Hahahaha I was thinking the same thing. When do we get to see your Darwin award?

Maybe they could include your contraption in the final installment of the Saw movies.

Hello Snagglepuss. I have been watching you. If you wish to survive, you must trim your buds with this trimmer [Trimmer fires up with a menacing screeching whirr]. When the glass is filled with your blood, the trimmer will stop and you will be released from your shackles. Do you wish to live? The clock is ticking. The choice is yours.

Lol, that thing is like the EDWARD SCISSORHANDS of trimmers! It really does look like something out of a saw movie! If i was a weed plant i'd b scared shitless of it! lol

Why don't you try a barbecue grill with an electric weed wacker mounted below it?

That is something I've always wanted to do. You go first!

The first volunteer ,a strawberry cough leaning Double Strawberry Diesel,
pollinated and finshed.

Even on low speed the fan seems a bit daunting.Ya can't tell from pictures
but the fan is running when i snapped them,The trimmer seems to work, but i can't
get that last centimeter for a close shave, cause of the grill access and the blade height. Is it removing
any crystals? I sure a few ,but its not hacking the bud to bits like i thought it might.

Im gonna cut the grill a bit for better access and try some more. The next test is the bigger machine.Way more access
and i can get right down on the blade.Hopefully without removing any fingers/thumbs.... :asskick:

After cutting a larger piece of the fan grill,i has able to trim right on the blade. It seems you would have to practice quite a bit ,to get quick and effcient with this thing. You could easily put your finger or a bud too far into the blades if your not carefull,.This pic was after removing a larger grill piece.Lots of practice so not to know off crystals ,and wreck ya cheeba.Thas about as good as its gonna get i suppose...

Snagglepuss, much rep for trying...Most usually sit on their stoned asses never trying anything new. Don't be discouraged! I hate trimming too, it's a pain...but I really hate giving money to dealers more.

exactly what I wanted to do. i luv building things on my own too, people sometimes call me mc.guyver. anywho, d rather build me one of these than fucking spend 2000 on a stupid machine everyone can build themselves off of scrap
ive seen buds trimmed with real trimmers and didnt look as good as your trimmer snagglepuss. so Ill put my thumbs up for you and will be building one of these on my spare time. thx for sharing your experience and have a nice one

Thanks for the nice responses. This thing seems to do a halfway decent job .I never really trim more than a few oz's at a time cause im perpetual. So to get thing out and start it up for that, seems a little silly.

But if i had 1/2 pound or more to do ,i think it would proabably save alot of time .Im excited to try the bigger one.I just need a few pounds one for me and a friend, then we could have a trim off ,Scissors vs. Machine...Maby someday..........

Got to fire up the big model today. The plant used is Annac's mind boggle...The big one seems to work ok as well, once you open up the cage for blade access.

So overall the conclusion........

If you have "alot" to trim and you don't want to drop bank for a trimmer. This ,may be an option for you .Practice is required to do a decent efficient job.One thing thing that needs to be added is a 2 or 3 inch wall around the box ,as it seems some particles do escape and make a small mess.

If your considering Blowing some cash and building one of these ,understand the tests and photos shown here are the "actual" results. No cheating,i know it would be easy to say it worked ,even it didn't.I could give a shit whether the thing works or not,im just happy that it worked out ok.Now this thing will get retired under a bunch of junk ,until i come accross the "Golden Pound" to trim ....happy trimming......

Jeez...you guys must really hate trimming to go thru all that hassle.....

A good trimmer kin do 2 lbs dry a day.....so why fuck around makin' a machine that is never gonna do a nice job....and will take up a lot of time to put together?

ya, someone wishes they were doing something other then a closet grow/hates trimming.

Most people with normal sized grows love trimming. Your working with the fruits of your labor there.

The problem with these cheap do-it-yourself trimmers is that the people who are trying to build them don't have much weed to trim anyways. The people who do have the weed are not going to build some ramshackle contraption. They are going to spend the 10 grand on a real trimmer.

have to say thanks for motivating me snagglepuss, although i knew i originally wanted a diy contraption for this, all i wanted to do was buy a garden groom and replace the grate, but by the time i wanted to buy one they were sold out everywhere. then i was thinking about buying a flowbee cuz they look so much like the aardvark trimmer.
But this post really got me thinking about building something. this was 2 days ago. I now have a ''functional'' prototype based on the trimpro trimbox that has cost me 3$ the rest was laying around my house. I say this because my current grate is floppy and droops in the middle so the blade gets gradually farther from the grate the farther out you go. Gonna try to adress this tomorrow and then i will upload pics. Basically heres the buildup, top to bottom:
- Cheap fan to salvage engine from
- cut up storage bin cover acting as temporary ''grate'', cut like a trimpro grate
-Bimetal hacksaw blade, with hole drilled in middle, and edges sharpened, mounted to fan spindle
-cut up 5 gallon bucket to support the grate
-Cheap fan with metal blades (so as to bend them so it sucks instead of blowing)mounted to a 5 inch hole under the bucket

Even though the cutting height isn't set right yet the whole thing works very well, it sucks the leaves into the slots and the blade, even on LO setting cuts very well.
