried about my place becoming stinky. I can't have the maintenance guy catching a whiff.

In Hawaii, the ASA has suggested that the law provides some kind of protection against being evicted while growing, saying its a human right to have medicine.

As far as prices here go, keep your eyes and ears open, its a competitive market right now and things will change fast. Some caregivers will offer you top shelf for good prices in exchange for signing them caregiver, and most dispensary prices will probably come down soon as it gets more competitive. If you have a terminal or severe illness, you should be able to find the good prices without signing caregiver over.

Any which way, check back in six months and see if you can't find the goods for 50/eighth.

Caregivers are people, just like conventional health care executives. If the guy down the street is charging more, does the other caregiver follow suit? The answer is probably yes more than no. When care costs more than it's worth or more than folks can afford, the industry should be subject to the same type of regulations all greedy bastards are subject to. Oh yeah, the conventional health care industry isn't regulated. They charge whatever they want. Doesn't look good for affordable mj dispensary prices.

Well it kind of puts the landlord in an awkward situation. I can't risk it at this point in my life.

I've seen advertising on craigslist where someone will offer a free 1/2 ounce a month that you sign them as caregiver. Is that legit? Seems kinda sketchy.

craigslist is sketchy. Be careful with anything craigslist. People get duped with far more legal precursors to fraud than medical mj. Just be careful and don't do anything you wouldn't do with a complete stranger/street dealer.

Yeah I'm not into it. I don't think I'd ever want to get involved with someone that I didn't know for sure was running a legitimate caregiver service.

Damn these dispensary prices!

One of our members talked to a guy named "Angelo" at Mile High Meds, he advertised something like you're saying on Craigslist. Another member knew the guy from social circles, and didn't have anything nice to say, basically a young guy in early 20's with not a whole lot of genetics, growing experience, common sense, etc. You'd be better off going to a dispensary, at least they're straightforward with you about pricing and have quality medicine. This guy was trying to act like Big Bud is some medical, while it may not be bad pot, it is certainly NOT medical grade.

Buyer beware of Craigslist, why do you think they're advertising there in the first place?

Elevated “street” price to preclude diversion

Elevated “street” price to preclude diversion

Welcome to the MMJ scene. I’m sorry to report the dispensaries here in SoCal are claiming they must sell at this elevated “street” price to preclude diversion. This is another way of enforcing a no quantity discount policy. :wallbash:
What a crock of shit and this profiteering is likely to ruin everything. I would certainly feel different if some of that money went to furthering the cause. We as patients need to avoid the dispensaries and do everything possible to self provide. I’m proud to only go for clones. The “Bud Tender” never met a patient who only bought clones before. :moon:
He he he I hope he try’s to find some smoke at the address I used from my license, ROFLMAO.

I am also having issues with the prices from my caregiver and the dispensaries. I am in the search for a new caregiver because of the "deal" my CG gives me. We started out with a free once a month and $250 each after that. He was losing money so I offered him $150 each and then $250. The whole point signing this guy over was so he could help me out and would have his pot for free. Well greed sets in, he tells me the other day that the dispensaries sell for $50-$60 an eighth so now it's $400 every time. This is because that's what he can sell it for at where he works. At some point I will get my room up and running again and then I will be growing for those like my self...DISABLED. I have no extra $$ a month. A raise in price like that means I can't afford the pot he grows on my card. With friends like this who needs enemies.

There is no "pot he grows on my card" here in Cal

There is no "pot he grows on my card" here in California. He's fooling himself if he thinks whatever you signed allows him more then the county maximum. Sorry your "caregiver" didn't live up to his agreement but this is yet another example of why all need to self provide, maybe with the help of a real coop or collective.

Man, here is my take on this....

1.Your caregiver can have 3 females flowering for you and 3 in veg

2. 3 plants x 4oz each is 12oz every 2 months

3. there is no reason he shouldnt be able to give you 3oz every 2 months FOR FREE! he is still making $3600 every 2 months off of you.

Sounds like you have a POS caregiver there bud.

Kola Radical

If cannabis is medicine and prescribed by a doctor, then why isn't a COPAY on my health insurance?

We should be able to get an ounce a week for a ten or twenty dollar copayment.

Luckily, I can grow. And I've been a pothead for 35 yrs. and I still have friend connections for $50 eighths. The best kind buds have been $50 an eighth in Boulder for years, or at least since the mid 90's when I came here. $350 an ounce, $1150 a QP. Anything cheaper than that is always cheaper for a reason. Likewise, I have paid $60 for an eighth before, but only for something special.

The dispensaries were fun and cool at first, just because you're buying weed from a friggin' store, for crying out loud. That is history, baby and we're a part of it. I hope they make it because I need an outlet for my extra product.

And herein lies the problem. To pay the growers 350 an ounce like we're used to getting and can get on the street all day long, anytime we want, the dispensaries are forced to charge a little more than 350 or there is no profit. That's the reason for the high prices.

But hang in there because they will be coming down. Many dispensaries are offering a few strains at below market prices, just for the reason that people are going broke buying legal weed.
