The only real store I've found for higher wattage bulbs is Bunnings. They have a Nelson 48w energy saver bulb and also a 28w bulb. It only comes in two flavours so you mostly want Natural for the vegging period, and Warm White for the flowering stage.

I did buy some 45w CFLs via ebay. Just make sure they're 240v and the right fitting. I think yours is ES, the screw in type. If it's a bayonet clip it's BC.

Oh and also, pay no attention to the inflated "equivalent" wattage of the bulb. You want the lower, real wattage.

My advice is just plug them in with whatever energy savers you have in your ceiling or lamps and take it from there. See how the temps go. You want as much and as many as temps allow basically, and summer is coming up so I hope you have AC. I don't.

I pay $4.40 for osram 23w bulbs.

Well as a rough guide, you want 50 to 100 watts per square foot for optimal results in the flowering stage. You can use less but your results will be less impressive. You will never cool 100w per sq ft in summer so lets look more at 50w level.

If you had say a 1ft x 1ft small cubboard, then I would stick 3 of the 15w's in there. This would give you 45w per sq foot (close enough) and will give you an idea of how much heat you're dealing with. Once you get all that functioning within heat range, go buy some 23w bulbs. Two of these are far cheaper than the 48w bulbs so I would suggest using 23w bulbs to get started.

Mix the bulbs up. If you have 3 bulbs, use 2 warm white and one daylight for flower. Use 2 Daylights and one Warm White for veg. Experiment. There are no hard rules, just a general train of thought to keep the emphasis on those spectrums at those times.

I just flicked back and saw your dimensions. 2 x 23w will be enough for your first grow to try it. 3 or 4 would be better if you can keep them cool.

Hey man, I use straight coco with hydro nutes, it's an easy way to get hydro results without having a complex system with reservoirs etc. You just mix your nutes and hand water them on just as if it was soil. Very easy to wrap ones head around as a noob.

I don't know too much about soil but I would look at going organic if you went that way. The best links I could give you is this forum - there's a coco section, organic sections, whatever you need. Oops didn't give you the links - too stoned :smoke:

I use dutch master gold at the moment but the most important thing is "it's not what you use, it's how you use it" so most nutes at the hydro store will get you started. Most aren't organic or even close. Organic nutes are a whole other ballgame...there's an organic hydro section of the forum too, lol. I have never messed with it.

Looks pretty neat broham. You need some flat white paint or mylar too. If you are doing coco with hydro nutes you really just need a ph test kit or pen. If your wallet is too heavy, buy an EC meter as well. Not a neccesity but very handy. If you don't get an ec meter and go with dutch master, use half or less as much as they recommend on their nutrient calculator on their site, maybe it was more like a quarter, I can't remember. Any time you add any other products, add it at half the normal strength on the label for other types of hydro and that will usually be enough. Don't ask me, it's magic.

If you would really like to optimize things, ditch those reflectors and use something else, as they are very inefficient - the light shining up bounces straight off the reflector and restrikes the bulb. They are better than no reflector though.

I forget if you mentioned but you do have fans and shit planned right? You will need a carbon filter too if there are other people living anywhere nearby.

So get those too if you need 'em. :abduct:

Wut would be enough light to yield like crazy in a 4x 8 home box????
It's more about the skills and knowledge of the grower, when you're talking about "Yield Like Crazy". There have been plenty of setups with mad lighting and equipment that produced nothing.

As for how much light, I hear a lot of growers going with a 1KHPS per 4x4 table but I'd do more research to make sure.

id suggest getting some fans to blow directly onto the bulbs, its gonna be cramped and the buds might touch the bulbs, ive had fan cooled cfls touching fanleafs and not a single burn, just great growth.

Why a mh?Hps is ideal for flowering, while mh is more ideal or vegetative growth

for seeds check out seedbay and seedboutique

no there are no seedbanks in oz as far as I know so you gotta risk overseas shipment to a safe address.
